We've eaten here several times because some family members consider it the best restaurant in Watertown, but I hope this isn't the best Watertown has to offer. If you go, order the appetizer that consists of small peppers stuffed with some kind of cheese; it's an outstanding dish. The rest of the food isn't as good, unfortunately. The red sauce for pasta is bland. A fish dish with citrus sauce was so heavily breaded that it seemed almost fried, and the citrus sauce was like orange juice thickened with cornstarch. Other dishes over the years have also been disappointing, although clearly Watertown natives like the way the food is cooked. Overall: big city prices without corresponding quality--except for those peppers, which are worth a trip in themselves.

"Many of the dishes at Sboro's are rare and exclusive to the area. In addition to Watertown's best steaks, Sboro's serves a variety of seafood, chicken, veal and pasta dishes."
Just a sample of their advertising on the website, as well as 15 years in business, and to be honest from the time we arrived (the host was not very welcoming) until we left the two of us were not terribly impressed. The waitress seemed friendly, lots of water and bread were offered, the specials reviewed and we settled on the Cajun seafood dish, and the rib eye (Art's special). The prices seemed to reflect a higher level of cuisine, I expected a bill of about $60.00US including one drink each, no dessert, but coffee. Salads to start were good, my ceasar was very fresh, light, and well balanced. the beer and wine list was extensive, fairly priced, and we expected a good meal. To be really honest the steak could have been pork or veal, I couldn't tell as it was drenched in a mushroom sauce, but was done the way I requested. Potatoes were mashed and hot. The seafood with scallops, shrimp and a fish filet was very highly salted, beyond a comfort level, and when we called back the waitress she tried to dissuade us from returning the meal as "no other patron found it too salty". Didn't appreciate the argument, but she did smile. We tried the seared tuna and baby spinach, a very well presented dish but bordering on sushi, a little more cooking would have helped. The wasabi sauce was on the side as requested, a nice dijohn base, but could have used lime. Finished the meals with a smoky decaf coffee and the bill was $55.00. All in all, we won't come back, but the way the "host" was visiting tables (but not ours) there seems to be no shortage of return patrons. I can't understand why people pay a higher than average price for mediocre service and food, but I guess we did, and no thanks to the Ramada front desk that recommended this place. No one said good night or thanks for coming. Two thumbs down on Sboro's..Sorry Art!
