We ate at Mercury's a couple of times. They have a good location by the water but beer is overpriced and costs more than it does in most places, even more than the Serena Inn - smartest hotel in town. Pizzas are good and very large - plenty for two to share.

We were at Mercury's when a huge storm blew in and a couple of hours of torrential rain ensued. This was OK until the management tried to close early (2030) and turf everyone out into the pouring rain! We understand that there was a problem with a leak in the kitchen, but surely they could have let customers sit there with a drink and maybe a pizza (made in the open area not in the kitchen) until the storm passed.

We sat here to catch to bite to eat before we boarded the ferry. It's a great spot to watch the boats come in. We ordered the pizza and were surprised at some of the options. Staff is a little slow, but the atmosphere is good

Is Mercury's a cliche? Yes. Do they go over the top with the Freddie connection? Yes.....but it's great. It's a great place for a drink, for lunch, for dinner and to watch the sunset. It is an institution in Stone Town. We went a few times during our 2 week stay there and yes, the service can be a little slow when it gets really busy - but the staff are rushing around trying to get to everyone. Be patient and smile....... you will get a drink and you will get food....and you'll get a smile back too.
The curries are excellent...the salads and pizzas a bit disappointing.
Go there you won't regret it.

This is WAY overpriced for the quality of the food. Also, the service was not good at all. We asked for two cokes and they never came until we asked 10 minutes later. Food was okay but considering it was close to $40 US dollars for a meal for two, I'd expect a lot better!

A nice place for dinning; lunch or dinner enjoy the ferry movement of boat ferrying between Zanzibar and Dar-es-Salaam
