My husband and I have been to the restaurant Le Ciel D'or for lunch on Fridays having the menu of the day and enjoying every mouthful, going for Sunday lunch and the Menu Degustation Unique was even better.
At €57 (does not include wine) it may sound expensive and you can certainly find cheaper, but the menu is five courses including an Amuse Bouche and indeed a pre-Amuse Bouche so, from our point of view it is value for money. The surroundings are beautiful in this small chateau enclosed in the middle of the tiny medieval town of Mirepoix. The staff attentive and polite. The Dutch chef Rogier Van Den Biggelaar, who speaks perfect English, should be proud of himself. He could be on his way to a Michelin star. Not only doesn't he come out into the restaurant to say hello but if one asks about food and the staff do not know they go and ask and he will come out to explain every detail.
The lobster for starters was perfect, the fish course with sauce caviar superb. It carried on being delicious with the Filet de Poulet de Bresse in a butter and truffle sauce. The plate of cheese was followed by a chocolate ravioli (better than it sounds) finished the meal perfectly and I just about had room for the Petit four! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
