Pumba has managed to put a lot of Africa into the design of their rooms without compromising on comfort. Interesting use of local timbers and banana leaf in the decor make this a fun place to stay and the views into the park are great. Meals were all excellent and there wasn't anything that was a problem for the very attentive staff. Thanks for everything.

We enjoyed staying at the Pumba Safari Cottages. The have cottages perched on the escarpment overlooking the savannah. We even saw elephants from our room! There were monkeys and some nice birds as well. The food was pretty good as far as Ugandan fare goes, but not much choice as is the case with most of the middle level places we stayed. No internet in the rooms and sometimes during the day none in the restaurant either. The staff was exceptionally good and helpful.

We were able to spend two nights at Pumba lodge on a recent safari. It was absolutely beautiful. Our lodge was quite far from the main building but with the use of my headlamp (which I’d recommend for all safari lodges) it was an easy walk. The room was very spacious and our bathroom included a shower and a tub. Our beautiful veranda looked out over an amazing landscape. The visiting monkeys were also a highlight. We were treated very well by the staff and served delicious food. My only caution is that the stairs to the dining area are unequal distances apart and have big gaps between. For a person like me, who is really clumsy, that meant paying attention on the stairs every time.

If you want to have a beautiful view of Queen Elizabeth National Park but not worry about a large animal outside your room, this is the place for you. I was a little worried when this was suggested by the tour company, Explore Rwanda Tours, because I couldn’t find it listed on Queen Elizabeth national park website and there were not a lot of recent reviews on this website. My concerns were unwarranted. The cottages over look a wide section of the park, but they are up on a high ridge of the hill. I stayed in the sunbird cottage. On my second evening, I was able to watch elephants in the distance as the sun set from the front porch. The rooms were spacious with two larger than twin beds and both have benches for your bags. There was a bunk bed over one of the beds. All had spacious mosquito nets.
The bathroom was painted beautifully and trim was a natural log wood. Feels like a rustic lodge.
The area where meals are served is at the top of the trees so there are lots of birds seen outside. There is also a great view of the sunset. Justus was our server the whole time and he was very kind and attentive. The fish was excellent as was the fruit cocktail drink (fruit punch). I wish I had the fish both nights. The chicken dish was a bit tough.
The only thing that was negative was in order to have a warm shower, only the hot water could be on. And with just the hot water, the pressure was not very high, so it felt like a few trickles of water coming from the beautiful rain shower head. If you don’t mind cool showers, then adding some cold water makes the water pressure just fine. And the first night, the internet was down. They did get a fix the next night, so from the main lodge we were able to send texts to home and get email.

It's terrific to have a very distant visitor go through their plan that led them to Pumba! Really a great move by Explore Rwanda backing Pumba safari cottages as a superb lodging out fit on the Wildlife rim..
The Elephant view by the cottages and the bird viewing in the restaurant really keeps our visitors with full viewing during your stay... Fantastic point you have highlighted.. We are truly working hard on fine-tuning our Wi-Fi out put and surely the solar water booster in any case whether low sunlight or pressure, we are trying our best to beat the system in line.. Thanks once again for the support and broadcasting this warm news to the world.
