We stayed for two nights the staff were magnificent and the accommodation brilliant. We had to forgo a trip on the second day due circumstances with one member of the party but the staff were absolutely wonderful and we were able to relax by the pool and get thoroughly spoilt by Lawrence and the rest of the staff. The room was beautiful with views over the lake, sitting on the balcony you could watch the fishermen and hear the hippos wallowing. The hippos came up to the lodge in the early hours of the morning, we heard them but unfortunately it was too dark to see them. At night you could watch the bats, fireflies and the stars. Large bath took ages to fill but using the shower hose speeds things up a tad and the water wasn't particularly hot, but what a luxury to soak in a bubble bath with a panoramic view over the lake.

I felt welcome from the moment of arrival, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The service of the waiters were excellent. All the meals were well presented, the food was wonderful. The lodge is
in a beautiful location, overlooking lake George. At night, there were hippos grazing on the lawn surrounding the chalets(so be careful !). I loved the interior design of the dining and lounge area. The chalet was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable, you can relax in the bath while you look out over the lake. I can definitely recommend Ihamba and won't mind staying there again myself.

Room Tip: Chalets 1-3 face the lake

I stayed at the Ihamba Safari lodge for 2 nights and was extremely impressed with everything from the moment I arrived. The staff were very welcoming and provided an excellent service at meal times. The rooms are individual cottages which are beautifully furnished and feel very luxurious, yet authentic. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking to visit the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Delicious hospitality, wonderful place, excellent chef.
Worth to stay at least a couple of nights to enjoy the beautiful rooms.
Don't be scared by the hippos coming out of the lake, they're part of the family!

This lodge is beautifully decorated and the staff very welcoming and accommodating. The food was delicious. Hippos roamed the grounds at night (this enriched the whole being in Africa experience). Guests can take a tour of the nearby village at a cost. Villagers are friendly and later came to the lodge to perform dances and a drama also at a cost. Only issues were mouse droppings seen in the room and the insects were out of control, but I guess that is to be expected of a lodge on the lake in the bush!

Room Tip: Choose a room closer to the lobby and near the lake.

Thank you so much for the review Kalibilli, let do our best in keeping away any signs of rodents and we are also planning on reducing the lake flies with insect repellants.

Ihamba lodge
Room - spacious, clean, one very comfortable double bed with a large net. Also had a settee, dressing table, wardrobe, two large suitcase stands. There was balcony with two comfortable chairs, providing pleasant views of Lake George.
En-suite – toilet, sink, shower, and a bath-tub. Clean, efficient, plenty of room. Privacy is limited, it’s ok if sharing with your partner, not so clever if travelling with a workmate. Hot water via a donkey boiler (barrel heated by log fire): always sufficient and piping hot if you let the staff know when you need it, and then let the tap run for a minute or two.
Electricity: four sockets in our room, plenty for charging phones and cameras. Power is from a generator, which went off at 11pm but was back on at 6am. Electric Lights in all rooms and torches (flashlights) provided.
Location: between Kasesee and Queen Elizabeth National park. On a flat plain next to the west bank of the lake with impressive views of mountains.
Environment: In a fenced compound with gate-guard. Neat hedged gardens and large lawn. Cottages well spaced for privacy. Ask for a front row to enjoy best views of the lake. Outside the compound is a village with friendly residents, whose children sang and danced for us. Just walk over and say hello.
Dining: In large thatched hall which doubles as the bar, well appointed with rustic wooden furniture and plush cushions. Bar offers full selection of spirits, usual couple of beers, limited choice of wine and all normal soft drinks. Nile Special was expensive at 6000 schillings.
Food: Dinner, set menu of three courses. Main course had choice of 3 meats or vegetarian option. Served gracefully, tasted gorgeous. Breakfast; choose from a range of cereals, plus cooked eggs, sausage, bacon, toast with jam. Fresh fruit also provided. All supplied in copious quantities and at your chosen time (Game drives set off at 6am, so either eat early or return for breakfast).
Activities: Game drive is out of this world when it works. We saw a pride of six female lions with two cubs, a Hyena with a young warthog in its mouth, loads of waterbuck, Ugandan Kob, and water buffalo. Some of them stand and let you photograph – others run off. Elephants might be seen in the park but are more likely to be spotted crossing the main road as you pass by. Be ready to cringe when you see the squalid conditions in which the native fishermen live – they don’t help themselves.
The boat ride is a must-do adventure. See elephants bathing, crocodile, hippo’s and water buffalo basking, fish-eagle, dozens of smaller birds and a monitor lizard. Also traditional fishermen (who look after themselves better), ferry service and village people.
Overall: This lodge is excellent. If you look hard enough you will find flaws with fixtures and fittings, but it serves its purpose. The staff go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. It is handy for the game drive and boat trip. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Get a front row banda, the view is better. The front-row Banda closest to the complex is superior.

I had a wonderful weekend in Ihamba on In March 2013, we were welcomed pleasantly as soon as we stepped out of the car, with a cold towel, which I first thought was strange as am used to hot towels, but they were refreshing in the Ugandan afternoon heat, not forgetting the glass of banana juice. The food was great every single day with the chef going the extra mile to make every meal special, felt like I was right at home. The cottages were absolutely lovely, I especially loved the bath tubs and enjoyed a nice relaxing soak, and the view towards the lake in the mornings and evenings was great. We had a lovely Park drive, with the ever funny and intelligent tour guide Monday, we saw a pride of Lions at a kill hardly 15 minutes into the park and got to witness an angry buffalo try to chase them off the kill, it was amazing.

Overall I think Ihamba offers absolute value for money in comparison to other lodges in the area and it's proximity to the main road, national park and Kassel town are added advantages.

Room Tip: We used cottage 2, and it was perfect, the closer to the lake the better, 1,2,3 are good
