“Thank u Shandrani”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We just spent 1 fantastic week in Shandrani 13 -21 October 2013

The Beach : the beach in front of the pool was our favourite its a mut for a family holiday
the sea is shallow so no worries for children its clean , cool & great .

Food : we were serenty plus had dinner in all alacarte they were all fantastic our best was Teak ,Le sirus was great but try not to take the Mauritian night that was not so good we took another night in Le sirus with its normal menu & enjoyed. The italian zuccini rissotto was a die for . The calamar from Madagasgar
was not good they also servet his in main menu not the calamare we are used to .

Le Sirus & italian rest. Serves somedays lunch with different menus the lunch in italian was excellent Le sirus not bad.
The main restaurant Lunch was average could not fault also breakfast was up to standarts .

The daily Bar near pool serves a wide range of drinks which was great also a small van goes around 100 times daily serving
Cold drinks would reccomend “ Beachcomber “ had this i dont know how many times daily & there local Rum with sugar cane
as a Mojito not bad .

Watersports : All excellent daily tours to reef for snorkel , & waterglass boats , my husband did scuba diving which he says was ok
But not like Maldives.

Private tour :A MUST to Paradise island , waterfall & ship wreck would not suggest the shandrani trip but u can take a tour infront of the pool
& beach there are sellers they will find u sometimes u do try to ignore them i would highly recommend Princess boat “ Ben “ a private small boat
Dont take the catamaran as u can not enter the waterfall with this they re put u in a small boat which doesnt make sence if u want special drinks
for this trip take them with u from the bar or from yr room . U can also do BBQ on this trip a 4 hr hald day tour ( without bbq ) can be done for 150.euro for 2 or 4 or 6 persons more than 6 would need a catamaran .

Service : Vey friendly , very polite we were very happy
Rooms : Clean a little aged but nothing to complain about
Wifi : only in the rooms & buissness center

Entertainment : NOTHİNG available a Dj puts some music on near the bar a few kids dance and 1 singer did perform but nothing special

Spa : Beautifull building pool etc BUT nothing near Thai or bali massage

Would i reccomend & come back defenatly YES the all inclusive is %100 worth every peny the service , food , ambiance , sports , envoirnment
Garden u name it they give it .

Just returned from 11 night honeymoon at the Shandrani resort in Mauritius. This place is amazing and delivered on every front.

Customer service: Fantastic and they look after every little detail.

Food: 4 a la carte restaurants are great. Italian / Thai / Fish / international. We dined at each one and found the choice plentiful and the food delicious.

Drinks: all inclusive drinks are exactly that, includes brand names. At one point i asked for a gin and tonic and the waiter apologised and said "i'm sorry sir we only have Bombay sapphire, is that ok?" Ha.

Rooms: we had a superior beachfront room which was great and opened out onto the stunning beach. Beach was unreal, free waterspouts including water skiing and snorkelling trips etc.

This place is amazing!

Stayed at the Shandrani in August for 10 nights. Weather at this time was comfortable and more like good English weather , very comfortable.

The hotel is ideally placed on Blue Bay , good safe beaches for children, drinks served on the beach. Even the very few beach traders were polite and if you said no they left you with a smile on their faces and wishing you well.

Food was a little rich for me but top quality. Tip - if you like it plain and simple just ask for the kids menu, they did not mind when I did - fish fingers in a 5 star restaurant ! The wine list was incredible , possibly due to the French links. No restrictions , even if you only wanted a couple of glasses they happily would open a bottle.

The bars were fully stocked, all with brand names for spirits. No short measures here, it's clearly there objective to make you happy, not skimp on measures.

Rooms and room service top notch.

Spa and free facilities again excellent with 9 hole course on the grounds, wind surfing and yatchs available, tennis, bikes, etc , so plenty to do.

Very close to the airport runway but it did not disturb and there are no very late or early flights to disturb you.

Not much around the hotel - hire a car (they drive on the left so it's easy) and go to the north for the day ( takes about 60 mins)

Highly recommended - but it's a long flight to get there.

Great hospitality; food and rooms.
the views and beach are awesome/breath taking.
the hotel is secluded - away from sound and the rooms are nicely spread out for privacy.
the spa was fully booked so could not use that - it may be an opportunity to upscale during peak times.

Our family just returned from a week's holiday at Shandrani. The hotel is beautifully situated, with really great views from all 3 beaches with great snorkelling etc.

There is excellent and abundant sea life visible as you wade into the water, so activities like glass bottomed boat excursions etc were really just additional novelties. You could find a new beautiful area to explore each day, or simply stay pool side and enjoy the tranquil setting. We didn't find being in the flight path from the airport remotely negative, and had no plans for sight seeing outside the resort so the relative remoteness of the hotel otherwise was not an issue.

There are 5 restaurants in total, and aside from the buffet there 4 additional restaurants which are all excellent and quite different from each other, both in terms of cuisine and setting. 2 of these are for guests aged 12+ which is understandable. As it was a busy time getting bookings in these was a feat, but worth it as this is where we had our best meals of the holiday. This way we enjoyed lovely duck, Italian, Thai and sophisticated fish dishes in addition to the considerably less inspired buffet fare. The service at the main bar was particularly attentive and 5 star. It was tempting to have the free champagne and cocktails all the time! However compared to our visit to Le Victoria last year we found the buffet offerings at Shandrani nowhere near as appealing.

Our children (aged 7 and 9) loved the 2 beautiful pools and hardly did the Kids Club activities on offer. The kids club facilitiy and attendants were very pleasant though, and the kids also loved trying out the golf and tennis facilities at the sports centre. Despite being there during SA school holidays there were not that many children around for them to play with as at Le Victoria the year previously (possibly a function of the 5 star premium).

As part of the all inclusive deal we had spa treatments in a great environment, only slightly let down by tiny errors/oversights. We only saw a bit of evening entertainment, which wasn't particularly inspiring but we were not there for that. The beauty of the setting and day time sea / beach and poolside activities were wonderfully relaxing.

We only had 2 minor negatives. As we arrived late in the evening we were instructed to go straight to our room where we could expect a welcoming tray of snacks. This took over an hour to arrive despite 2 calls and was comprised mostly of pretty but stale sandwiches. The other family who arrived at the same time ignored the instruction and went straight to the buffet wfhich was still operational, so had a decent meal. The other negative was the service (or lack thereof) at the Sirius bar one day where orders were simply not acted upon or executed properly. We were impressed however that we were asked for feedback at the hotel so assume this will be addressed.

It is probably as good as a family five star hotel can get. Certainly the setting, and restaurants offerings are exceptional. Overall it was a fabulous experience, and we would love to return one day.

Room Tip: Our deluxe room was modern, crisp and clean but the layout was not very practical for a family of 4...
