“Fantastic Easter Break”

Just back from 2 weeks at the Maratim over Easter with the family (wife and 2 boys aged 11 and 14)

Beautiful location and a great relaxed atmosphere made for a fantastic trip.

The hotel was excellent from start to finish and the staff couldn't have made us more welcome. Special mention to Johanna of guest services who welcomed us on arrival, came to see us off on departure and checked in regularly over the 2 weeks to ensure all was going to plan. Also to Kavita of guest services who worked with my kids to organise a special birthday meal on the beach for my wife's birthday which fell in the first week. (the cake in the room was a nice touch too!)

Hotel was big enough to have good facilities without the impersonal feel of some bigger complexes, we met some lovely guests and our kids made friends easily

Having water-skiing as part of the all inclusive was a bonus and my eldest learnt to ski in a couple of sessions.

The main restaurant looks out over the ocean which is great plus the Quarter Deck bar is also right on the sea and is a great place to watch the sun go down with a cocktail.

Took 2 trips with Mauri Tours to explore the island (1) a catamaran cruise on the East coast - cruise, BBQ on board, snorkeling and Isle Aux Cerfs with bonus sighting of dolphins (2) driver to explore the sights in the South

Overall a good hotel, but a few disappointments. Firstly the all inclusive package is not really all inclusive. There is a constant offer for better food, space in the beach for extra payment. For the past 2 weeks, the hotel decided to offer VIP services in the beach. It's included to suite users or by extra payment of 20 euro/day. It does not make users of VIP space feel special as much as makes guests feel less important. Secondly there is an abundance of rats wondering around, and we were therefore not able to open the doors from room to garden. Friends had to be moved to second floor as rats invaded their room. Lastly sadly my husband and son suffered with 2 major spells of gastroenteritis which could be attributed to food. On the bright side the hotel offers beautiful setting and some of the water sports are free, which was wonderful. Mauritius is beautiful.

Room Tip: Second floor away from the ground.

We are disappointed to read that you did not enjoy our Upscale All Inclusive option which is one of the most complete of the destination.

Regarding our new VIP package, this has been created to provide additional services and experiences to the guests having booked a suite or the villa and is available also for all other guests at an extra cost.

The hotel is located on a beautiful natural tropical garden of 25 hectares, rest assured that all measures are in place with strict pest control policies to avoid this situation. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

We have just returned from a 12 night stay. If you are thinking about this hotel stop and just book.
For our stay we chose an all inclusive package including a suite. You will not be disappointed with the food and restaurant choices and the drinks are of a very high quality. Our suite was outstanding with the room being FULLY serviced every day.
The Suite package gave us access to the VIP beach run by Dave and Jay. You will not get a better service. An unsung hero is Seewooputh the gardener who looked after the gardens and private beach. He maintains them spotlessly
From the minute you arrive until departure the attention to detail from the Guest Relation team is of the highest class but every member of the staff is committed to ensuring you have the best possible stay.
if you are a water sport fan, play golf,ride horses, enjoy spa treatments or love botanics you will be in your element, the hotel has something for all
We would recommend a South Island Tour, and a trip to the Horse Racing in Port Louis. Fantastic
A truly outstanding holiday and hotel. THANK YOU

Just returned from Maritim Hotel for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and Birthday and we had a fantastic holiday. We arrived at the hotel at 10.40am and only had to wait 40 mins for our room,so by the time we had sorted all the paperwork out we went straight to our room which was beautiful with a lovey sea view. The hotel was spotless, staff were so friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. The food and choice of restaurants was fab. We decided to pay for VIP beach service for the 7 days we were there as a treat. This was worth every penny, knowing that you have luxury beach beds and fantastic service, especially from Dave and Jay everyday. The Maritim is set in beautiful grounds and kept spotlessly clean and tidy. A special thank you to Seewooputh. On our actually Anniversary and Birthday we were literally treated like royalty, with treats and gestures everywhere we went. Staff and management wished us well wherever we were in the hotel. We had Spa treatments on our anniversary at the Flower Spa, which again was lovely The only one snag if I had to say anything was pool beds been reserved by people putting towels down early on and if we had wanted to get up leisurely and have a bed round the pool we wouldn't have been able to. Saying that there were plenty of beds on the beaches. We will certainly return to this bit of paradise...just hope its not to long. Bernadette and Chris Cox

This was our first trip to Mauritius and the Maritime was an excellent choice.
We arrived at the hotel at about 11.00am but were very pleased that our room was ready although there is very nice room with showers etc and lockers big enough for all your hand luggage available if you did have to wait and wanted to get changed, this is also the "departure lounge". The staff were all very friendly and the service was very excellent. We were on an all-inclusive package which included a good range of drinks (not just local varieties) and gave a reasonable allowance if eating in one of the a la carte restaurants which were not included. Breakfast in La Maree on the beach we felt was worth the extra and we must give a special mention to Ashwaree for looking after us.
The beach is quite large and beautiful but water shoes are recommended as the coral that makes up the beach has some big bits and is quite sharp underfoot!
The displayed menu for the buffet restaurant did not always match what was available which was slightly annoying as it was only a single A4 sheet displayed at the entrance and could easily have been re-typed to match the chef's production.
A visit to Pamplemousse Gardens was a little disappointing due to the lack of flowers, really it is more of an arboretum, however the garden guide was very entertaining and very informative.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable trip.

