“Beautiful Views from a Lovely Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

We stayed in a room with a king-sized bed and balcony facing the lake. My parents stayed one floor down in a similar room, though with two double beds. Both rooms were lovely. The service and staff were so professional and friendly. Everyone was smiling and friendly and always asked us how we were doing. There was free coffee on each floor in the morning. The lake views were superb.
We ate in the hotel restaurant one night, and it was okay. Another evening, we went to the restaurant next door, which was a step up. Our friends ate at the restaurant next door three times on their trip. So, even if you don't fancy The Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel restaurant, it's a short stone's throw for another option.
Two days in a row we went hiking in the Glen Watkins gorge, which was also very close to the hotel. We also enjoyed Watkins Glen's lovely, quaint downtown. We were in town for an event at Cornell University, which is ~25 miles away. It was a picturesque drive that we made many times.

I recently stayed here while participating at race. What a nice experience. From the time I walked in, the staff was very attentive to making my stay enjoyable. The rooms were light and clean. I know it's a little thing but I really liked the turn down service at night. (I ran into the turn down service staff one night and they were extremly pleasant and they really do play a part in making a visitor's stay memorable!) It must be a Watkins Glenn thing but all the hotels around there don't offer in room coffe makers by this hotel does the next best thing and put a coffee service by the elevators on each floor so at least you don't have to go far for a cup of morning Joe. The bath room was huge with a walk in shower and jacuzzi bath. Well lit and plenty of towels were available. The TV was a large HD unit and the channel lineup was extensive. The internet access was easy, fast and free.

I ate at the restaurant and the Delmonico steak special was outstanding. I had cocktails each night and met people there each time who were locals so even the people who live in the area frequent this place. The view is outstanding showing the entire stretch of Senneca Lake. It's expensive but I felt it worth it.

Room Tip: The best rooms were facing the Lake but my room had the "village" view which wasn't ba...

We hoped this property would live up to it's 4 diamond rating from AAA, and it did! We enjoyed a lovely, exceptionally clean room with laminate flooring/ceramic tile and area rugs instead of wall to wall carpeting. The 2 person shower was beautifully designed and soft robes were available for our use. Each floor conveniently had a hot coffee/tea station set up in the morning. The view of the Harbor was so relaxing and the hotel has a restaurant, patio and lounge which overlook the dock (but also the parking lot). The service was exceptional- friendly, but not intrusive. The front desk person was thoughtfully insightful in sharing local tips and directions. We'll definitely return!

Best hotel by far in the area, the staff is attentive, the rooms are beautiful and make you feel like you are in a lake house. The only thing is there restaurant is a bit slow maybe because they are not accustomed to handling so many people and it was very busy. Their food was ok but not consistent. Some plates were very good, others not so much. As an overall experience I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to go to the lakes, a bit far from Ithaca but manageable.

Well where do I begin? I was expecting my RV to arrive at Watkins Glen raceway but it had other plans. We thought we'd only need to stay 1 night, but then the people at Freightliner also had other plans and fixing my rig in a timely fashion wasn't one of them. So we were their for both nights. We had to find a place to stay nearby and while driving through town we came across the Harbor Hotel.

What a wonderful discovery right on the banks of Lake Seneca, this hotel looked brand new but I was informed it was 5 years old! Wow! Most hotels age very quickly but you can see everywhere that this property is extremely well maintained. The rooms were very modern and like the rest of the property well maintained and most importantly VERY clean.

We had the pleasure of having some adult beverages and small appetizers in the bar and the service staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

The restaurant also was a pleasant surprise, the menu was varied and appealing and well presented.

If you find yourself in this area either with or without a running RV stop by the Harbor Hotel you may just stay awhile.

Close to the water. Excellent beds, great pillows, morning coffee by the elevators every morning, newspaper at your door, welcoming staff, friendly bar, excellent food. Decent workout room with reclining bike, two ellypticals, two treadmills and weights. What else do you want in Watkins Glen?

Room Tip: Any room looked good to me. Mine was looking at the parking lot!

Our room was spacious and well-appointed with a great view of the lake. At $700 for two nights, it was a bit on the pricey-side. (I noted another couple at check-out, who seemed to be with a wedding group, had paid $800 for four nights. Of course, we were there on a holiday weekend, which likely accounts for the price differential.)

The bed was a bit on the firm-side, especially if one is used to a pillow-top mattress but comfortable overall. The pillows were down, so if you have allergies you need to ask for a replacement.

Complimentary coffee service was available every mornign at 6 a.m. near the elevators on each floor. Really enjoyed the convenience!

We didn't use the (indoor) pool but it looked great. For those who are a bit more modest, the pool is directly off of the lobby with a constant flow of people peeking in.

We had planned to eat at the hotel restaurant for a late lunch (~3 p.m.) but found only heavier meals than we wanted on the menu, with no view of the lake. We walked just steps out the backdoor to the Seneca Harbor Station and found a greater array of options and prices, as well as a great view of the lake.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view. (My daughter asked for a higher room but ended up with a 2nd floor room facing...
