We only stayed here for one night, but it covered all our needs; good central location, helpful staff, huge rooms and a decent restaurant. They also sourced an excellent and good-value guide for us to show us the town (ask for Mohamed).

Breakfast is served on the roof and is plentiful and excellent!

Room Tip: Avoid the ground-floor rooms are they are noisy at night.

I'm not going to beat around the bush, but everything about Kisiwa House is fantastic - if you are visiting Zanzibar, this lovely hotel should definitely be your first point of call on the island to soak up the delights of Stone Town! Breakfast was fantastic and the rooftop restaurant was great too - if you did want to venture out for dinner though, the Lazuli, Abyssinian Maritim Ethiopian and the Silk Route restaurants were each no more than a five minute walk away! With spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated rooms, fast WiFi, fantastic staff, Kisiwa House is the place to call home in Stone Town!

Kisiwa House was an ideal place for us to stay in Stone Town. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed, the staff is welcoming and warm, and it felt very safe to us. The restaurant is very good as well (open for breakfast and dinner only). The breakfast is good (eggs, fruit, toast, cereal, yogurt, etc) but the dinner and cocktails were exceptional.

Best of all, this place is in the ideal location in Stone Town. The famous Sunset Bar in the Africa House Hotel is only a few steps away, as is the street food fair in the park.

The hotel arranged a few things for us (a driver to Nungwi and a walking tour in Stone Town) and we found their prices to be very fair and in-line with tour operators in this area. The driver they hired for us had a very comfortable, clean, and air conditioned vehicle -- not always the case on the Zanzibar!

When staying in Stone Town again, we would definitely return to Kisiwa House!

Room Tip: The lower floor rooms get a lot of street noise. Ask for a room on a higher floor.

We just spend two nights in this old stone house converted into an hotel à few years ago. The setting and the decoration are good and the traveller will find all the basic amenities needed. The hotel is on the heart of the old ciity near by à few good restaurants. The hotel itself has a good eating place on a roof terrasse with à nice view. The staff is friendly and the place spotless. We reccomend this place to fellows travelers

Our stay at Kisiwa House was all too brief. Built many many years ago, with Arabian and African influence, and completely renovated only a few years ago, it has an intimate feel with only 11 suites. It is conveniently located right in the heart of the town in a quaint alley. Still with all its the heritage features it also has air conditioning, beautiful bathrooms, safes in the rooms and efficient WiFi throughout the hotel. The wonderful rooftop restaurant, with great views, was an ideal spot for breakfast and dinner, with the dinner menu particularly good. The staff, from reception to porters to dining-room to cleaners were so friendly they really made us feel special. Would definitely stay there again

Room Tip: If you find stairs difficult ask for a room on the first floor, but all rooms are great if you don...

I recently states here for 5 days. Although it was not the typical ocean front property it was very convienently located in a very safe neighborhood in stone town. I felt very safe both during the day and night ( they lock the doors at 10pm- but you can still come and go as you please). The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful ( they help to organize a snorkling tour). The rooms were vey spacipus and clean. And the rooftop dining for cocktails, breakfast and dinner was nice and refreshing with a view of the ocean, breeze and no bugs ;-)

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. I could describe every little thing but there's no point. Just stay there.

Only thing to say is that hotels.com gives this hotel 1 or 2 stars. That's a mistake. This is easily a 4 star hotel. If you can stay here for under $150 a night, you're getting a steal. If you're reading this I'm jealous bc it means you'll likely be staying here soon. Really a memorable experience!

Room Tip: There's no bad room in this hotel.
