We chose this hostel as it was a little cheaper than some in the centre of town, and as we had a jeep it didn't matter as downtown is about 5 minutes away. Arriving mid evening and not wishing to try and find a place to eat in the city, we were immediately offered dinner: 3 courses with a soft drink, which was pretty good, although there is no alcohol on the premises. However, you can stock up at the nearby Jumbo supermarket which has an excellent selection of local and world beers and an impressive choice of wines. You'll also find an ATM there. Breakfast was the usual fare in Chile: bread, processed meat, cheese, instant coffee, but individual fruit cocktails and eggs cooked to order were also provided.
Although the narrow concrete entranceway is a bit severe and the exit from the parking area is extremely tight with a large vehicle, the complex is in fact very nice indeed, very quiet with a sheltered communal sitting and BBQ area. The rooms were clean, well kept and are constructed and furnished using rustic local materials and styles. They are also well built as we suffered a 3.3 earthquake one morning which showered fine dust all over us! Plenty of hot water and a good shower too. We particularly appreciate the kindness of the staff when we discovered we had a flat battery as we came to leave. The manager was quick to arrange for a friend to come and jump start it for us.
