Was part of a group that tried to summit Toubkal earlier this year (very late with my review... sorry Jamal!). The only thing that stopped us doing it was some unseasonably late snow.

Really well organised by Jamal, and he and Ibrahim were excellent company throughout the trek. From the buses that picked us up from Marrakech, to the meals cooked at the Refuge below the summit, everything was spot on.

The whole experience was awesome - but do bear in mind that the refuges are at over 3,000metres, so they are pretty basic and you have to do everything a bit more slowly at altitude.
But, it's not just the altitude that's breathtaking - the mountains are stunning.

If you're in any doubt, just do it!

Jamal organised a cab to pick us up from our riad in Marrakesh which was on time and the driver was very friendly and knowledgeable although predominantly in French. Arrived in Imlil and was met by Jamal, our guide Driss, our chef Mohammed and our mule Jacqueline and quickly got on our way. The food was great if excessive in quantity, a tagine for dinner, salads for lunch and a hearty breakfast. Plenty of mint tea too. Driss was great, very fit and able to judge or pace well. I should also point out that this was the first day of Ramadan, so Driss did the whole thing without food or water during the day! He told us lots about the area and having grown up there he knows a fair thing our two. We stayed at one of the refuges and met lots of other walker there and got up circa 3am for breakfast then up to the summit. Driss knew the way even in the dark and lent us his head torch! Tough climb up but first there, then Driss took us down a different way. Steep but with shingles so you could plant a foot and slide down the mountain a few feet, lots of fun. Driss was in his element! Back down to Imlil by around 1 ish and in to a taxi back to Marrakesh. Great trip, thoroughly recommended.

The trek was organised well by Jamal, although it might be easier for him if he has a standardised approach - we had to request a kit list rather than being provided one. The kit list we received was accurate, and I wouldn't scrimp on the warm clothes expected. Food was very good throughout and travel arrangements slick. You can leave your main bag in Imlil and collect it at the end of the trek if you do not wish to see your luggage strapped to the side of a mule! If this is the case, make sure you take another small bag for your sleeping bag and overnight items as you will trek with just your day sack for water, clothing etc.

Our guide (Hasam) was good - although be warned that there is the potential for an overly-customer-oriented approach. We wanted a professional opinion on whether it was possible / sensible to continue our first day's trekking to include the summit itself (leaving just the walk out for the second day) and the guide was too accommodating, being unwilling to give an opinion, and just saying that he would support the customers' wishes. Another guide gave us his opinion, and we decided to follow the set plan - which was absolutely the right decision given the step up in intensity for the actual summit.

This trek was more challenging that I anticipated, but I think that might have something to do with the unseasonably windy (and therefore cold) weather we had on summit day. The first day walk in is benign and perfectly pleasant, but the adventure steps up a gear on the summit attempt. Expect a sharp gradient, very loose underfoot, snow patches and downhill scree routes. But also expect stunning views from the roof of North Africa - very beautiful and well worth the effort. Feels a lot more like a decent peak 'bagged' than a standard holiday trek. Be aware that the 2 day trek will be a 'there and back' route, as a circular route requires more time.

Overall we're very glad that we bothered to get out and about and doing something physically exerting to counterbalance the sightsee-shop-eat cycle of the Medina. Highly recommended tour operator.

This was an excellent trip from start to finish. Well organised and executed - nothing was too much trouble and everything was planned down to the last detail. The transport was always on time, vehicles were excellent as was the driving. The food was also excellent, extremely tasty with plenty of variety. How someone can cook pasta perfectly on a camping gas stove at over 3000 metres is beyond me and my culinary skills!

The trek guides were absolutely brilliant, walked at a steady pace and always waited for the slower members of the group. The altitude was never a problem, everyone was fine - this was probably helped by the steady pace of ascent.

Health and safety was always paramount and we never felt in danger, we knew our guides put safety first. We weren't able to summit Toubkal because of the weather but this was clearly explained.

The refuge was basic but this was expected, we had it to ourselves which we preferred and really enjoyed our stay there. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Jamal and his team and Jamel made sure that all our needs and wants were met!

I would definitely recommend Jamal and have booked to go and attempt the summit again in August - hopefully it will have stopped snowing by then!

If you are thinking of going to the Atlas mountains then book with Jamal - he's the best!

This experience was simply incredible.
I was part of a group of 10 doing this trek. I am not the fittest or most elegant of walkers either!
However, from the minute we left Marrakech and headed to Imlil it was evident we were in very safe hands and were going to have a fab time.
Jamal and his colleagues, Ibrahim (another guide) and Mohammed (the chef) were incredible.
Ibrahim and Jamal were excellent guides and enssured our comfort and safety at all times.
Mohammed prepared the most fantastic meals 3 times a day including afternoon pancakes as a treat! Amazing considering all he had was a simple gas stove.
On the last day when we had finished the trek, Jamal invited us to his family home for a glorious lunch in the sunshine with spectacular views.
The scenery and adventure we all had the privilege of experiencing can not be justified through words-the best way is to go and see this amazing place with these 3 superb gentlemen as your guides. Their kindness and attention to ensuring we were all happy was
Our faces not only hurt from the wind and at times the blizzards due to the unseasonal weather but from the endless laughing and fun too.
I can thank Jamal and his colleagues or recommend this adventure enough.
