My husband and I spent six days on the island for our Honeymoon. Let me just say that we had the most relaxing time ever! I would recommend this resort for couples who are not too discerning, who don't mind a little informality but who also want to relax and feel pampered. But working in a 5 star hotel, I have definitely become a customer-focused freak of sorts and a perfectionist and could definitely spot areas that the hotel could improve on.

The pre-arrival experience was great: the guest relations agents were really efficient, and replied to emails very promptly. I even requested a surprise birthday cake for my husband and a romantic bath, which we found awaiting us in the villa upon our arrival. However, in the correspondence we were told that we would be upgraded to a hideaway villa, but weren't upon arrival. I suppose they meant this would be given upon availability, but wasn't properly communicated to us. Never mind, we were on our honeymoon and our villa was amazing so nothing would break our stride!

The front office staff are great, really helpful and friendly! Hubert and Myriam were our favorite who went out of their way to help us.

The arrival experience itself is great, with fresh citronella ice tea, cold towels and explanations of the hotel facilities. The villas are nothing less than stunning; large bedroom together with a living room, plasma tv, mini bar etc...The open bathroom was our favorite...large jacuzzi bath for two, large double sink vanities, mirrors and an outdoor shower. Showering under steaming hot water while having cold raindrops falling around you has to be the best feeling in the world! The hotel is really conscious about water use which is also really great. The large closet area was really nice although we found it so frustrating that the rooms did not have an iron and board, and that you would be charged for pressing!!

The villas are cleaned really nicely, and the housekeeping staff are nice. However, simple things such as replenishing body wash, conditioner, creamer etc had to be asked for. Its the little things that make a big difference.

The food is really good here...meal types are set menus or buffets depending on occupancy. We had set menus most of the time, and really couldn't complain. You get to choose between two soups, then starters, main course and dessert. We thought that the chef coming out to speak to each couple was a great personal touch. Most of the F&B staff were really friendly and our favorite was Manda who would always have little conversations with us. I think that others could really use some training in customer service, e.g. smiling, greeting guests when walking by, speaking softly to other co-workers around guests etc. Its so cliche, but in the end its really the little things that make the experience. Also, with a resort this small, I think using the guest name rather than sir/madam would really make a huge difference. On another note, you MUST order the 'Coconana' mocktail. It is the BEST drink in the world!! I think the bar's revenue shot up that week because of us!

There's loads to keep busy at the resort and on the island. During the day, you can carry snorkelling equipment onto a kayak or pedallo, and go all around the island. We fell upon this great sand bank between cerf and ile cache, and discovered amazing sealife!! However, a word of caution..if you do get stuck on a sand bank on low tide, tend to stay in the kayak! some shells can be very sharp! We also enjoyed the two swimming pools, watching movies from the dvd collection at the lobby, walking along the large stretch of beach etc. A must-do is to grab a beer, climb up to the heli-pad and enjoy an almost-360 view of the neighbouring islands and a warm sunset! The Latanier Spa is also great, and the masseuse (Beryl i think) was sooo friendly!

We also had a lovely candlelight dinner on the beach with a bonfire, candles and lanterns. So romantic!

Without a doubt, we will return to this place. As I said, if what you're looking for is 5 star customer service, then maybe staying at a Hilton or Four Seasons is the way to go. But if like us, you just need to get away from noise, cars and every day life and just relax, then visit Cerf!

Room Tip: Ask for a villa away from the Housekeeping/Maintenance block as changing shifts/canteen hours can be rather noisy. Also, if you can afford a hideaway villa, go for it!

Dear Genevieve P,
Thank very much you for your positive review and constructive feedback.
We are very happy you enjoyed your time at the Resort and we are glad we managed to make your stay special and something to remember.
Be reassure that your comments have been noted and all the relative departments have been brief accordinghly. We are trying hard everyday to provide the best service possible, a 5 star service as you call it, and I believe so far we managed to do so even if we are only a 4 star Resort.
We are looking forward to host you once again soon and I am positive that, on your next visit, we wil not disappoint you.
Wishing you all the best for your future married life together.

Best Regards

My wife and I chose Cerf for our wedding and honeymoon, previous reviews weren't promising but with new management we were very pleased with an incredible wedding and stay. The treatment was professional, every detail was taken care of and Sandrine, Georgio and staff went above and beyond to accommodate any special requests. It's a great place for a wedding, honeymoon or getaway for couples. The rooms are fabulous with tranquil scenery of the jungle of fruit trees below and ocean view. Very private and the free use of paddle boats, kayaks, and snorkel gear allowed us to escape to near by islands for day excursions. It's been a month and looking at the photo's brings us right back to moments on Cerf Island. We highly recommend it!

