It was everything advertised. Beautiful, quiet, very good food. The travelling to and from the village is not pleasant (long and very bumpy), but since the menu is varied and the food delicious we felt no need to go into the village more than once, just to have a look around. 4.5 days relaxing at the hotel were great - hopping from pool to private jacuzzi, to warm ocean waters; reading and chatting in our hammocks or on the beach front loungers, playing beach ball and taking long walks along the almost deserted beach.

My husband and I had a wonderful 5-day stay at the Anima in November 2011. It was perfect. We had a lovely bungalow (comfortable bed, huge bathroom, air con if you want it) set amongst coconut palms and flowering tropical plants. Service was excellent - from reception to the managers to the staff serving expertly-made caipirinhas. We dined at the Anima on four evenings and found the menu creative and the food delicious every time. Breakfasts were also excellent, especially the freshly-made crepes smothered with doce de leite. Although we spent most of our time at the beach (we recommend the jungle trek to Garapua), the pool was clean, cool and refreshing. We have a lot of experience travelling in Brazil - we lived in Sao Paulo for five years - and we couldn't find any faults with the Anima. We'd return in a heartbeat.

Recently stayed at the Anima Hotel. The location and the grounds are the most sensational parts of this hotel. The location is on fourth beach and quite a distance away from the second beach. But as other reviewers have mentioned there is a shuttle (VW van) that takes you back and forth for free. The grounds are well kept and you get to see lots of red, yellow and blue crabs. You also get to see different birds. If you are lucky you might get to see the monkeys overhead! The bungalows are nice and stocked with the standards (satellite tv, mini bar, safe, mosquito net). There is a large bathroom. Unfortunately, when you enter the bungalows there can be an overwhelming stench of mold/mildew. You can also see the remnants of mold and mildew in areas of the bungalow as well. Would not recommend if you are sensitive to mold. The common areas were very clean. The WiFi service only worked in the common area. Bruno was very helpful with making arrangements prior to arrival and during our stay.

The food was good. I would have liked to have seen more of the fresh fruits incorporated into the afternoon and dinner menus. Breakfast was excellent with a buffet and made to order eggs, crepes, tapioca, etc. The bar service was good.

Dinner service left some things to be desired. Again, I would have liked to have seen some of the fresh fruits incorporated more into the menu. There is listed a chef suggestion of the evening which is usually something already found on the menu. You were just being encouraged to order that particular menu item. I found the traditional foods (moqueca and bobo) to be very bland. The dinner service was also very slow. It took up to 45 minutes and longer for entrees to arrive at our table each night. The atmosphere was such that you can order your entree, then go lounge in the common areas until your food is ready.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Anima Hotel. The location is what earns the hotel its 4 stars. Having stayed at other hotels on Morro I can say you will walk away feeling you got great value and a nice hotel.

Anima hotel is located 30 minutes beyond a busy tourist village in front of a beautiful ample and wild beach where guests watch the tide fill and drench the wide band of sand, while they recline comfortably in the shade of bamboo pergolas, or from colorful hammocks stretched among the palm trees, sipping tropical drinks and eating delicious local snacks. Time stretches and you relax wanting nothing else. The ample bungalows, painted in vivid colors and raised on stilts, are very comfortable with large bathrooms, as is the tulle covered bed. Although you may leave the hotel by the transport offered, we found ourselves wanting to stay every night of our 3-day stay for the candlelit dinner and delicious menu offered. The very well chosen background music is quiet enough that it does not interfere with the charming sounds of nature, the waves, the wind, the birds, sometimes raindrops. The well-trained staff is led by the very competent and friendly manager, Dalton, and by the equally efficient and multilingual Bruno. We"d return in a heartbeat and were sorry to leave.

This has to be the most amazing place I have ever been too!! Not only is this island of Morro beautiful in itself, but the Anima hotel is the most pretty, confortable and cozy place in the island!

The location is perfect, two steps from a wonderful beach, the nature surrounding the place makes it chilled and inspiring. The bunglaows are confortable and oh so quiet. But most of all, the staff is adorable and the food is super delicious (and I am Italian so i dont give good reviews so lightly)!!! It's seriously the perfect place for a romantic or relaxing getaway.

Thanks to the amazing Bruno, Angela and all the staff for making this stay the best ever!! We will definetely come back as soon as we can :) We miss it already!!!
