The staff at this establishment are engaging, kind, courteous and most helpful. We experienced a very warm welcome at check in.
It is clear that a lot of effort has been put into the rooms. Nice comfortable beds, tea facilities, seating on the stoep etc. Lovely well kept garden.
However there are a number of lapses that give a mediocre rating.
A strong disinfectant smell in the room - after 3 days it followed our luggage into the car! The curtains were about six inches shorter than their linings. The quilt and scatter cushions were not clean. Lovely bathroom, but no towel rails and limited table top area. The soap and shampoo dispenser didn't work and were never replenished. The floor outside the bathroom floor was rickety.
Nice touch to have complimentary bottled water in the room, also rusks with the tea and coffee facilities in the room. However you pay R10 for a tea bag at breakfast!
Meals were nice, but it did seem that the kitchen battled to cope with more than two or three tables. The wine list is limited, but the prices are reasonable. Meal service was friendly.
So while it is advertised as 4 star, the experience is more 2 -3, but could easily be fixed.
