We stopped today (Friday, August 31, 2012) for lunch after avoiding the Lobster Shanty for the last 3 months; we remembered a relatively poor, high priced lobster roll from last year. Today's lunch was better but still expensive.

We had lobster patty (think crab patty) sandwiches which were tasty and a change from the usual crab meat. We celebrated the holiday weekend with "Dark and Stormies" (dark rum and ginger beer).. The drinks were served with lots of ice in pint glasses, and they were great on a hot summer day.

The restaurant was about a third full, but service was very slow. Our server seemed capable of doing only one thing at a time. He clearly was never trained to look around at his customers and see if they had needs.

Overall: interesting/okay food, nice location, good drinks but indifferent service and high prices

Love the atmosphere: kitschy w/out going overboard and wonderful view of the back bay with sunsets galore. The food is fresh, somethings very rich in flavor/calories and worth every penny. I return for the shrimp salad, lobster salad with fruit plate, their soups, and mostly light fare. The drinks are fab, the bartenders friendly and the bar is cozy with tvs and that gorgeous view. They have a covered deck with fans that is very inviting if the weather suits you outside. Their "mother" restaurant is Nantuckets on Coastal Hwy and it is evident in what has rubbed off for their style and panache. Bravo!!

Food was good but way over priced. Also the amount of food was small. Atmosphere was nice. Does have a view.

On Monday evening, August 27, friends & I went to "the lobster shanty" on the recommendation of several other friends. We were seated promptly and soon after we were seated another group arrived with 12 children, all under the age of 6. They were seated across the room from us & for the entire evening & meal these children were yelling, screaming & one young boy was standing on the chair lifting his shirt over his head!! Neither the hostess nor the waitress offered to seat us some other place in the restaurant or apologize for the noise. This disturbance was so bad the food was, at best, mediocre. We will never go back.

Only place in at the Easter Shore where you can get authentic Lobster rolls just like in New England! Took my father-in-law for a lobster roll, and can't wait to return on my next trip back to the area. Huge variety of lobster dishes unlike anything else in the area. A bit pricey, perhaps, but what do you epect for good food in a beach town. The locatoin what surprisingly nice too....eat outside with nice views of the quiet bay shoreline.
