“Private paradise in Morro de Sao Paulo”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

We loved our stay at Villa-Bahia. The B&B has comfortable, very nicely decorated rooms and is in the perfect location - a short walk to the busy Praias but still far enough to provide the peace and quiet you won't find there, as well as a stunning view of another coast (from the breakfast area) and access to a more private beach. Werner definitely deserves his reputation as a master of hospitality. We enjoyed chatting with him over breakfast; it was clear how important it is to him and Ce that their guests enjoy every aspect of their stay. They even prepared a special batch of therapeutic tea with local herbs when my boyfriend wasn't feeling well. Werner was always ready to offer up information about Morro, including some crucial travel instructions for getting there and back, or to phone a friend when we had questions about other towns in Brazil. Morro was one of our favorite destinations in Brazil, and if we go back, we would definitely choose Villa-Bahia again.

We came to Villa Bahia in the evening, and then woke up to what we found was truly paradise. Seems like there was nothing but us and the hammock in the tropical forest :) The breakfast was fresh fruit salad, fresh fruit juice, fresh bread and an omelette.
The location is 2 minutes from the town center and less than 10 minutes walk from the favorite beaches, and still really quiet.
About Werner: he is a great man which has pleasure talking about everything and helping you out with whatever you ask. All the places he recommended were great (don't miss the Toca bar at sunset and the Gamboa beach)! He took care for all the little details in the room including all needed kitchen ware, a mosquito net and even nice music attached to the speakers! He even prepared a different kind of juice in breakfast the next morning, because I didn't like passion fruit :)
To conclude: the place is amazing, the location is the best, and Werner is wonderful. Just perfect.

I stayed with 2 friends in Apartment 1 (2-4 pax) and can't recommend Villa Bahia enough. Friendly, relaxed and hugely helpful hosts as well as incredible views, delicious breakfast, fully equipped accommodation and perfect location in the more peaceful end of town. We followed all Werner's recommendations for things to do during the day, beaches to try and places to eat - all of which were fantastic. I very much hope to make a second visit in the not too distant future.

Awesome place to stay in Morro de Sao Paulo. Very close to all the action but in a very quiet area. Modern and comfortable room with a/c and mosquito nets are a great touch. Breakfast in the morning is fantastic and Werner is a great host.

Let's start talking about the location. It is very well located, very close to the heart of the little town where you have a lot of options to lunch and dinner, markets, stores and the local craft fair. Even close to all these places you don't need to worry about the noise, because the rooms are in a high place, so it is really quite. It is also close to the wharf, so if you have a small luggage you don't even need to pay someone (around, 10-20 reais) to take it for you until Villa Bahia. If you wish you can also go to Gamboa (clay beach) by feet because you will be beside the trail that leads you there. First you will go until the beach that you can see from the breakfast balcony (amazing view) and then you will keep walking on the border of the sea (during the low tide) until you get there (around 25 minutes). Regarding the other beaches you don't need to worry, the island is small so you can walk through the beaches (remember, no cars there).
The room was very clean, comfortable, with AC and a nice balcony with a view to the green, but also very nice to relax and good to put your towels and stuff from the beach to get dry.
The breakfast was very good, with natural juices, fruits salad, eggs, breads, it was very complete. Werner and Ce were very nice to us, very receptive. We loved all suggestions Werner gave to us, about the restaurants, beaches, among other stuff, he is a person that really knows Morro and it helps a lot.
The only thing I believe people may complain are the stairs to go to the rooms, I think it was a very good exercise though.

We had a great time staying at Werner's little B&B! Werner and his dog Olivia were so sweet. The breakfast he served each morning was wonderful, as are the views during breakfast overlooking the ocean - stunning! My fiancé and I spent 4 nights at Werner's and came back super relaxed. Aside from going to the beach we spent much of our days just laying in hammocks. We took a day boat trip around the island of Morro and Werner called the boat's captain and had him pick us up at a much closer spot than the guy otherwise would have, and Werner also lent us cash to pay for the trip since we didn't at the time have cash on us. And when we'd complained of lack of quality food options on the island, Werner recommended a great little place (Papoula's) that was closer and cheaper than everything else -- we liked it so much that we ended up eating there 3 times. I would recommend Werner's place to anyone!

I stayed for 5 nights in one of Werner's apartments, it really was the perfect getaway. The apartment is located in a more quiet area of the island, but still in close walking distance to all the main beaches and very close to town. I loved it, because the apartment is build into the lush green environment. The host Werner really makes you feel at home, I enjoyed his stories about life at breakfast just as much as the food itself. Homebaked german bread, fresh fruits and juice, anything you could wish for.
I absolutely recommend to stay at this place, it is unique in Morro de Sao Paulo!
