Worth to see it in the evening. Great fresh seafood that you can choose from different stands. You eat your diner sitting at one of public bench in the park.

This place is Zanzibar, the sounds, the smells, the people, The Stowney Tangawizi (Ginger Beer) and the Zanzibar Pizza - a cross between an omelette and a pie. Definitely the place to be in the evening in Stone Town

Food was reheat and tasted terrible! Each booth had the same seafood and it was pretty much inedible. bread products were fine!

Mixed reviews by others it would seem, though, for me i loved being there. As a chef by profession, one can understand that i can be difficult. however, one must judge a place for it is and for what its trying to be. For me Forodhani gardens offers an intersting array of food in a carnival type atmosphere at reasonable prices. I did not feel harrased by anyone, saw little evidence of beggers or street walkers and the place was reasonably free of litter. My eyes ended up being bigger than my stomach as the saying goes and ordered way too much so ended up sharing with some local students who were hanging out and picking up girls. which brings me to another highlight of the gardens, which to check out the locals. Young couples strolling around and families with thier kids for me was a welcome sight of something also working for the local community and not just reserved for tourists. I think its worth a visit, even if you dont eat.

Head here for a Zanzibar pizza or Zanzibar mix. Finish off with a glass of freshly squeezed sugar cane juice and some peanut brittle. Be cooled by sea breezes and watch the Zanzibari life go by...
