Beautiful setting; Excellent Service!!!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 12, 2016
I wasn't expecting much from this place, but I was blown away! 3 course dinner every night; clean rooms; full breakfast daily; free laundry service. Hot showers!!!!!!!

The open-air lounge and dining area is perfect, breezy, comfy couches and dining tables, a full bar and more. Joab & Charles have been trained extremely well in service.

The wi-fi is in the lounge only and is spotty at times; but not bad out in the middle of nowhere Africa.

After a long road trip to get to Queen Elizabeth Park, rolling up on the Simba Safari Camp was a welcomed relief. The facilities were rustic but very charming and had everything we needed and wanted. The rooms were great, the lounge was welcoming, the bar was well stocked, the food was delicious and plentiful and the staff was without reservation the best I encountered in Africa. They are friendly, professional, highly solicitous and work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. I would return here and highly recommend that you make it your headquarters when seeking out wildlife. I want to highlight the extraordinary service of James at the front desk and Wilson in the dining room - you gentlemen really made the tone of the camp wonderful.

Room tip: The ensuite bungalows are great - spacious, private, very comfy beds and an easy walk to all the amenities of the camp.

My friends and I stayed at Simba Safari Lounge for 6 nights and was pleasantly surprised by the kind and caring staff. James (manager), and Joab (bar/dining), were particularly helpful. My laptop keyboard died and James not only loaned me his office keyboard and mouse, he made a trip into Kasese just to get one for me for the rest of my trip.
The food was superb and we were eating three course, gourmet food!
The accommodations were great, and the turn-down service to spray the rooms for mosquitos and prepare the nets was an added touch.
The internet was spotty, but that was our only "complaint."
We will be staying for there for sure next year!
P.S. One of our team got up early morning and watched a herd of elephants walk by outside there fence!

      Dear James,

Greetings from sunny Uganda! Thank you so much for choosing to stay at Simba Safari Camp while on you just concluded safari. More to that, we are very grateful for the fact that you took the time off your busy schedule to write us a review on trip advisor. An honest review always goes a long way in helping us serve you better.

As you experienced from James & Joab's friendly service, all our staff are professional and courteous individuals who will stop at nothing to make sure that you get a dose of comfort in the wilderness. Our chef has made a habit of winning hearts over his three courses. We're also delighted to note that you rated our accommodations as great.

The internet is usually stable but given that our Internet Service Providers are still trying to improve coverage in the parks, it's intermittent connectivity at times but plans are in the pipeline to secure stabler internet access at the premises.

On behalf of the staff and management of Uganda Lodges, we'd like to thank you so much for residing with su and reviewing our property. The fact that you intend to come again next year leaves us very delighted, we look forward to hosting you again,

Oh, the elephants are our occasional guests too, they also love the staff & service at Simba Safari Camp. Next time if you're lucky you just might get a once in a lifetime opportunity to take a selfie with a lion. ;)

I spent 3 nights in the dorms; one night was free which was a low season offer. As it was low season I was at times the only guest staying there which meant I had the dorm to myself. There were about 9 beds in the room and just one fan so I can imagine during high season it could get quite crowded and hot in there. There were also only 2 ladies' showers so it's possible during high season there could be queues and the hot water might not last.
The quality of customer care was above excellent; the staff very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The food was also excellent although the 3 course dinner was too much for me. They only have a limited snack menu if you don't want to order the set meals but they can reduce the cost of the meal if you choose not to take all of the courses.
There is free wifi however it wasn't working when I was there.

I stayed at Simba Safari camp with a group of volunteer physicians in Uganda on a medical trip. The location was very close to the safari at Queen Elizabeth. While the accommodations are pretty basic in the rooms, it was the warm welcome and hospitality shown by James and his staff that made us grateful we did not spend the extra money to stay at the larger, more luxurious hotel nearby. The food was fantastic and the staff made sure all of our needs were met. Our last night they set a beautiful table for us outside under the stars. Would highly recommend Simba Safari Camp. James could not have been a more attentive manager.

      Hi Theresa,

Allow me to take this opportunity convey our sincere appreciation. First of all for trusting us to be your hosts while you were in Uganda. And secondly, for taking the time to review Simba Safari Camp. We really appreciate honest feedback such as yours.

We're very pleased to note that you would highly recommend Simba Safari Camp! All our staff are courteous and professional in equal measure, but none the less it's our pleasure that James managed to secure a special mention. Our promise is to give you comfort in the wilderness and to have done that infects us with boundless happiness.

Ours is a location that we also take pride in. I mean, there couldn't be a more convenient/appropriate place to camp/start your game drive than right at the entrance of the park! Our chef aims to win over your soul through your stomach, so dining under the stars must have surely sealed that deal!

On behalf of the staff and management, we'd like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your kind remarks. We look forward to hosting you again, hopefully sometime soon.

Until then, travel safe and don't be a stranger. :D

This is a very pleasant & convenient place to stay at this end of QEII nat'l park. Staff are friendly & helpful and well organized.

Breakfast appears on time....so you can get away quick for a morning game drive.
Meals were well planned and balanced. We enjoyed eating here.

The room was comfortable and they very nicely did some laundry for us.

The hot water in the shower....never really came on hot, but it was at least tepid for hair washing.

We would stay here again, if we returned to the area.
