Cheap eats. Just order the dogs and the burgers with the works....you won't be disappointed. Very friendly on the wallet too.

“A must-stop every time we're here!”
Reviewed July 17, 2012 via mobile

The cheapest/tastiest mini hot dogs around....they've been open for years & many days the line wraps down the street. There's picnic tables outside to sit on w/umbrellas & a few seats inside. Gus's may be a hole in the wall, but its the best!

“The very definition of 'greasy spoon'...with great food”
Reviewed March 30, 2012

Great food on the cheap. You can get 10 small hot dogs and 2 sodas and still not drop a $10 bill. They use Helmbold's hot dogs, which if you're from the Capital District area of New York, you know these are the best money can buy. I think the meat sauce here is rather bland, especially when compared to the Famous Lunch on Congress Street in Troy. However, I know many people who swear by it. I've had the sausage sandwich in the past and found that to be good, too.

I've been advised by several people never to set foot inside the place as they describe it as disgusting. From what I can see through the walkup window, it's really tiny, poorly lit and questionable at best. The outside of the building clearly shows its age, looking quite run down. Prices are written on paper plates, and taped pieces of paper cover old prices on the permanent sign. As tacky as all this sounds, it's strangely also part of the charm of the place...honest food at an honest price. No pretense here. They have picnic tables in a lot next to the building, and a seasonal garden at the back of the lot that's actually very nice to look at.

The walkup window to this place is usually hopping. The single line can be long, but moves pretty quickly. Very crowded at lunchtime on weekdays as many blue collar workers stop here, along with the occasional exec. The guy who takes your orders could be friendlier, but he's not unpleasant, either. The little old lady with the foreign accent who hands out the food is a hoot.

“Great little whole in the wall type of place”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

Tiny place that serves up a whole lot of food. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food that comes out of there is great. Very inexpensive.
