“Happy Rajah No 2”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Personally I prefer the Q Bornes Restaurant for the finesse of its menu and the atmosphere. Just had diner with family ( 8 persons) and had to remind the waitress to put on the air conditioning. My guests were sweating as the weather was really hot and humid (Dumile cyclone warning class 2).
The bryani lamb was tasty but the rice was slightly sticky. The Kerali Fish Curry seemed a bit so and so. However a very good note for the tandoori chicken- grilled to perfection. I ordered a normal coffee and was served an expresso.
Out of 10, I would allocate 7 points.

“For vegetarians”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

I visited this restaurant almost daily as this was the only restaurant serving Indian vegetarian food. Service is very prompt, clean restaurant, good ambiance but slightly more spicy. Outside food including water is not allowed. Waitress even warned me that if I dared sip water from my bottle, I would be fined.
Overall, a good place for Indian food.

“Unprofessional rudeness”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

I visited Mauritius in Aug.2012 with my family and went to the Happy Rajah for lunch at grand baie. But my son took a pizza from pizzahut and when I asked the staff, they said "u can use outer eating area as outside food is not allowed". Very fair and fine. But when the pizza was finished, we went to the restaurant and they said that the orders were closed. It was 2.05pm and the order closed by 2.00pm. They spoiled the whole mood and lunch. At least they should have considered that I asked them 20min. before and they shud have informed me the closing time. Very bad. A blot on Indian and mauritian hospitality. How can a restaurant deal in such a way with an Indian tourist when it claims to be an Indian restaurant.I will never recommend anyone to visit the place.

“One of the best restaurants in Mauritius”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Extremely consistent, good value and excellent service - what more do you need to say. Living in Mauritius, it is not always easy to find a level of consistency in restaurants but this place has it. Not a single bad meal in nearly three years living here. Decent prices, attentive service and a smart new expanded venue with the same quality management. To have to wait to get a table on a Sunday evening out of season in Grand Baie is more or less unheard of but that is what happens here, such is the reputation (deserved). The only thing stopping me giving it 5 stars is the price of wine - but that will stop me giving 5 to most Mauritian establishments, they start of expensive and just get worse.
