Our 1st visit to Mauritus on this our 25th Anniversary. Chose the Hotel based on the recent reviews and we were not dissapointed.

Thay have had a fairly recent partial refurb and the Sea View rooms are Clean and fresh looking. The pool area now has decking and outside seating to enjoy the balmy evenings and sit listening to the Indian Ocean lapping the bech nearby. We stayed 1 night in a Garden Room and it was clean but looked a little tired. Our room was on the 4th floor, no lift but a great view of the ocean and lagoon

Food was always good, often excellent and occasionally outstanding. Buffet Breakfast was fresh and replenished regularly. Eggs and pancakes cooked to order. Lots of fresh fruit but a lack of Lychees (Surprising as they were in season and all over the island). Lunch was a buffet again there would be a freshly cooked meat and fish dish with a Curry/stew on the buffet with loads of salad and fruit. The evening meals ware 3 buffets a week with a 'waiter served' meal on 4 nights with a full 4 course menu we found this a nice touch to your normal all incluive stay. However Starter and soup were one choice and there was either a fish of meat dish. If you are a vegetarian you will just have to let them know your choice in advance and they were happy to cater for all tastes. Same goes for the Starter or soup.
Sounds limited but the quality of the produce and the presentation was excellent and occasionally the plate looked like it had come from a fine dining restaurant. Drinks were fine. House wine was ok. Tasted better as the night went on....
The service at this place was exceptional, but relaxed and friendly. You will find your favourites and they will get to know you and your likes/dislikes very quickly.
Evening entertainment was low key and took place during the meal and ran on about half an hour after. John the pianist would start the evening off during meal service. Then the act would follow. Mostly singer/musician acts but they were slightly repetitive but easy listening for the most part.
Small beach front but a large garden area just back from the beach meant there was never a shortage of space (the hotel was only at 75% occupancy during our visit) and bed hogging did not seem to be a problem. People would just come down and claim their bed before doing breakfast, which seemed to work ok.
We did a fishing trip on Luna with Biaggio for half the price the reps were asking and he is licenced and a good kid. We had 3 good Dorado on our trip.
We also visited the falls and Isle Cerf, again thro the hotel not the rep and it was a very pleasant change. We took the local bus to the nearest market for £1 (return fare for 2) which was very colourful and pungent..., worth a look. After that we decided the hotel was so good we just stayed there. Sad really but it was a perfect relaxing holliday.
Beach activities were ok. Peddalos, snorkelling gear, kayaks and a windsurfer were all avalable from about 9am to 4pm. Snorkelling was best either to the left or the right of the hotel frontage where there were 2 rocky outcrops. The left side hade a live reel with all the associated fish which were all partial to a bit of breakfast bread.

This is not a 5* hotel nad neither does it try to be. However I have stayes at higher rated hotels than this and the Silver Beach beats them hands down on Service and food (despite the slightly limited choice). If you are a fussy eater then you might consider a larger hotel, but I would wholeheartedly reccommend this hotel and would also stay here again on our next visit.

Thanks to all the Staff, It made our Holliday all the more memorable.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms on the ground floor were very convenient for the bar/rstrnt but not as good a view as...

We had been to Mauritius before; to The Bouganville next door, and we had seen the Silver Beach on our beach walks so we knew a bit about it before we booked. On arrival we noted the 5 star rating from Trip Advisor being displayed in the reception. We thought no hotel can be this good. We were proved wrong. We had a garden room for the whole of our stay although the hotel promised us an upgrade to a sea view which we declined as we were happy with the room allocated on arrival. All the staff without exception were smily and fiendly . In the dining room for an 'all inclusive package ' you get buffet style meals. On four nights we received table service table 'd hote. Waiters were all excellently trained, some hotels and restaurants in UK could do with sending their staff there for just basic training. Presentation of the meals were all to an excellent standard.Linen napkins and table cloths at lunch and dinner changed after each session. The entertainment provided at dinner was pretty good local talent. Our observations that could lower the standard from 5 star would be if the hotel was fully booked they may repeat may struggle to provide all guests with sunbeds. The in house entertainment manager might cause himself a mischeif if he continues to try and reach some high notes in sme of the songs he tries to sing
All-in-all we would return if the standard does not decline

Room Tip: Beach rooms or sea view rooms may suffer fromnoise at night from the bar, although it closes at midn...

OK the Silver Beach hotel is not comparable with one of the luxury hotels in Mauritius, but the Cost-Benefit ratio is absolute top! The accommodation is relatively small but quiet. Behind the entrance and reception hall there is a nice, well maintained garden part, followed by the main building that separates the garden part and the beach: In the garden part there are two-level bungalows with 3 to 4 independent apartments, all have a terrace or balcony looking to the garden. The main building is multilevel and all these rooms have sea-view. The indoor furnishing is simple but you have all you need (Bed, shower, fridge, safe, aircon). The Hotel is All-Inclusive, this includes: breakfast, lunch, snacks, tea-time, dinner and most of the drinks (imported alcohol is excluded, for example bourbon or french wine). The beach is relatively small, but there is also a lawn part in front of the hotel to get your sun-bath. The only annoying thing were the hotel-guests that reserved their parasol and deck-chair in the early (!) morning, then they disappeared and showed up around noon... The food was quite good: lunch and on mondays, wednesdays and on friday for dinner there was a buffet, the other nights there is a menu with two main courses to choose of, a vegetarian menu is available on request. The staff was very friendly, attentive and professional.
But one of the best things of the hotel was the vicinity to a small but living coral reef - only a 3 minutes swim away, with a variety of colorful fish. (normally you have a hotel provided boat once or twice a day or you have to charter a boat, that brings you to a place to snorkel).

