Wonderful open terrace restaurant with great view. Ate here twice because it was so good. Liked the quirky menu - for instance the salad nicoise came with all the component ingredients but all in separate piles on a board and you were left to mix and match your own salad. Not sure if I would have this again but it was fun anyway first time! Service quick and efficient, everything clean and tidy and not expensive. Would happily recommend.

Saw this place being built when using Tatu bar next door (currently being refurbished). Returned 6 months later to find building completed and an aspiring restaurant and bar intent on giving great service at a reasonable price. Helpful staff and free wifi (that works!). I'd recommend a visit, interesting menus and good range of drinks. Barman Yussuf very helpful!

This newly opened venue has brought a fresh new dining style to Stone Town at last. Modern up to date fixtures and fittings makes this establishment really stand out from the usual stone town restaurants and is a welcome addition to the dining out scene. On arrival greeted by the hostess and shown to a table. we arrived quite early so there was plenty of good tables to choose from, though the place filled up fast after 1pm. there is an outside terrace which is the best place to sit during the day.inside there is a area with lounge type seating and a modern funky staircase which leads to more tables upstairs. A large wall mounted wine rack dominates the interior of the restaurant and becomes the focus point. Outside on the terrace, the view of the ocean is great so is the best place to sit. The whole place is spotlessly clean which was nice to see. The public area bathrooms also done in modern style though bathrooms were not as clean as it should have been by comparison to the rest of the establishment. down a passage is a semi open plan kitchen.
once seated and presented menus and wine lists (both of which are extensive and need time to go through), refreshing wet face cloths were presented and much appreciated. There are plenty of waiters around on hand as well which was good to see. we had at least 4 different people attend to us at some point during our visit. the waiters seem to be well enough trained and managed to take our orders without any errors and good to see that they repeat the order back to the patron to ensure that the order is correct.

now on to the food: I am a chef by profession and tend to judge harshly so bear with me here:

1. bread presented in little flower pots on a wooden board with several different flavoured butters pipped into little glass jars - very good
2. Had a starter of the Moroccan style chicken livers set on lettuce leaves - cooked to perfection and well presented - very good
3. My main was the lamb curry bunny chow. hailing from South Africa where this dish was invented i was keen to compare. Presented in a little flower pot again and jam packed to the top with lamb curry. nice presentation again however the bunny chow itself failed to impress. The lamb was very gamey / wild tasting, which can happen with lamb but was too over powering for the spices in the curry, (which means it was VERY gamey to cancel out the curry flavour.) i felt also that some condiments should have been served with the curry such as a little fruit based salsa and perhaps a homemade chutney - not too good but ok
4. my friend had the burger. again nicely presented on a wooden board with thick hand cut potato wedges, again in the little flower pot. he also ordered a side of mushroom sauce. - burger patty was homemade but had no taste of flavour what so ever even after adding cheese and avocado and bacon to the burger. very poor indeed. the potato wedges were good, nice and crispy. the mushroom sauce, well, could not taste any mushroom in it.-
5. for dessert ordered salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream - not too bad, hopefully in future they will make their own ice cream. the salt in the caramel was very subtle and overall ok.

total bill including tip for 2 persons was 100 000/
overall impression: not too bad, will try it again

My wife and I ate here twice and had a great night at the rooftop wine bar another night. I think this place is only open a few months, but if they keep the standards as high as try are now they will do very well in the years to come I think!

We had lunch and dinner here and there is an excellent and fairly extensive menu to choose from. Everything we had tasted so good and so fresh! There is an amazing view out across the Ocean and the restaurant has good shade from the heat and air con indoors. We found the staff both in the restaurant and the wine bar to be excellent, they were really friendly and helpful without being intrusive.

I'd highly recommend trying this place if you have a few days in Stone Town.
