“very dissapointing Le Meridien”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2008

Dirty spa , dirty gym -you really don't want to use them.
The stuff is not well trained , thou some people are friendly.
The beach is open for stranges , nobody checks it , therefore overcrowded.
Our room was ok, but it took me some time to get the room I've reserved. No apology for this , nor for other errors they made.
The food is ok, but the restaurant is not really pleasant.
The outside pool is nice and big, but the pool with sea water at the spa is small and nor very clean, the outside sea-water pool was empty without prior notice.
I felt I should have booked another hotel.

Beautiful hotel if it was kept up (but it isn't). Hateful people are working there. They even told one woman her refridgerator was suppose to be room temperature! We stayed at this before it was bought by Fattal and it was great. Even though we read the reviews, we had such a good experience before, we booked it again. The reviews were right and this is no 5-star hotel. More like a 3 star. They need to seriously review that one.

I would book something else.

Me and my wife spend a week (from sunday till thursday) at this hotel at the end our wedding party.
After all the rush and planning the wedding we need a relaxation vacation at the lowest place on earth...
We spend the week at the suite. a great and cleanig room. with a bed room, living room and balcony.
we've get all the convenience we hope to get and more...
The hotel is very big and the stuff is very polite.
a good hotel.
have the biggest spa at the dead sea. The spa is not new and is broken her and there but at the all picture a good spa (but not the best). have a pool with water from the dead sea, two Jacuzzy,
wet sauna, dry sauna. meny spa treatment (we have good once).

The Meridien Dead Sea is not nearly as bad as most say. Granted, it gets super crowded on Shabbat, but the hotel is nice, and the amenities are good. We passed on the buffet and had decent food in the quiet lounge area. The pool is fantastic and the beach is just a quick shuttle away. Our room was huge witha great view of teh Dead Sea.

My wife and I stayed there at the end of June, and the only thing that we did not like was the intense heat (40 degrees plus) and the town itself is kind of depressing.

This hotel is not nearly as bad as everyone says it is. Granted the staff at the hotel desk is rude, slow, poorly trained and drives everyone nuts, but once you're past checking in, this hotel is a great family destination.

The pool is huge with a waterslide, there's constant entertainment for kids in the water and out, Dead Sea is terrific, the food is plentiful and generally quite good, views are spectacular, and the rooms are decent with a pull out couch and king beds.

We took 27 family members for the weekend to the hotel and had a great time.

It's a true Israeli experience! It's not 5 star by American standards but it's not bad for Israel.

The check out is horrible so leave some extra time....or your blood will boil.

  • Liked — pool, view and entertainment
  • Disliked — the front desk is the worst i've ever seen, the manager should be fired immediately

Considering this hotel is meant to be a five star I think it might need to be reviewed again!
The hotel looked like it was built in the 70's and hadnt seen a lick of paint or any sign of a refurb ever since.
On arrival we asked the concierge if there were any nice restaurtants to go to eat, after looking at us blankly he said the only place to eat in the area was McDonalds!
A day in the Dead Sea is more than enough, it is definitely not worth staying any longer than that - especially in the Meridien.
For nearly £200 per night it was completely over priced and felt like a 2 star hotel. We ended up cutting our stay short and heading back to Tel Aviv.
