Stayed a couple of nights at Three Trees. Enjoyed everything about this place. Food was great, walking safari was neat, and the local battlefield tours were very interesting.I would love to go back to this place someday.
thanks Simon and Cheryl!

Just finished a four day stay in paradise. Beautiful lodge, terrific owners and staff, delicious food, and a game park next door with white rhino! super kid friendly with lots of dogs and kids to play with. Much to do: horses, mountain biking, hiking, or just sitting on the terrace watching the incredible scenery.

The lodge is family owned and run. Simon, Cheryl, their 4 children and 6 dogs make you feel like family. Raina and William round out the “family” and the staff are as sweet and accommodating as can be. We had the good fortune to spend 3 nights at this amazing place following our safaris in Botswana, Swaziland and Sabi Sands area. We stayed in the Churchill cabin which is a little further away from the main area but very comfortable with 2 bedrooms with en-suite baths separated by a kitchen, comfortable sitting area and fireplace. Sitting on the veranda you could see into the neighboring reserve - rhino in the distance, along with zebra, giraffe and blesbok. The food was amazing – fresh and plentiful and always hosted by one of the family. Don’t miss the opportunity to go on a walking safari with Simon. We had some amazing excellent views and tracked 3 adult rhino and at the end also came across an adult female with her new calf. Sadly our time ended too soon with sundowners on a beautiful evening with a view of the water and dam below, hosted by the entire Blackburn family - both two legged and four legged. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with great food and company, this is the place to stay.

We took my Mum for a three day 75th birthday treat and what a treat it turned out to be! We had chosen to stay in the two bedroom cottage called Churchill's and enjoyed every minute of staying in this spotless, gleaming floored, stylish, comfortable and incredibly warm little slice of heaven - great beds, beautiful linen, lovely bathrooms (two, both en-suite), lush lounge area with fireplace, deck with incredible view - it was all gorgeous. The staff were truly outstanding (Ntombeko, Thuli and Gloria stood out but they were all fantastic) The food we ate was completely fabulous, freshly prepared, home grown comfort food - we had breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner included in our rate and we enjoyed every delectable mouthful. There were so many wonderful stand-out things - hot water bottles waiting for us in our beds after dinner, a folder on the table with maps for walks on the vast property, binoculars and bird books on the chest of drawers in our cottage, an enormous collection of historical books, photographs and battlefield memorabilia, an award winning wine list, gregarious owners (and their wonderful dogs), shared conversations with hosts and fellow travellers around the enormous dining table. Three Trees at Spioenkop is where complete attention to detail is prevalent in everything they do (they are also Fair Trade accredited and are committed to aiding and bettering the nearby community) a feel good environment and atmosphere has been achieved as a result.. I highly recommend that you try Three Trees for yourselves, we found it faultless!

There is a moment in life when you experience something quite extraordinary and a visit to 3 Trees Hill is one of those times. I rate it as my favourite destination ever and for a few reasons. Firstly the staff and owners are welcoming and treat you as family; then the food is certainly a huge attraction (fresh, healthy and home made and each meal a little adventure); the general commitment to the environment (practical without being preachy); the Fair Trade accreditation is positive, at least you know that the lodge is ethically run!); the fact that there is a game reserve net door with access (guided access on walks); I could go on and on.
The only way to experience what I and my friends have enjoyed is too book yourself in.

Room Tip: If you are 2 couples, try Churchills! Just a little out of the lodge and self-catering. Stunning pla...

Food, atmosphere, landscape, activities, accommodation: it was just perfect and I could not think of anything that could possibly be improved.
Every single detail at Three Trees Hill Lodge reveals taste, attention and care.

We stayed 2 nights in mid May and could have easily stayed one week.
We went horse riding and hiking, sipped wine at the sunset and spent time with the owners' family and dogs. It's like an amazing home away from home.

Do not miss a bubble bath at sunset time: the window on the side of the bath offers the most relaxing view ever.

Thank you to Simon and Cheryl for such a pleasant and unforgettable stay.

We only stayed for one night but could have stayed for more! The small touches are lovely (vintage products, solar glass jars on the verandas etc) and the rooms/individual cottages are very comfy. Dinner was good, breakfast too, a very homely place with wonderful views of Spioenkop. One tip, if you don't like communal dining, this may not be for you, but if you like meeting other people and socialising, this is what is on offer.
