I stayed here for two nights, and was very impressed by it. The views overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park are superb. The staff was very kind and eager to help. One of the employees was even kind enough to massage my ankle which I had twisted chimp trekking in Queen Elizabeth National Park, The rooms were comfortable, roomy, and very clean.
I enjoyed chatting to one of the managers. I can't say that I could find anything to complain about at Katara lodge.

We stayed at Katara Lodge for 2 days in the beginning of march 2013. We were a group of 12, traveling with a norwegian foundation. We stopped by Katara Lodge for a few days, and it is beyond fantastic!

The food is absolutely great. It must have been the best food i ate in Uganda, especially the steak. The view was fantastic, and the staff was incredibly nice.

I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to have a place where they can relax, enjoy great food, views and rooms, but also for those who wants to enjoy the exciting things in the area. It is the perfect place to come back to after a long day at safari or so.

Personally i found it pretty awesome that there was solar panels outside the lodges, and the water in the shower was actually hot.

Room Tip: Choose one where you can roll out the bed. Sleeping under the stars, and waking up to a view over th...

The property is beautiful -- the landscaping and buildings are all lovely. And the views looking over the valley and the park - just stunning.

The cottages are very large with a seating area, huge bathroom with shower and also a clawfoot tub, a 2nd bed which is on wheels to allow it to be rolled out onto the deck to sleep under the stars.
The lighting is rather dim at night so a flashlight or headlamp was useful getting ready for bed.

The pool area and pavilion with lots of comfy cushioned seating was very nice - it was a shame we didn't have enough time to to use it.

The food was very good and plenty of it - very generous portions. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.

The location was a bit away from QENP (a 40 minute drive each way) so that would be the one teeny detraction.

This lodge has great views from both the public areas and the rooms. The public areas are furnished with chunky wooden furniture with comfy cushions. There is a lovely corner to look out from and have a welcome ginger tea or juice. The dining area is on the other side. There are pretty lanterns hanging. Grounds are beautifully kept. Rooms are down steps and paths. These are very spacious with 2 large beds - one can be rolled out on to the balcony to sleep under the stars. Bathroom is huge with a bath as well as shower. This was probably the biggest room and bathroom we had during our stay in Uganda. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is good and one night we had a barbecue. We visited QE Park from here. I thoroughly recommend this lodge.

Friendly staff, really nice rooms, spectacular location and well managed.
The food was plentiful and fresh.
We did the chimps in the gorge trip - didn't see any chimps but did find the grumpy bull buffalo!

I'll start from the end, the place is not just for a regular trip to Uganda, the place was built to service those who are in an honeymoon.
We stayed there one night in January 2013, and enjoed every minute. The public spaces such as the dining room and sitting area are of great scenery, beginning of the day at breakfast, or drink a bottle of beer after a walking in the area. The bandas were the best in our two weeks in Uganda. Shower, bathroom, two beds one regular and one with wheels (for outside sun bathing). The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We did not use the swimming pool.
The garden surrounds the rooms allows to shoot birds photos without leaving the complex
The next time in Uganda we will come back

We stayed for two nights at Katara Lodge, and found it to be the perfect spot for accessing the QENP. The views from the site, and from the chalets, are absolutely stunning, but the Lodge was more than that! We found the staff to be really warm and helpful, and the chalets to be roomy and comfortable. There was even a bed on wheels which could be pushed out on to the balcony for an alfresco snooze! The food was varied and consistently good, and the bar well stocked. We roamed the park each day, but found that the highlight was the Crater Drive which provided us with some unforgetable images. We recommend this Lodge to any readers.
