We were expecting to spend a nice weekend at the hotel but we were very disappointed. Nice hotel/room but the service are terrible. what we enjoyed was the room & the pool even if it was under repair from time to time. Choice of food are very limited both breakfast & dinner and repeated menu. No real animation compare to other hotels in Mauritius and no water sports on Saturday, so we could not enjoy it as we had to checked out at 11 am (hotel policy) on Sunday.
Overall not value for money!!!

We had great time at this hotel as the management was attentive and accommodating. If you are with a group of people this is a good spot, it is very cozy and not far from Grand Baie.

Breakfast is disappointing as it is poorly presented and always the same.

There is also no open sea view but the color of the bay on a sunny day is gorgeously green. We were unlucky to have the wind every day of our stay, so do your research.

Sea view villa has excellent services. We really enjoyed our stay.
Nice rooms with pool in front and direct beach access.
Some local dogs in surrounding area need to be removed.
Room rate are quite competitive and services are of good quality.
Breakfast is average.

Ocean Villa was beautiful... from the decorated beds to the modern finish bathroom. The private beach is stunning. Oceans Villas offered FREE watersports - I recommend the Banana ride:) As well as snorkelling - it was an amazing experience.

We paid a rate of 160 euros/per night for 4 ppl (including breakfast & Supper). The entertainment at night was spectacular... Singing... Dancing.. it was paradise. As we began socialising with other guests we realised that we were charged a higher rate for a smaller room. The other family of 4 paid 120 euros/night for a 3 bedroom self-catering unit (2 story) which included breakfast . In addition to this we had spoken to the chef about out meal requirements - being vegetarian. They assured us they would cook to our specification but to our surprise the meals we requested were not catered for. For the days we spent there we mostly ate pasta dishes. Carbo-load!

I feel the hotel, location and friendly staff members is magnificent, however poor management can lead to an unsatisfied guest. There is a lovely little resturant not far from Ocean villas called Happy Rajah - they serve beautiful dishes. It was much cheaper than paying 40 euros for a supper we did not enjoy at ocean villas. I would recommend this hotel - however be sure to get your moneys worth.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with my boyfriend. We booked the basic room above reception and I have to say it was perfect.we were greeted as we arrived with iced tea and cold towels to cool down, we were then given a personal guided tour of the complex and down to the beach before being brought to our room. We didn't expect much from the room as we booked the basic room above recption and were getting it so cheap, but it was perfect we even had a small balcony and the maids made the room special with rose petals and towels made into figures;) the small private beach was gorgeous and offers free water sports 2 days a week. Unfortunately we were not here these days. The sun loungers were lovely quality and offered round bed loungers. The pool was gorgeous . Nice to cool down in. And when we were there we were the only ones at the pool, cocktails at the bar were lovely and staff really helpful. Breakfast in the mornings was lovely and plentiful, and chef makes up fresh crepes and omelettes in front of you. There is a bus stop outside the hotel that will bring you down to grande bay . Bus comes every 15 mins to 30 mins and costs very little. Taxis are plentiful in grande bay late at night if you wish to go out. However we were worried as the reception staff said that you have to book them and they don't operate late at night, however they are very plentiful outside the bars as they close if you wish to have a night out. I cannot fault this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back next time we visit.

Room Tip: We chose basic room above reception which for us was perfect. It is at the rear away from road . It...

We stayed here for 4 nights. We had a wonderful experience with Ocean villas right from the time we stepped of airport and the time we left for our return flight. Driver was waiting at the airport for us and upon arrival we were warmly welcomed at the reception with lemon tea. The reception area was tastefully decorated and appeared fresh and appealing.
The staff at reception were all nice and cheerful, would like to mention especially Kiran, who was the most helpful of the lot. The room was nice and cosy and we also had a small room for our kids. Breakfast was filling and nice, we had opted for dinner too, which was equally good, with live music soothing our body and soul.
The hotel has a nice and small private beach where you can relax and laze around. They also have free water sport activities but you need to register at the reception as certain days are assigned for specific activities.
I would surely recommend this hotel to fellow travellers

Ocean Villas is a comfortable with good features, but also detractions that leave one feeling ambivalent about the overall experience. The contemporary wing with two private pools, well designed and modern furniture and fittings, which was kept immaculately clean, as were the immediate surrounds, beach and spa is highly recommended (some fittings needed minor maintenance; ask for a sea facing room). The hotel lobby area is also modern and well laid out and a convenient departure point for excursions. In contrast, the older main area of the hotel would benefit from refurbishment. Major detractions include stray cats and dogs in the gazebo dining area (unhygienic to say the least) and excessive litter and rubble in the surrounding garden which gives a poor overall impression. The breakfast/dining area is badly organized, the breakfast poorly laid out and of limited variety, and includes bickering staff. Minor issues are oversized crockery and inconsistently available cutlery.
The hotel services include advice, recommendations and brokering of local services and excursions and are reviewed here as they are part of the package. Experiences of these were also uneven and are summarized as follows...
Shuttle service from and to airport: Prompt signposted arrival, polite and helpful driver and good general discussion about the island during the trip. Minor detractions were loose interior fittings and loud radio. Euro 96 price seemed a bit high, but it is a long distance.
Rental car: Delivered to hotel, vehicle new and in good working order, overall good service. We travelled round the island and enjoyed various sights. Roadside litter is regularly tossed from local vehicles and lines most main roads. The small remaining natural forests are a sharp contrast to the fields of sugar cane. The litter and overall poor ecological management of the island does make one wonder whether the dodo died in vain (although you can buy a very nice wooden dodo to take home with you).
Kayak and snorkel gear rental (Look Voyages mobile vehicle on Mont Choissy Beach was recommended at reception): Enjoyed a paddle across the bay and reasonable snorkelling with adequate equipment. Staff were however indifferent and unhelpful and the price was a rip off - MUR1200 for less than two hours (the same price as the day rate for the rental car and to be avoided!).
Gabriel island excursion and snorkelling: Gabriel is a beautiful island 16km off Grand Baie harbour and well worth visiting. We took the 'personalised tour' organised by Ocean Villas (MUR3200). The driver arrived late and then proceeded at high speed to the dock, dropping us off with vague directions. This was followed by a poor reception and hasty transfer to the catamaran. The initial briefing was fine but no attention was given to safety, availability of life jackets, etc. The mainsail had not been rigged, so the trip was by motor aided by the smaller sail and took longer than it should have, resulting in late arrival and huge crowds from earlier arriving vessels. The crew were however friendly and helpful. There was no snorkelling gear available on the boat and this had to be negotiated with the 'trip manager/co-ordinator' (a surly and disinterested individual who sowed disharmony among the crew, was impolite to clients, and offerred racist jokes as entertainment). We managed to secure masks and a snorkel, but the fins available were all in disrepair (availability of equipment was something we had requested at the outset when arranging with the hotel). Suggestions for a better experience here is to rather shop around from various providers in Grand Baie, try to find a trip with the earliest departure to have some time on the island away from crowds, shop around and compare prices, bring your own snorkelling gear, and ask about safety during the trip briefing. And count the sails before you get onboard unless you like engine fumes and long cruises...

Room Tip: Choose the contemporary wing with sea facing room.