Room Tip: The sea-view is beautiful, but think about, that there is a very short period to enjoy the view - su...

My husband and I have just returned from a 15 night stay in this wonderful hotel. We had a ground floor sea view room with the pool just a few yards from the room it was an excellent room for me as I am disabled. The rooms where kept very clean and the cleaner came in every day, he made it even more special by making swan figures out of the towels and arranging them on the bed. The towels where changed every day. Not having to worry about beach towels was great as the hotel supplied clean ones every day at the beach hut.

The staff where so friendly and they seemed to appear every time I was trying to get up the stairs and helped me. The only downside was there was no lift or ramp down to our room so instead of using my wheelchair I had to walk down the steps. I would like to suggest that ramps are put in and I feel that more disabled people would be drawn to this 3* hotel that offers 5* service and meals.

I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Dan, Zee, Malini, Kavi, Rishi (Mr Bond who was ever so witty) Ashley, Sindeep, Salim, Ravi, Kesh & the cheeky Moon (who stole my heart so much so I wanted to bring him home with me and treat him like another son). They all made our stay even more special.

Out of 16 days we only had 2 days of bad weather but that was due to a cyclone over India. It didn't stop us enjoying the most beautiful island I have ever been on. The trips available are well worth going on.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful, relaxing and worry free holiday in a beautiful setting.

My partner and I have recently returned from a two week holiday at the Silver Beach, our fourth stay at this lovely, unpretentious hotel. We first visited in October 2010 and loved it so much, that we have been back every October since! Along with comments from other reviewers, that in itself should say enough, but as I have never reviewed this hotel, I feel I should share and explain my enthusiasm for it, especially in this year after the hotel has undergone renovations.

Previously, other reviewers have commented on the rather tired decor of the place and how it would benefit from being updated and I have had to agree but I am pleased to report that the work undertaken earlier this year has made a tremendous difference, giving the hotel a bit of a much-needed 'facelift'. Much painting, decorating and tiling have taken place throughout the public areas and there are two new outdoor seating areas, one smoking, the other non-smoking, offering more flexibility to guests for relaxing outdoors.

What hasn't changed, however, is the excellent service from the staff, whom I cannot praise highly enough. As others have said, they go out of their way to ensure you have a perfect stay and not as a few have claimed, for tips, but because it is the Mauritian way. Everywhere you go, the Mauritian people are unfailingly helpful, friendly and welcoming. Also, food and drink are excellent and would grace a 5 star establishment and the all-inclusive package is brilliant value. This is a 3 star hotel because it lacks the facilities of grander hotels but if you want to pay about 3 or 4 times as much for a butler, toiletries, slippers and bathrobe, etc, then go ahead......

Again, others have advised about trips, etc, so I won't repeat all that, it's up to you what you want to do. If you like snorkelling, it is better in front of the adjacent hotel and even better further along again, from the beaches at Palmar, approx 15-20 mins stroll along the sand, 5 mins quicker along the road. Both are wonderful walks, the first for the sea views and the other for the flowers and gardens along the route. Go to the end of the park past the toilets to find the beach with the two bushes which has excellent snorkelling straight ahead, like swimming in an aquarium! Buyer beware, however, about parasailing as, fab though it is, you only get 3 minutes in the air for your 1500 rupees! Do go to Flacq on the public bus. It costs pennies and is great fun. For other, longer journeys, negotiate with taxi drivers yourself and always haggle with beach sellers and in the shops for souvenirs. You won't need to bargain at the market as prices as so cheap but you can always try. I hate haggling but the Mauritians expect it!

October is the transition month to the summer so is hotting up nicely, but not too much. This year, we enjoyed sun and clear blue skies every day with temperatures averaging 27/28 degrees. The East coast is windier than the West but to be honest, the sea breezes here are welcome.

Thank you to all the staff for another wonderful, memorable holiday. See you next year!

Room Tip: We like the sea views from the 4th floor.

I went to Silver Beach Hotel for our honeymoon for 1 weeks during mid of May 2013. It was the most wonderful , Memorable and relaxing holiday. The services are up to mark and the staff is very friendly, you ask something & it is there. The food was very good. They keep fixed meals some day & Buffet at some days. But at any given meal - Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner they specially prepare few dishes for Indian/Asian Tourists.

Staffs especially Kavi, Pritam & Head Ched Dan was very very much helpful & caring. The lady manager I forgot her name too was very much caring. Each & every dining staff will take care of you personally.

The cherry on the cake was musical presentation each evening specially from Jude & his team [His 3 generation performs together].......

Kudos to Silver Beach Team & Management

Room Tip: Choose sea facing room at ground floor......

Although rated a 3 star hotel, the service and food was definitely 5 star. All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. My husband & I have never had service as first class as this and the 4 course evening meals, served 4 time a week were 'masterchef' in appearance and taste. We had room 304,with a great sea view. On reflection we would have been just as happy with a garden view as the flora and fauna was amazing, and the birds so colourful. A bus trip to Flacq market is worth a visit, we bought some lovely spices in presentation packs very reasonably priced, including saffron and vanilla pods.
The hotel organizes trips by speed boat to the Ille de Cerf, a beautiful Island, opposite the hotel which is worth a trip. Snorkelling was amazing, right in front of the hotel, and equipment was included in the all inclusive package, as is the pedalo's, kayaking and windsurfing.
We hired a taxi for the day, once to the south and then the north at 3200 rupees a day. You get to visit waterfalls, temples, the Capital, gardens and much more. It was a great way to travel without hiring a car and we felt we saw much more. If you want a relaxing holiday with white beaches, clear turquoise waters and fantastic service and food, this is the one for you.

Room Tip: You pay a premium for sea view rooms, but garden view rooms look nicer.
