“A Great Night in a Low-Key Restaurant”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

We had visited the Seneca Lodge last year for the first time. We had enjoyed a great-tasting breakfast there and were told about the Roast Prime Rib au Jus special that they offer every Friday-Sunday night. We decided that we had to try it this year when we visited the area again.

We were NOT disappointed! I ordered the 6 ounce cut........medium rare.... and that was exactly what I got. It was very flavorful and grilled perfectly to my request. My spouse decided to go for the Queen Cut. When it was served to him, it looked like it was from the Fred Flintstone era............that's how large it was! His prime rib was also perfectly done and delicious as well. Each cut of the prime rib is served with the salad/bread offerings from their salad bar plus a choice of a starch. A lot of food for the money!

Plus, we love the ambiance..........very low-key and "kick back". Many of the patrons that night included campers staying in their campground as well as local residents. The decor of the lodge is very rustic..........perfect for the area in which it is located.

One bit of warning............you might want to get there earlier in the evening, rather than waiting until later. The restaurant is open 5-9 PM for dinner, but our server told us that even though they serve about 200 prime rib orders every night, they always sell out of it before the end of the evening. They do NOT take reservations, so don't be disappointed by getting there too late!

“Home-style food in a 70s throwback setting”
Reviewed June 12, 2012 via mobile

A visit to the Seneca Lodge Restaurant is worth it when visiting Watkins Glen. In addition to the racing history associated with it, there is a definite 70s vibe to the ambience. Very laid back and friendly staff. The food is just what you would expect if someone invited you over for a casual home-cooked meal. The prices are reasonable. They do meat very well here. We try to stop by whenever we are in the Watkins Glen area.

“Alway a good meal”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

We eat dinner at least once when we stay at the Seneca lodge.
I had a Petite File Mignon this time and it was very good our waitress was very attentive and handled our large table (12) effortlessly.

I also had breakfast for the first time ever and it was just OK nothing to write home about but the coffee was kind of weak.
They should open early for the race track crowd (8:00 am) is too late

“Hidden gem, especially weekend prime rib specials!”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

I love that this place is a bit hidden, away from the main street traffic. A family-run place for generations, this place is, yes, a great lodge, but it also has an awesome bar towards the other side, with archery and racing memorabilia that covers its walls. I highly recommend the weekend prime rib dinner specials -- juicy, tender, and so flavorful. They come in petite, queen, and king sizes. They are really big. Choose wisely. ;) The special includes a cafeteria-style salad bar/bread.
Also, they have a new-ish family-run microbrewery that has some good/decent brews. The stout and amber were pretty good. Glad that they are doing that...
I support and appreciate this establishment's always friendly service and local flare. The compound is amazing, as well.
