This motel-type property is located just off the main street in Watkins Glen, in the middle of a beautiful forest, yet very close to everything in the area. Nice, big rooms, very quiet, fresh air and very friendly athmsofere.

Room Tip: The reception area can be noisy. You can chose your room nearby just to be close to the restaurant o...

Well not too happy about spending $ 15.95 for Macarroni and Cheese for my 10 year old and then confronted or should I say "harassed" because I did not leave a 15% tip from the wait staff. They actually followed me out of the resturant and told me off. This is not a place too bring a family and will never step foot there again!!!!

It is difficult to imagine this place could get any worse.

We stayed in one of the "motel" rooms which smelt of mildew and where even the bedsheets were continuously damp. Mildew and mold is in plain sight.

The air conditioner filter was so fully blocked with accumulated dust that almost no air was being circulated through it. It was little better after the filter was cleaned and still there was a generous quantity of accumulated dust around the A/C.

Don't expect a phone in your room and be very thankful if the wireless network works for more than a few minutes at a time - very frustrating.

In response to a complaint from both the friend I shared the room with and myself the management could not have cared less.

$73 a night may be relatively cheap but it is really bad value for your hard-earned buck.

We didn't have reservations but stopped anyway. Lucky for us there was a cancelation and a cabin with a queen bed was available! It was brand new! Cozy, had a small fire pit that we thoroughly enjoyed for hours! The prime rib at the restaurant was very good and everyone we encountered was very nice and helpful. My husband got a kick out of the bar. It has a lot of interesting history. He proximity to the gorge was a major plus. We are so glad the nice lady at the gift shop recommended we try Seneca Lodge! Grateful they had a vacancy! everything was super clean! Bed was a very firm, so if you like a soft bed bring a feather bed! swimming pool was at the state park which I understand is free if you walk there.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before you commit to it. That way you know what you are getting!

Unfortunately, the cabin we stayed in was under construction. We had no prior notice and arrived to find a couple of great guys working every morning at 8am.......too bad for you was the owners attitude. Well, too bad for her now! Seneca gets a "poor" rating.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Seneca Lodge. We're the kind of people who love old-school touristy stuff - log cabinish walls, giant fireplaces in restaurants, slightly kitschy decor. If you want a fancy place with a lot of amenties, then this place probably isn't for you. But if you want a place that's fun (and clean), then you'll like it.

We stayed in the motel portion of the Lodge, which was pretty standard motel stuff - a simple room with 2 beds and a TV. The cabins looked fun but we were afraid (based on a few things written on this site) that they would be noisy because they were near the highway. I'd say that wasn't likely to be a problem. It's true they were near the highway but it's a small country road with 2 lanes. Maybe we'll try it next time (and there will be a next time!). The A-frames looked good too but we didn't get a chance to see it up close. The motel rooms were simple but clean, so I'm guessing that's true of the cabins and A-frames too.

One of the main attractions of the motel is its proximity to Watkins Glen State Park - which is a pretty awesome place to go. The motel is actually located near the entrance of the park that's kind of in the middle (though closer to the beginning than the end). It's very easy to walk from the Lodge across the street to the park (down a somewhat long driveway, but not too bad).

Another benefit of staying at the hotel is that you are in close proximity to the restaurant, which has lots of great comfort-food type dishes. The breakfast sandwich I had was probably the best I ever tasted, and dinner was really good too.

It seems that the Lodge doesn't offer archery any more (I'm guessing their lawyers told them it was too much of a liability to allow guests access to weaponry), but there did seem to be a pool and tennis court. (We didn't have a chance to use either.)

The price we paid was pretty low ($75 per night I think) and would have been even lower in the cabins. There's free wi-fi, which worked fine, which is sometimes hard to find in a place like this.

Overall, a fun, homey place to go on the road.

My husband found this motel about five days before our trip to Niagara Falls. He wanted to break the trip into two 4 hour driving sections on the way up and to hike Watkins Glen with our daughter; this motel location was perfect. The pool at the park was an added bonus, they walked up there after dinner for a quick swim - no fee unless you want to park. The room was small but perfect for our family of three; it was clean and basic. The park was barely 1/4 up the road and we were able to explore for about two hours before we needed to be on our way. we sat on our chairs at dusk, watching deer and enjoying the rest. we also ate dinner at the restaurant and it was wonderful - good portions, nice salad bar, good wait staff. My husband went to the bar after our daughter's bedtime and they were also very nice there (even discovered a connection to Bucknell University, where we went to college).

Room Tip: plan ahead more if you want a cabin.
