“Very good B&B”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

We were at Lake valley Legends for a girls weekend out, and the hostess Vikki was very warm and friendly. The breakfasts were lovely, appropriate for the weather. The place is clean and cozy, and is close by to the wineries and the state park. We had a lovely time and would love to visit them again :)

Room Tip: we stayed at the penthouse suite and the sunrise was unbelievably beautiful

my husband and I stayed back in August 2012 for our anniversary and it was wonderful. I was welcomed and felt completely comfortable hanging out on their gorgeous deck. We stayed in the Penthouse Room and I loved it. The stairs are steep so if you don't feel comfortable with stairs stay in another room. There isn't anything I would fault. The breakfast was wonderful as was the company. I cannot wait to go back and I will book well in advance this time. Missed out this year because I procrastinated. see you guys soon!!

the "when did you travel" button doesn't go back to august 2012.....

Room Tip: As I said above, the penthouse room is an attic room with the bathroom being on the bottom floor (in...

Stayed for 3 nights while in the area and as soon as we arrived it felt like we were home. We stayed in the pent house and the room was spacious, had a beautiful view of the lake, and the most comfortable bed. The whole place was charming and we took a tour of the other rooms, each one was very welcoming. Breakfast was great and Lou gave us pointers about Watkins Glen Gouge, and even offered to pick us up once we got to the top, as the shuttle stops Labor Day, just call him its a short drive away. We did make it on our own, but it was so nice of him to offer. Lou and Vicki were both great, and they had lots to information to share on what to do and of course where to eat. The kitchen was always open and filled with goodies, homemade apple cake and cookies. One day on our way out Lou wrapped us up a snack. But the best was coming back in the evening, the parlor area was so cozy and inviting, the guests would gather, chat about their day and have a snack. It was just like coming home!

Thank you for the glowing review! As I have said before, wonderful guests make for wonderful visits--and you two were that! We did have a great group of guests who "meshed" so well together. Weekends like that sure make our role as Innkeepers a delight! Please come back.

There was nobody to greet us when we arrived although we arrived within 15 minutes of our expected time. ( we use B&B,s for the specific purpose of the utilising the owners excellent local knowledge of good restaurants etc) There were plenty of notices so were able to find our room with no problem. From the web site description we opted for the pent house room.....there were 3 small flights of stairs and a 4th flight being longer and much steeper to get to the bedroom ..a hike carrying the luggage. the room was a disappointment .....an attic conversion going from front to back of the house. The ceiling was low with slanting sides ..there was a small window one end with a bigger window (approx 4x5) towards the lake which could be seen over the roof tops of houses. There were numerous pictures and ornaments in the bedroom including a wooden notice saying ?.BED AND BREAKFAST......YOU MAKE BOTH....so it perhaps did not come as a total surprise but a bit annoyed that our room was not serviced ...it's the first time ever that we have had to make our own bed when staying in a bed and breakfast house........The breakfast was self service although Lou did warm up French toast for breakfast. On a very positive note there were almost free run of the kitchen 24/7 where there was a choice of cakes, biscuits etc as well as soft drinks tea, coffee and cider. There is no specific car park but the road is quite quiet so parked on the road.

Room Tip: we did pop our head into the Lake Room(unoccupied).....fantastic....

I am very surprised about your comments. From all of the pictures we have on our websites and other booking sites, you can tell that the Penthouse is the attic room with slanted ceilings on the side. This also makes it our largest. And since it is the attic, how did you think you would get there?? There have to be stairs. The window at the end of the room is 5x5 and very large. Unfortunately, other people do live in this village, so there are rooftops. The view of the lake from that window is wonderful. It is also too bad that you do not realize a "fun" sign when you see it--obviously you do NOT make your own bed or breakfast at a B&B. This just makes me appreciate our other guests more.

We were visiting Watkins Glen with a number of other couples for a weekend get away and we liked the idea of staying in a B&B. When we first drove up to the house, we weren't sure what to expect inside. It's situated in an 'out of the way' street which turned out to be closer to the downtown area than we knew. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a note telling us where each of our rooms were located and to help ourselves to the pumpkins cookies which were just made. Delicious! After we went out to dinner we returned to the house to find a freshly baked apple cake (a new recipe according to Vicky). Another delectible dessert! The following morning we had a fabulous breakfast including homemade scones among many other filling dishes. We set out for our day of wine tastings and asked Lou and Vicky for recommendations. They didn't push or promote any in particular but gave us some hints. Lou mentioned his cousin owned a small winery and gave us the name, Kings Garden. We went and it turned out to be our favorite of all those we visited. Anything you could need was there...soaps, shampoo, lotions, bathrobes, etc.. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Penthouse and liked it. It was warmer up there than any of the other levels of the...

Thanks so much for your wonderful review! I sure remember you and you were just fantastic guests. That apple cake was good, too! We just had a review against the Penthouse, so your review and critique was most welcome. Again, many thanks--please come back!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake Valley Legends B & B. Vickie and Lou are wonderful hosts. The breakfast was terrific and there were home-made baked goods and beverages available throughout the day which was a welcome touch. Room was comfortable and well stocked with everything you could need. We were there with three other couples who are long-time friends and there was ample room to sit and talk both indoors and out. Very convenient to Lake Seneca Wineries. Each room is laid out differently so it is important to look at the pictures on their website. We would definitely stay again!

This is a quirky little B&B in a funky part of town. It was not at all what I was expecting. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean but if I'm ever in Watkins Glen again I would probably stay at the Harbor Hotel.

We always encourage constructive criticism, which can make our B&B better for our guests and make their stay more enjoyable. You offered none. Most of our guests, thankfully, are quite happy with our location and our B&B. You should enjoy yourself at the Harbor Hotel--it is very nice.
