“Loooove it!”

Seneca Lake Wine Trail
Certificate of Excellence

This was our third trip to Lake Seneca. Perfect weekend getaway. Highly recommended! We stayed at the Harbor Hotel again and the location is perfect for visiting as many wineries as we could in two days. My husband is a non drinker so he was our designated driver. We did the Glenora wine tour on Sunday and ate lunch there as well, beautiful setting, great food and wine. We try to make an annual trip up from Pennsylvania. We also did the Gorge monday morning, perfect, as there were no people and we had it all to ourselves. Highly recommended for a fun get away!

Everyone was very friendly and knowledgable. The lake is beautiful and many wineries have outdoor patios. Especially don't miss Hermann Wiemer Winery.

The are more wineries than prudent people would want to visit. We particularly liked the whites, as most of the reds are young and have a ways to go. Thanks to Mr Taylor, vinifera, and Cornell University, ther are many varieties of wine to taste.
Take the Wine bus or have a designated driver unless you have a wish for either death or incarceration.

My wife and I spent a few days in the Finger Lake region. We toured the scenic routes around several of the lakes. It was amazing! There are literally wineries everywhere. The Seneca Lake Wine Trail has many awesome scenic views along the way. Stop and visit the wineries and sample some of the many locally made wines. But bring a designated driver! Be advised that the speed limit on many of the winding two-lane roads around the lakes are 55 mph. It's a little difficult for drivers to enjoy the scenery while focusing on driving.

Route 14 has an abundance of good wineries from Watkins Glen to Geneva. There's something for everyone's taste including fruit wines and mead. I was there during the week, so the tastings were relaxed and there weren't any big crowds. There was time to chat with the servers who provided additional information other than what to expect from the flavor of the wines.