Having been to the Caribbean for the last 4 years we decided it was time for a change and are we glad we decided to pick Mauritius and more to the point the Maritm. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were treated like royalty. Having read previous reviews we packed our swimwear and sun lotion at the top of the case knowing we were arriving early and the rooms would not be ready. We were shown to the arrivals/departure room where you could shower, change and place your hand luggage into a locker, and then relax around the pool or beach. However, our rooms were ready once we had changed, which was a nice surprise. We travelled with my Brother and his wife had rooms 472 and 473 and wow what a view! In most hotels you would have to pay extra for a sea view or a room of this size/comfort. The mini bar was replenished every day and included bottled water, which can sometimes be an issue at other hotels. We never found it a problem to get a sunbed. The hotels policy of not letting you reserve them made it a refreshing change to the usual early morning scramble to get a one!! They were also very comfortable with a headrest that you could move to either end (depending on where the sun was). There are plenty of parasols too. The poolside service was excellent, providing water and endless soft drinks or beer (no alcohol allowed around the pool, which is weird, as you could have a cocktail at the swim up bar but not an issue to us, we just sat in the numerous chairs behind the sunbeds if we fancied a cocktail). We were AI and used the buffet most times but also used the La Maree beach restaurant for some lunches and evening meals (we booked evenings at La Maree, as previous guests had recommended). The food at either was excellent, the buffet offering great choice. Even the fussiest of eaters would find something. La Maree was exceptional, what a setting! Lunch was a 3 course option for AI quests and it was first class. Rajeesh the manager couldn't do enough for you! You also had a fixed menu choice for AI evening meals (usually the choice of 2/3 dishes) and yet again it was fantastic, we also tried the 'steak' night at La Maree and it was so good went back again, certainly worth the 695 Rupees per person extra.

The staff are a credit to the hotel, each and every member was attentive to your needs and nothing was too much trouble from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave. The beach was lovely and the sunsets, sat at the La Maree bar with a Pina Colada were superb! We also took advantage of the beach massages (buy 5 get a 6th one free) these were very relaxing and you could just turn up when you fancied one! Plenty of water sports for the more active, including water skiing and a glass bottom boat which you must try, to see the many different fish and corals.
Evening entertainment is relaxed and ideal for such a beautiful setting, starting with a piano player early evening (sometimes a duet with a sopranio sax player) then singers from around 9.30pm singing a wide range of music to suit all ages.
The hotel's adopted dogs were a bonus for us, especially as Spotty, used to join us on an evening walk along the beach! The giant tortoises are also a sight to be seen!
The horse riding is also fantastic, my partner rode 'Captain' on a sunset ride along the beach with Deepak who was so kind and encouraging, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for horses and riding. Another member of a fantastic team of staff!
All in all, this was one of our best holidays! We felt so welcomed and relaxed from the moment we arrived, we would thoroughly recommend it!

Stayed here last August for our silver wedding with our 13 year old daughter, had lovely time, lots of activities for my daughter especially the water activities and horse riding. Staff we're very friendly most helpful. Booked a couple of trips through the hotel to explore this beautiful island, we thought the prices for trips were quite reasonable and thoroughly enjoyed them.
The hotel is lovely we particularly loved the beach bar where the fire pit is and would sit there at the end of the day watching the sunset. Beach wasn't the best on the island mostly coral and there seemed to be quite a few flies? Food was very good but not outstanding, drinks were better plenty of cocktails to choose from. Rooms were spacious with lovely views, all in all we would return to Mauritius but maybe try a different hotel on the easy side, better beaches.

I am delighted to read that you have had ‘Lovely holiday’ among us and great time with your daughter on our beautiful Estate!

We have the regret to read that you did not found the beach up to your expectations. Our location and beach are generally praised by our guests as on the sheltered and sunniest North West coast of the island, along the pristine Turtle Bay, the first protected marine park of Mauritius. This one is recognised as one of the best spot for snorkelling on the island and amongst the best beach of the island.

Regarding the flies, please note that there were an unusual number of house flies that have affected the whole North West part of the island including our Balaclava region during your stay. Rest assured that all the necessary measures have been taken with the Ministry of Environment together with local authorities and surrounding hotels to resolve this issue. The comfort of our guests is our main priority and we apologies for the inconvenience caused.
