“A wonderful hotel in Glacis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The property is very well maintained and the staff very kind and helpful. We stayed one week in a "hillside room with wiev", e g the room is located om the other side of the road. Very, very nice room! Afternoon tea in the garden every day. Free wireless in the garden area and in the hotel reception. A pool area was finished the week we stayed there. They also worked with a "sea pool". Free beach towels and a nice little beach dowm by the hotel. Easy to go by bus til Beau Vallon (costs 5 SR/person) and its nice, long beach and restaurants. Very good breakfast. Dinner alternatives at the hotel, was... nothing to write home about. Bu threre is a restaurant, Lounge8, just beside the hotel. Expensive, but very good! One secret 5-course dinner och one 3-course dinner every night. Very relaxed and nice place. Recommended!

Room Tip: If you choose a room on the "hillside", with seawiew, you'll have a excellent wiew bot...

My wife, son and I stayed for four nights in August. The hotel is in Glacis which is north of Beau Vallon, which as others have written is a nice small resort with a couple of great eating places (The Boathouse and Baobab). The hotel has a bus stop just outside but the buses stop quite early and so you'll need a taxi back (16 euros) which makes it an expensive evening meal. There is a restaurant next door and although it looked nice it was a litte expensive and pretentious for a family meal.

As for the hotel we were a little disappointed. Essentially it had gone out of business in the 80s and had been given a rather basic 'shabby chic' makeover which unfortunately looked better in the photos than in reality. Furhtermore there were two sides: beach side and hill side. The rooms in the former are in the hotel and have some lovely sea views and beach access but the hill side rooms are pretty basic and have little attraction. Breakfast hillside is served outside a converted room with a simple kitchen and is basic fare.

Our overall stay was marred by our booking through Allo Booking. Essentially they misadvertised the price of a hotel side room which we booked and when they spotted their mistake said that the room would not take three people and that they would upgrade us to a bigger room. We had in fact not been upgraded at all and ended up in a hillside room with a rack rate cheaper than we had paid. Our four night stay ended up costing us around 300 Euros more than it should have, and despite the promise of a refund from Allo Booking and Bliss Hotel this is still awaited.

The Hotel is very good located in Glacis area... The property is very well maintained and the staff very kind and helpful. We stay in 2 different rooms both nice and clean with a nice, big terrace... coffee, tea and cookies in the afternoon very appreciated like the free wireless in the garden area. The beach just in front of the hotel is absolutely amazing and a very good place for snorkeling too. The bus stop to/from Victoria is very good located in front of the hotel, in case u don't have a car to discover the island, the bus is a good option.
I really suggest this hotel, a very good place to stay in Mahé.

Booked a suite - was potentially very nice - but was tired, strangely planned and totally overpriced...and no opening windows (we were adviced to keep the door - that didnt actually close - closed for security!) Reception stiflingly hot - with sweating staff - and thus I found my 5 year old perched on lethal steps with a woobly non-balustade. This led down to a rickety faded wooden terrace (all very Ibiza-zen chic?) with lovely views and cheap wobbly and open balustrade - perfect for the inevitable life-threatening fall onto rocks for anyone under 15 years. As they accept kids without a 'warning of serious injury' - I feel it is down-right irresponsible for the hotel to have such a risk - unless I had held onto my daughter constantly she would have no doubt fallen. Food and drinks hilariously overpriced - and quite limited (even though there is a random trendy restaurant next door with no menu!). Room service choice for kids was poor - and vitually in-edible (altough to be fair my ravenous daugther liked her frozen pizza at 12EU). My wife had a motorway service station burger! Any Posetives? - yes actually the staff we dealt with tried their best and were helpful and quite charming. Also beach was quite nice and so was the rock-pool Really, honest - its a potentially nice place - though it needs a major refub - -- and dont take your kids ---- maybe they should just keep it for adults - and halve the price?

Room Tip: Upper floor suites look nice - youll need to re-mortgage

Bliss Hotel was a great little rustic, boutique hotel to stay at away from the resorts, It had nice touches of simplicity and colours, and the rooms were always filled with sunshine and positive energy. The location was perfect and the bus stop was at your feet where you could meet and chat with the friendly locals. Alternatively the hotel staff were quick to organise a taxi or a hired car.

My room was on the waterfront which made my stay truly special with spectacular views of the sunset, boulders and cocunut trees as you sat on your balcony enjoying the private beach and surroundings. The management (Sheila) and welcoming staff (Cherrie) were all helpfull, informative and pleasant. The wi-fi in the quaint lobby was always accessible. I recommend the Bliss Hotel as it had the cozy personlised features that is lacking on the island. A definite YES !!!

Room Tip: Seaside rooms have better views and comfort than the Hillside rooms!!!

Well, we checked into the "Wave Suite". The name was apt since it was on the seaside.
The first impression of when I went out to the balcony was that I'd been air-dropped into paradise.
It was that time of the day (fairly early) when no other guests were around and we had a feeling of having the whole place to ourselves... Anyhow, paradise would be too mild a word to describe most of Seychelles itself, anyway.
If you are looking for a strictly Creole experience though, this hotel may not be the right choice.
But great service, wholesome, delicious (though expensive) food and a really friendly staff.
Yeah, one thing though - "sparse curtains". Hope they have fixed that since then.
What more could you ask for?
Besides, I loved our spa like bathroom with just a tiny hatch that opened out to the sea and the essential oil burners wafting out heavenly aromas into the room...
I just loved it.
Trust me, you would too :)
