Fantastic and amazing is the way i can descried the wonderful moment at Lux Le Morne. I very appreciate the view from my room. Sham at the Kitchen restaurant welcomed us with his team and even super Prisca at the Beach restaurant is really dynamic. The service and the food was excellent. We really appreciate the visit of the Chef Ravi who came to see us when we were not expecting. Despite his many works he have the time to greet the guest and it was wonderful. The Café Lux team was friendly All went well and it's really unforgettable. We thank every one for this wonderfull day .

My wife and I have just returned from 13 amazing nights at this fabulous resort which we chose for our honeymoon on the basis of so many great reviews. We were not disappointed in any way shape or form!

I cannot praise the staff enough. We have both travelled widely and to some lovely places but neither one of us have ever experienced service which was friendly, attentive, yet at the same time entirely unobtrusive. The staff could never do enough for us during our stay. Special mention must go to Jimmy who served us on the beach, Marnie - one of the managers and Teeluck. Our omission of other names is only because we were remiss in writing them down! There was not one member of staff who doesn't deserve such praise.

We upgraded from the superior room to a junior suite and it was beautiful with a fabulous ocean view right by the dive centre (as we are divers, this was a good thing!). Having spoken to others though, the superior rooms are beautiful as well. The ocean view suites are lovely as are the honeymoon suites but I can honestly say that our room was amazing. Only thing I would say is go for a room on the first floor rather than the ground floor as you get lovely views and a little bit more privacy.

We went for the all inclusive option and thank god we did! We worked out our lunch on day one which consisted of a couple of courses and a couple of beers came to over £60. We are also a couple that like a drink or two.... And if you do, it could work out very expensive indeed. Average cost for an alcoholic drink was about £10 and cheapest bottle of wine about £30. There are three restaurant options for dining: The Kitchen (buffet), Nipa (Thai) and The Beach (Italianish!). They are all included on the AI option. You can also have lovely club sandwiches, salads, burgers, sushi etc bout to you but he pool or the beach! Room Service menu is also included on the AI option, you just pay for the tray charge - about £8. It may seem expensive to go AI but it is amazing value for money if you intend having 3 meals a day, soft drinks, coffee, tea, cocktail etc etc!

We booked via Travelbag who gave us a very good deal, far exceeding anything Hayes and Jarvis or other 'reputable' travel agents could offer (over £2000 less).

We dived with easy divers on site and Emmanuel and the team were lovely. This is not the Maldives or the Red Sea though so don't expect it. That doesn't mean the diving isn't lovely though and we came across dolphins, lobsters, turtles and sleeping shark! Diving is very reasonably priced, about £35 per dive if you have all your own kit (which we did).

We hired our own car and did not use the rental car services provided at the hotel (Sixt and Europecar). This saved us a considerable amount of money and was very simple to do. I can recommend Maki Car Rental. Mauritians drive on the same side of the road as us, so there is no need to hire a driver. Just tick the satnav option and go off and explore yourself. Rochester Falls and the zip wire at Casala Park were just two of the highlights!

All in all this was the dream honeymoon we had both dreamed of and even though we were the 'only gays in the village' for the majority of the time, we were treated exactly how we would hope to be - I.e. as any other newly married couple on their honeymoon.

Ive eventually got round to writing this review as we actually went in May 2013. Our third time at Lux Le Morne, this time for our 2nd Anniversary, having married there in 2011 ( when it was le Pavillon). Its a fantastic place, in a beautiful setting, with the most wonderful staff. Lux, as a company are obsessed with "concepts" and gimmicks, but this place really doesnt need any of that stuff. The location, setting, food, atmosphere and awesome hospitality make this a venue you will want to come back to. The best thing about the staff is the fact that many are now familiar faces who will go to great effort to make you feel like a VIP. The following people really made a a huge difference to our holiday. Vicky Thatheah ( Part of the management team) has known us since our first visit. Incredibly helpful and courteous, he looked after us, ensuring that we had the very best of holidays. Thanks Vicky. Manie ( organised our wedding and has never forgotten us)..such a lovely lady.
Sabrina... Looked after us in the bar...
Natasha
Ruth...hilarious, so happy and friendly ..our friend...
Veer..looked after us on the beach
Balee
Kishaen...looked after us on the beach.
Brigitte
Nicholas...a big friendly bear of a man, courteous and attentive.

