I have stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions and found it satisfactory however, on contemplating another return I would like to ask the manager what was the outcome of the robbery as reported in June 2011 with two elderly adults being assulted by two robbers ?
It is very important to us that we have a secure and safe inviornment for our holidays, please update the review on this issue.

Regards

Nice hotel, clean rooms, good service, good food, excellent entertainment program's in the evening.... Water is tooooo costly in Mauritius..... hotel is located just across the beach...... Overall a pleasant stay....

Room tip: Choose a room away from the artificial water over bridge in the hotel. Lots of noise been made by the Frogs there at night :)

This is a 3 star hotel, that is fantastic value, with great staff, who want to serve, and give great service.
The grounds of the hotel are very well presented, the hotel is in good repair, and the rooms are well appointed and very clean, The all inclusive is from 11 to 11 however if you want water before 11 ask for a bottle at breakfast, the staff just give you what you want, the staff cannot do enough for you, the management are always available and very approachable, and keep asking if everything is ok, if not they will resolve the problem, give them the chance.
The food is really good quality, breakfast has the egg chef and the best bacon we have ever had no fat at all, hams cheeses cereals, yoghurts friuts and toast also rices etc. lunches are good and the evening meals have a good selection, and each evening they also have an indian section, however if there is a night or day when there is nothing that you like (because they have to cook to suit everyones tastes, different nationalities, and vegetarians etc) just ask and they will cook other foods for you ie steak and chips, or chicken etc.
There are a couple of things for me that are not great, last orders are suppossed to be till 11, yet they will not serve after 10.50, and the beach is across a main road (not a major problem) but the beach is not great.
To summarise this is a great hotel, good value, clean , well appointed, good food, the staff are fantastic and want you to have a great holiday, if there is a problem tell them and they will sort it out, the general manager is constantly walking around talk to him, he wants to have your views.
We would definately recommend this hotel.

Room tip: we had room 118 looking over the beach and gardens, and close to the bars.

Just had 2 weeks all inclusive here with Mercury Direct. Extremely good value and service from the tour operator and the Casuarina a most attractive hotel complex serviced by staff more than willing to address the holidaymaker's every need. A most personable general manager, keen to interact with guests in order to ensure that their stay is an enjoyable one.
This is not, however, an ideal location for single travellers and as such I felt at times quite isolated as there is little else to do beyond the boundary of the hotel. A destination more suited to couples who prefer to chill out and enjoy the all inclusive facilities of the hotel as opposed to those wishing to experience more in the way of culture. On that basis I would most definitely recommend the Casuarina as a good choice.

One of the worst hotel I ever stay
They charge you $100 per week for wi-fi which is only in the lobby ( not in your room)
You can get still water only from 11 am
Food ( breakfast) very poor,
Stuff really unfriendly ,
There is many better hotels around so do not waste your money

We thank you for your comments and would like to clarify the following points:

In general, your All Inclusive Package (AI) is subject to a mutual agreement between the Hotel and the Tour Operator and being based on a defined and precided budget. The customer must be informed of the contents of the package which he bought.

The WIFI does not form part of your package All Inclusive Package and it is chargeable for all guests.
You have two options for using the WIFI service; either in the lobby or in the room, you just need to request it at the reception.
Moreover, all these informations have been clearly described (prices,time..) on a small board on the reception desk

In the context of your All Inclusive Package and based on the mutual agreeement with your Tour Operator, the consumptions of drinks starts from 11.00 am to 23:00 pm at our main bar Oasis.

 Please note that our staffs have not been unpleasant towards you. They were simply trying to explain the services included in your All Inclusive Package.

During your stay at the hotel, the breakfast served at Le Boucannier Restaurant included: Eggs ( cook as per your taste), pancakes, bacon, saussages, hot vegetables of the day, cereals, milk, fruit juices, cold cuts, pastries, fruits cuts, jams, yogurt, cheese, prunes, grated coconut and a selection of breads .
