This is where all the locals go!! Very very good pastechi and very very cheap. Lady spoke little English but the food was great for a little snack.

When we use to travel from Manchebo Beach Hotel towards friends in the area of Santa Cruz, we often stop at Tank Leendert Snack in order to have some great local snacks, pretty cheap. My wife loves 'pastechi': pasties stuffed with cheese, chop soy, tuna or meat. It's really a very popular local snack and you can buy it everywhere on Aruba. Here at Tanki Leendert you can purchase excellent pastechi, not too fat and not poorly stuffed like in so many other places. But also other delicious local food like 'cari cari' (fish with vegetables, potatoes and herbs), one of our favorites, topped with banana hasa (fried bananas) or funchi (made with corn), both are recommended Arubian side dishes. Bon apetit!

Aruba is dotted with snack stands, and you really haven't experienced the wide variety of Aruban cuisine and Caribbean influence if you don't get away from the chain restaurants and try a handful of the snack stands during your visit. We discovered Leendert Snack on our way back from a hike on the east shore. It was packed with locals, from construction laborers to finely dressed salespeople. For $6 bucks, we got a full platter of half chicken, black beans, rice, plantains, and yucca, two freshly cooked pastecchis (like an empanada), two sodas and a bag of chips. Easily fed us and our two young kids.
