From arrival to departure, our stay at this beautiful romantic resort was exceptional. This was our second stay at this resort and previously we stayed when it was known as Legends. We can definitely say the recent refurbishment and change of branding has added a fresh lightness to the resort. From our previous stay our view of legends was “The Best Service Hotel” and “The best Spa Ever Experienced” – I can confidently tell you that 2 years later, this is still the case. The Spa treatment was phenomenal and made us want to return every day. I personally recommend the abalone restaurant for lunch or dinner - it will never disappoint! The focaccia is outstanding and I must add the pool Bar definitely serves up “The best burger ever had”. The small little experiences on offer made our stay really special. Mr Brice Linot certainly has a fine handle on this resort where he personally will get involved with the guests at the hotel giving you a warm welcome!

We have just returned from an extremely enjoyable holiday at the Lux Grand Gaube. The Staff from the Manager to the Maids were friendly, helpful and all round kind people, we thank you all for making our holiday very enjoyable. We celebrated our friends birthday and they have made it extremely memorable. We dined in the Secret garden, with flowers, coloured lights, music it all looked wonderfully exotic. It was very safe to walk around. The restaurants were of a very high standard, could have done with a least one more restaurant for a more variable choice but we found enough to eat. The wine choices were very good, the entertainment was of a good standard. Our rooms were clean and we couldn't fault the amount of towels and beach towels we were given. Our thanks also has to go to Diren the Restaurant Manager, Rebecca,Simla, Sandra the bar Manager, the young ladies who showed us to our tables in all three Restaurants and the Manager Brice who was always on hand to help. We also must thank the Beach boy, who helped make our beds comfortable and cleaned our sun glasses daily (what service).
Thank you all once again, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

Simply the best hotel - location stunning, staff brilliant, rooms fantastic, food - excellent. Dont hesitate just book this hotel - you'll have a blast. We only went for a week - it wasn't long enough!
Ala carte restaurants get booked up quickly so book ahead on your first morning. Both the Italian and fish restaurants are superb. The all inclusive is worth the money - although some drinks and food in the ala carte restaurants are extra so just watch out for these. The hotel also arranges a trip to teh local market in Goodlands which is free but worth a visit.

Water sports facilities are excellent and most are free - the tubing is is worth paying for - great fun.

There are beach hawkers that come around every day but a polite no thanks and they go away - they do not pester.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are worth the extra.

Fantastic hotel,exceeded our expectations.Staff were absolutely brilliant and always very friendly and helpful.We had no conserns about safetyand i was happy to wonder ariound the resoprt on my own.security staff were alwys around, but were never needed.
Food in all restaurants was to a very high standard, and The Beach restaurant was our favourite serving a mediterranean type cuisine.
we tried several water sports , most of which were included in our half board package, this included water skiing, pedalos, kayak.There was a small charge for Ringos, but they were great fun.There is also a small sea plane that takes you on a short flight around the coast line. This is well worth doing, for a very reasonabl charge.
Gym is small but well equipped and staff on hand to give you advise etc.Take advantage of the offers in the spa as the treatments are excellent.
The weather in September was absolutley gorgeous and we weren;t expecting it to be so good, as still classed as winter in mauritius.
We went on an island trip which was organised by a local guy called BIg John who sells his trips on the beach. This was an ecxcellent trip and other holiday makers had recommended Big John to us, so dont be afraid of booking this trip on the beach. it was cheaper than a similar trip organised by the holiday rep. but was excellent.
Overall, a superb hotel, great staff and excellent weather, what more could you want?

I am glad that you were able to enjoy many of the activities proposed at the resort. Some of our guests like to enjoy the zen atmosphere of the resort, while others like to discover and stay active throughout the day. Our wish is to please both! Your are probably the first guest commenting on the newly introduced sea plane, unique and safe way to discover the coast.
I thank you also for having acknowledge our team at the Gym. Christine, Bobo and Ashley are all passionate trainers who have an extensive knowledge in this area, believing in what they are doing.

Where do I start, what a hotel! Just spent two weeks in probably the best hotel we ever stayed in.
All the staff from the room cleaners, bar staff, hotel receptionists and all the restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and could not do enough for you.
The All A Cartel restaurants were wonderful, you can have lunch in the Italian, all freshly cooked to order and well worth waiting for. The bar and fish restaurant also do lunch which again is all freshly cooked and great. Evening meals in the main buffet, many of which were themed evenings, again food was great, sometimes a little cool for my taste, but in general of a very high standard.
Evening entertainment was in the main bar, consisting of live singers etc, I have to say it was very loud and there was no quiet bar because it was so early in the season, perhaps now another area has been opened up that is a little quieter.
The room we were in was a superior twin, air con, spacious, huge bed and sited on the first floor out by the boat house, beach 60 seconds away!
Sight seeing we booked through the hotel, we had a day on Cocos island, wow what an island (owned by Lux Hotels) what a great day with some people we met at our hotel, great food, drinks and the snorkeling were all first class.
Then we went on our day out with one of the hotels taxis, we did the south west tour plus some, the driver was very good and knowledgeable , we went all over the south at our own pace and the whole day only cost us £60 for the whole day!
Then for us the highlight, a visit to walk with the lions, again a great day, we again booked through the hotel because it was cheaper and the service much better than booking through Summertime
Was this hotel, holiday worth a 12 hour flight? Yes definitely, if you go here and have the same experience that we had it was worth every penny and flight time.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a sea view, however even the garden view is very good

