The staff here are excellent - friendly and able to assist with most enquiries. Breakfast amazing as we people watched in the café downstairs. The location fabulous for a long wander or a quick trip out to dinner, as all restaurants and the night market are close by on well lit streets - easy to find too, which is a bonus. The owners support the community and have started a school for disadvantaged kids and orphans - I know my money went straight into the local community. Good one!

Although I didn't stay in the rooms, I visited the cafe a couple of times in April. It was clean and pleasant with friendly helpful staff. The food and drink was delicious and only boiled, clean water is used in food preparation. The cafe is supportive in the local community which is why I went there in the first place (it funds a local school and sells smoothies made with ingredients from the Seaweed Centre on Paje, a socially responsible business). I got caught in a ferocious downpour of rain just as I needed to leave for the airport and was lent an umbrella by a member of staff who had no guarantee of getting it back.

We enjoyed our stay in this cosy house in the middle of the old town. The restaurant downstairs serves a good breakfast and nice light meals . Not only tourists but also locals come for a coffee or a fresh fruitjuice. The very joyful and friendly Anna and her staff will help you with all your touristical wishes.
Special of this B&B is that they are supporting a school in Zanzibar for underprivilaged children: Creative Education Foundation of Zanzibar. They are also part of the worldwide "pack for a purpose" organization.

Room Tip: There are different rooms with different prices. We stayed in a comfortable small room, but the big...

It's all about location here, which is right where you want to be. We loved our spacious room; however, Wi-Fi was accessible only by standing smack up against the door or in the very uninviting hallway where the night manager (helpfully?) suggested I pull up a chair. Although I had asked for a quiet room, it was very noisy the first day but Judi soon took care of the problem by speaking to the neighbours. Both Judi and Anna were wonderful, arranging tours and making reservations. Don't expect any help, however, from the night manager. But, yes, we would definitely stay here again.

Stone Town Café is in the centre of Shangani, which is the centre of Stone Town, which is the most attractive place of Zanzibar Town. It’s the best starting point for your visit, and here you can get a very good lunch, based on local recepies. No beer… but a very special cup of coffee! It is also the only place in the town center, where you can enjoy, even while outdoors, tranquility and shade for a moment of relaxation.

I stayed here for ten days and can say that I truly felt like I was at home. The local staff are super friendly and capable (hats off to Anna). The owner is local which is great with me, as I know my money is going back into the community. I stayed in room one - nice and spacious, and quiet at night. Breakfasts are excellent and it seems the café is really popular for this reason. My long stay was discounted, so for me the value was excellent!
