“Lovely dinner”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Had dinner here on a quiet Sunday night. Service was great and portions were huge. My bacon wrapped scallops and my wife's salad were extremely good starters. The chicken riggies and seafood linguine ( loaded with calamari, clams and shrimp ) were very good as well. I had room for a cannoli for dessert to finish and that was it. As others have commented before, the décor
leaves much to be desired here, a little ambiance would be nice. We just pass through here from time to time travelling or on shopping trips and haven't eaten in too many places and while our
meal was very good, if this place is #1 in Watertown they are in dire need of some outstanding
eating establishments. Prices were very good on food and wines and beer but wine selection
could have been a little more extensive.

“Real Italian”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Just spent 2 weeks in New York and this was the best meal yet. The meat sauce was terrific. The eggplant Neopolitan and veal Parmesan were great. The only thing I can't figure out is why they serve plain white (homemade) bread with the Italian food? It's good but I would have thought garlic bread would be better. Overall, great food and service.

“Come Here for the Food Not the Atmosphere”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

We ate here at the suggestion of family we were meeting for dinner. We had made a reservation as it was Friday night and a bit crowded. Menu made it difficult to choose with so many great selections. Service was good, though they did forget our bread, but our meals made us forget that. Look forward to returning and trying more. This is one of the few non chain restaurants nearby and well worth the visit.

“Nothing spectacular but the food...ooolala”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

This restaurant is highly rated in this area and for good reason: the food - best Italian within a good 150 miles. Service was good but food order took over 35 minutes; however, worth the wait.
Our server was friendly but not overly so. She cannot be faulted for the kitchen's slowness.
Bread was served beforehand and it cam close to being a complete loaf! Talk about fresh and excellent! Also: the best, by far, lobster bisque this writer has ever exerienced in over 38 years of heavy travel and this is the truth. Don't believe it? Try it.
Easily located (just off the main drag, Arsenal St.) and not problems with access from just about any hotel or motel in the area.
The ambiance was nothing to write home about but adequate. Restaurants are usually rated in Good service and great food. This one had both and that's all that is necessary to enjoy a good-great meal in a quiet atmosphere. Although it was a bit pricey it is still recommended.

“Rare Gem”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

This was a first time eating at Pete's for my partner and I and our two double digit grandchildren. After a day of school shopping, we found Pete's on Trip Advisor and were seated in an "unassuming" dining room where the waiter handed us menus that had an extensive list of mouth-watering Italian foods; she also mentioned a number of "Specials" that included a beef stew with mushroom risotto and Steak Pizzaolla with French Fries.
After some deliberation, we started with calamari that was perfectly fried and served with a spicy tomato sauce that was not too hot. We each had a dinner salad that included "greens," fixed olives, and homemade dressings according to our individual tastes. A large loaf of homemade bread with seasoned olive oil was also brought to the table.

The youngest among us ordered a "small" pizza; next was homemade, overstuffed cheese ravioli. I had chicken cacciatore with homemade Rigatoni and my partner ordered the steak pizzaolla but asked if he could substitute the fries with macaroni. The waiter checked and asked if he would be satisfied with homemade fettuccine. YES! YES! YES!
Everything was wonderful; all the tomato sauces were slightly different - seasoned to compliment the dish. We were too full for dessert but we were pleased.

My partner & I are from L.I., a suburb of NYC and our grandchildren live an hour from Watertown; the 4 of us agreed that Pete's is a rare find and a place we will return to when we are in the neighborhood..