We would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone who was looking for a honeymoon destination or an amazing laid back holiday, we can not priase the staff and the location enough.
We arrived after a stressful week, two days after our wedding and in no time at all were made to feel welcome and the stress melted away. The location is fanastic and a much better climate that the south of the island.
After a 15 hour trip we were greeted with a drink, given a guided tour of the resort and by the time we reached our rooms our cases were all ready and waiting for us.
We had room 1119, which was a great location. Housekeeping came in twice a day, mini bar was always refilled, fresh towels morning and evening and linen.
What sets this apart for us is the attendtion to detail that we have not seen in other resorts we have been to (Mexico, Maldives, Kenya). It was my birthday the third day we were there the evening before Sandron made a special coctail to celebrate and by the time I got to breakfast the following morning a number of staff had wished me happy birthday.My husband had arranged dinner for me that evening on the beach by the waters edge and once again I can't fault the personal service.
The choice of food was great with the choice of two resturants at lunchtime and three in the evening. Diren the buffet manager was extremely helpful and always had the Brighton and Hove results for my husband the morning after they played. The food at the buffet resturant was exceptional, always plenty of choice.
We venture to the beach resturant and once again the food great but what really made it was John-Phillipes attention to us, by the second night we ate there he remembered what we both had as an apperif as well as the wine we liked with our meal.
The hotel also had plenty of activities during the day both on and away from the beach, hunting for the secret bar (it's not that secret) and message in a bottle was great fun, although I do think reception took pity on my husband and just let him find a bottle as he spend many an hour searching with no joy.
The service on the beach is great and the service we got Kumar was the best, to the point where I would say that it was clear on the days when he wasn't working as service was much slower.

I am aware that I now sound like we have shares in the hotel but it really was a fantastic time and we are planning to head back there for our anniverary but we may have to save up a bit for that. I would urge anyone thinking of going to Mauritius to stay at the Lux Grand Gaube, you will not be disappointed.

We have just returned from another wonderful, relaxing and peaceful holiday at Lux* Grand Gaube, having stayed at the resort many times in the past because it meets all of our requirements every time. This well run resort is located in the north of the island in the small fishing village of Grand Gaube, a delightful and typical Mauritian village where many locals go about their daily lives. On arrival, we are always greeted with smiling faces everywhere, a welcome drink and towels are offered to refresh, and luggage delivered to your room before you are, and the effects of the long journey are soon forgotten.

The three main categories of room, Superior, De Luxe and Junior Suite, all offer an amazing ocean view, are kept spotlessly clean and serviced twice daily. As a minimum, there is a mini-bar in all rooms, together with tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer.

As we are of independent mind, we have always selected the half-board option (other options available) as we find the superb breakfast buffet, with choices available to suit everyone, is more than ample to keep us sustained until evening meals are served. There are 3 or 4 main restaurants, all offering superb and top quality food, waiter service in the A La Carte restaurants, with The Kitchen offering themed bufet meals throughout the week, often accompanied by entertainment appropriate to the theme. Despite the buffet option, the food in The Kitchen is of outstanding quality, superbly prepared and presented, again with choices for everyone, and is mouth-wateringly sumptuous.

There are two beaches, which are cleaned every morning, both offering ample sun loungers and shade if required, and a refreshment service operates on each. The boat house and its facilities operates from the more popular beach, with the smaller Banyan beach offering a more quiet and restful atmosphere. There is a swimming pool adjacant to each beach area.

There are plenty of activities/excursions taking place throughout the day for the more energetic, all of which are advertised in the hotel's daily 'paper'. Free interest access is available.

The vast tropical gardens are stunning, immaculately maintained, and a credit to the head gardener and his team, who are all encouraged to acknowledge guests and do their best to speak your language.

A regular and cheap bus service, as well as a taxi rank, operates from just outside the main gates which covers the northern area, including the capital, Port Louis, and the famous Pamplemousses Gardens.

All staff are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming, without being intrusive, and are always prepared to go the extra mile. Nothing seems too much trouble for these lovely people who go to enormous lengths to make everyone feel welcome, remembering guests' names whether it is their first visit or not. The resort is extremely well run due in no small measure to the extraordinarily efficent, but approachable, General Manager, Brice Lunot. Brice never waivers in his duties and, despite his busy work schedule, is often seen in the public areas taking a personal interest in his guests with regard to their comfort and well-being.

This is the best beach-based holiday we have ever experienced, and we have travelled widely, providing great service and quality without pretentiousness. We return to Lux* GG as the service received, quality of food, cleanliness, maintenance and genuine friendliness has never faltered over many years, a credit to the management team and staff. We cannot speak highly enough of this resort, and we hope to return.

Each of your visit is expected with impatience by all the team members, and your arrival at the hotel is always a great celebration occasion with team members coming from their place of work to greet you. Thank you for being such extraordinary guests.
As you have outlined it, people are the real gem of the resort with their great passion, and authentic will to deliver joy and happiness around them. No later than yesterday I was again thanking our head gardener Mario for taking out of his time to show you his new herb garden, and brings to your room, on the morning the lemon grass infusion he had prepared himself.
I would like to particularly thank Sandeep for always looking so well after your visit weeks before your arrival.