Just got back last night from one of our most memorable exotic holidays. We were treated like 'king & queen'. Sandrine and Georgio are the most fantastic managerial hosts anyone could hope for, they are very 'hands on' and concerned that you have an enjoyable stay. Ask about anything and they are there with the answer. They have only managed the hotel for 6months but are very knowlegable about the area.
We arrived on a Qatar flight (faultless) at 0730hrs to be picked up by a sleek company car and taken 5 mins down the road to Eden Island boat mariner where we were picked up by speedboat to take us to the island 10mins away. Our only upset was that the boat was very late but this was do to a technical fault of the boat? Greeted on island with cold towels and cool drink and explained where everything was. We thought we may have to wait until 2pm to get into our villa but, we thankfully were allowed to take up resident straight away.
The villas are on a steep hillside. After the first 2 days our calves started to ache, but it was a great way to tone up the legs! If you didn't want to walk then there are staff around with little golf trollies that would take you to where ever you wished to go, great dodgem ride! Go up to the Helipad, great views of the other surrounding islands.
Food was absolutely gorgeous. We didn't use the A la Carte menu at all, there was no need. Restaurant staff were good, especially little Manda. If you needed a packed lunch, this was no problem, they even supplied a cool bag. We went to Victoria on Mahe, 10mins by Cerfs boat. (free to use at 0830 and 3.30pm). To use the boat at any other time it is 10 euros pp single ticket. We visited the Botanical Gardens and then we took a local bus to Beau Vallon which was a good experience and to see the other side of Mahe island.
We had an early flight home, leaving Cerf at 0430hrs. My husband thinking of his stomach was concerned about an early breakfast at that hour in the morning, but he needn't have worried as when we got to our villa the evening before there was a tray of sliced fruit and pastries etc! They think of everything at this place! Tea/coffee making facilities in room, but no hot chocolate which would have been nice. If I'd of asked I would of got some supplied I'm sure.
Currency mostly used is the Seychelles Rupee but Euros excepted widely. Plugs are the same as in the UK, 3 square pin. We didn't use the Spa as we thought it was over priced. There is no fitness centre (thank God!) Mosquitos are about but you do have a mozzie net around the four poster bed.
Tipping is very easy. This is always at the visitors discretion, but when we paid our final account they add what you wish and this would then be divided between ALL staff. Also they have a 'Employee of the Month' that you can name someone who was exceptionally helpful. We found this difficult as every member of the team were wonderful!!!
If you need to ask anything just email me on pmdental@btopenworld.com. Hope you found this write up helpful. Thanks all at Cerf Island Resort.

Room Tip: Hillside villas we thought were the best. The Hideaways, you get a garden? and the Tortoise villas too large?

We spent 3 days in cerf island where we felt at home when arriving. The rooms in small bungalow spread around thecliff are just perfect. The terrace offer privacy and confortable place to relax in the evening. The partially open air bathroom is also great. The staff is very friendly especially Sandrine who was always paying attention.
The beach is small but you can take a kayak and explore farer.
I would recommand for a relaxing stay.

We always read reviews before choosing a holiday destination and can say that anyone who has something bad to say about Cerf Island resort will always be a minority.

This is a fantastic place to stay and really is a little paradise. The accommodation exceeds anything we have ever stayed in or ever likely to.

What strikes you is the way that the accommodation has been set into the surroundings without destroying the natural beauty which gives a feel of seclusion. The whole resort nestles in well kept existing tree’s and planted areas with fruit trees, palms, flowering Hibiscus and many other beautiful flowering shrubs and trees.

Food, well we love trying new things and enjoy our food and we were not disappointed far from it. Food was served quickly and the staff were always friendly and quick to smile and engage in conversation which made us feel at home. We only had one lunch in the entire time we were there as we felt that the breakfast was so good we just did not need anything until evening. The evening meal was fantastic many variations and we did not get offered the same meal twice in the 8 days we spent on Cerf.

We had a daily walk up to the helipad just to take in the view which is brilliant; you can see from here the main land and all surrounding islands. Don’t forget to enjoy the view on the way up of the resort too.

Cerf resort has two beaches both offering some natural shade from tree’s when you need it and plenty of sunshine when you don’t. You also have two infinity pools to choose from with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. From the beach you can take a pedelo or kayak and the snorkelling in the shallow waters are very good with plenty of fish both large and small so I recommend an underwater camera. It is possible to kayak around the island or pedelo if you wish.

The resort offers a boat service to and from the main land so hop on and take the opportunity to visit Mahe it is well worth the trip. We visited the botanical gardens amongst others but knew that we had to leave something as we really would like to visit again.

Finally I must say the staff and I do mean all staff were great, they were efficient friendly and made you feel welcome and made us feel that we would want to return and they would welcome us back. The management of Cerf Resort will helpyou in anyway possible. If they can make your holiday a holiday of a lifetime they will. There really is nothing they wont do within their power to ensure you have a great holiday.

In summary a great resort, great food, great beach, great staff, great accomodation and a beautiful place to relax.
