Description: Ein Bokek is a hotel complex by the Dead Sea with few independent restaurants. The Taj Mahal is one of the only free standing restaurants and it is a more pleasant, cheaper and better quality place to eat than the hotel restaurants.

We had lunch there. It was good. The place is decorated as a bedowee tent and part of the sitting is on low sofas on the floor. The food was very good. We had various grilled meat which include a variety of salads. The only down side is that there is no air conditioning. But since it is an open tent, there was some wind. Will go there again if the weather isn't too hot.

My husband, daughter and I were staying at the Crowne Plaza and were looking for a restaurant that is the antithesis of the hotel buffet. This is really it. The food is fantastic and the ambience is that of a princely Bedouin tent with a view of the Dead Sea. The most direct route from our hotel on foot took us across a large open gravel area in the dark, which is kind of weird, but we never felt unsafe. The street-lit route is a longer walk. Our hosts were very gracious and welcoming. We were in Ein Bokek for two nights and went back for the second night. It was just as good the second time around, if not better.

This place is really strangely located, off of a dirt road behind a small shopping mall. We tried to go two nights in a row and it was completely dark. We tried making an online reservation and left a number to confirm also... When we came he door was chained shut with foreign writing on the door and we decided to leave. It was very strange

There are cigarette burns in cushions, a stray cat, menus are dirty. But the food made up for it all, especially side dishes were delicious. And very inexpensive too! The waiter was friendly and polite. A big minus is that while you can see the place from the main street, it's very difficult to find your way there (by foot) if you want to stay on lit streets.

Made a reservation over the internet and even called to reconfirm, but when we arrived they said they only take groups. So unless you're a group don't waste your time.