Alain...couldn't do enough for us
Vamil... Very attentive and helpful
Vik... An absolute star..
Annunto...couldnt do enough
Vashish.. Top cocktail mixer and entertaining barman...
Viky
There are so many more who contributed greatly but whose names i never got...

You leave the resort feeling like you have left so many friends behind. Going back next year...to be honest, once youve experienced this resort, its hard to go anywhere else.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Lux Le Morne in Mauritius. Now, I'm very well travelled and have been fortunate to stay in some of the best hotels around the world, however I can safely say that the Lux le Morne exceeded all expectations and made this a holiday of a lifetime. The setting was superb, the facilities were excellent and the choice of activity was extremely varied - with something for everyone. We holidayed during their winter therefore the hotel was perhaps only a third full but the weather was great, but the service was exceptional. On our day of departure, it felt like we were leaving old friends since the staff had made us feel so welcome and had got to know us well - as we had got to know them. Nothing was too much trouble. I celebrated my birthday (and a marriage proposal the same day) and the staff went out of their way to make me feel special. If we are looking for a guaranteed 5 star experience, we wouldn't hesitate to return to the Lux Le Morne. However my boyfriend and I got a lot of advice from Tripadvisor before we left and would like to provide additional insight/our own opinion for anyone considering going to this resort.

1. We would recommend that if you like to eat/drink - to seek out the "all inclusive" option which is something we did. We paid £40 per person per day for this option however we worked out that had we gone on the B&B option, we'd have been looking at a bill of £250 - £300 per day for what we ate/drank and we didn't go too crazy.

2. Although there was entertainment each night, if you are looking for a "buzzing" nightlife within the hotel, then this isn't the resort for you. During the winter months, the bar began to close around 11pm - 11.30pm and was really very quiet. This suited us, however it's not for everyone

3. Swimming with dolphins is a MUST - particularly as they are within their natural habitat and through Tripadvisor, we knew we wanted to go with Eric (an ex-Mauritian football player) who owns a boat called "Philo" that is moored outside the hotel. He was extremely knowledgeable and takes you to places to see the dolphins where he knows you'll be the first boat there and before anyone else arrives

4. If you want to see the island, ask reception to book a taxi who will stay with you for the entire day which allows you to set your own schedule/route. We only wanted to see Port Louis and one of the rum plantations so we paid 3,300 MR for a driver for 8 hours. Each driver will try and take to you to other places on the Island such as the clothing factories. This is because they get a commission for taking you there (their favourite saying is, there is no cost to look, just take a look, no pressure to buy), however if you do make a purchase, they get a cut on that too. Therefore if you are quite determined with where you want to go - you need to be very firm if they try and take you on a detour.

5. Haggle. The beach hawkers tried to see us a necklace for the equivalent of £80. I eventually bought it for £20 (more because I felt rude going down further) :)

6. Port Louis markets is not a great place for kids. The street vendors are extremely aggressive and at one point, refused to let my 6ft 2inch rugby playing boyfriend out of their shop until he bought a t-shirt. We didn't stay there too long

So there you have it. If you are looking for a holiday operator, I wholly recommend Susan Friell at Turquoise Holidays (susan.friell@turquoiseholidays.co.uk) who could not have been more helpful. They arranged everything which was faultless from start to finish including the all inclusive deal (which after speaking to other guests, we got the best to date).

If you are going anytime soon - enjoy and I'm green with envy.

Room Tip: We got the most basic room which was a "Superior Room" and it was excellent and had a beau...
