Amazing hotel with the friendliest of staff on Earth. The all-inclusive package is the best value for money option as the drinks menu is more than extensive and the restaurants included are phenomenal. We did not try the other restaurants where you can pay a small supplement to go as we found the two restaurants on the all-inclusive very good.
There are plenty of free activities (from archery, yoga, snorkelling, sailing, canoeing…), provided by the hotel and their scuba diving centre is really good
The rooms are spacious, very well equipped and looked after.

The Spa is just awesome, with a wide range of treatments at very decent prices (the after-sun hair treatment is a must!!)

The hotel has extensive gardens, ruins and nature walks so if you don’t feel like getting out of the hotel boundaries, you will not feel claustrophobic!

We were told that the hotel gets really busy on December and again in July/August therefore I would recommend, if you can, to go at the end of October /November.
Truly worth spending more than a week (we were only there 7 nights but we will go back again a bit longer- and with our daughter)

Having researched into many hotels in Mauritius and having a large wedding party of 50 people, the Maritim Hotel seemed the most accommodating for the wedding functions we wanted! Also I think great value for money in such an awesome but expensive island!

I was right! Each and every individual in our wedding party was happy with the hotel but I would especially like to comment on the Wedding Planning Team! Madhavi helped make my dream wedding a reality! She was so efficient, noting every element of each function down to the minute details. She was extremely helpful, approachable and understanding - all you need in a wedding coordinator! She will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your wedding package!

The kitchen staff were also amazing as my parents have a very strict diet and even still, the chefs managed to make them something different every day!

The only niggly issue was the treatment for bringing in such a large party as we did not feel like ee were treated as a honeymoon couple because suites were already booked etc but they did compensate us in other ways so they tried their best!

Did an awful lot of research as this was for our wedding and honeymoon - and for our price bracket the Maritim had the best reviews - we weren't disappointed.
After leaving UK at 10m on a Friday and arriving at the hotel Saturday 12.30 we were shattered - drive up to hotel was fab and the views and reception amazing. got a lovely welcome and weren't kept long while we were explained what was included in the AI and about meals etc. quickly taken up to our privilege room (1 up from standard room) - we were on top floor with balcony and fantastic views of the grounds and ocean. Room was huge with massive bed and fantastic bathroom which you could completely section off with freestanding bath and massive shower. plenty of storage space, mini bar and flat screen tv, tea/coffee. fresh fruit platter was in our room on arrival.

AI - thank god no horrid wrist band and was easy to understand.

Watersports/sports included in AI - apart from tennis you had to pay for tennis balls and golf you had to pay for few things, but we weren't bothered for those anyway. Had to pay extra for parasailing/tubing etc. and horse riding - but a lot cheaper than other places where I have done both activities. Also included is table tennis, giant chessboard, volleyball, classes such as yoga, pilates, mini golf, archery.

There is a small animal farm near the Chateau restaurant with the stables and giant aldbra tortoises - which I loved. the hotel also runs an adoption scheme for stray dogs and these roam freely throughout the grounds - which again I loved, but some may not.

Spa - bit hit and miss depending on which staff were on duty - I booked in for a massage and eye treatment and went early to use the facilities (sauna, whirlpool, hamman) and wasn't offered a towel or slippers or told about the lockers - had to go and ask for these and had to go back to ask what procedure was for my treatment. however, spa is stunning and treatment was fabulous.

Pool - only 1 pool but separated into 2 by a bridge - pool is not deep enough and the swim up pool bar may as well not be there as it is not a proper pool bar and wasn't staffed. also have pool staff checking the beach loungers in that if you are away for more than 1 hour then a sticker is placed on your lounger and after that your items will be removed - which was a really good idea. would be great idea to have separate pool for children. we were surprised at the amount of children staying at the hotel esp. as majority of reviews were by couples - not a place to take children as apart from the animal farm and some sports activities there is nothing for them to do and esp. at night time. if you go further along the beach to swim in the sea loads of beach loungers - but you will get bothered by hawkers (who do go away as soon as you say no though0

Grounds are absolutely fabulous and well worth a good few walks around and include the balaclava ruins.

Place was spotlessly clean and was so well maintained - would always see members of staff cleaning/carrying out maintenance work.

Restaurants - buffet at Belle Vue - food was very bland - but this was due to having to cater to everyone's tastes and gets very monotonous after 2 weeks. We booked in for the chateau mon desir, kaz kreole, banyan, las filaos and la maree. told you had to book well in advance as restuarnts get very busy - this was true of la maree, but not the others. we weren't told about the gourmet passport which saves a lot of money until 6 days in, but this was rectified.
la maree - beach restaurant - ate there twice - definitely the best
kaz kreole - you share with 8 others around a big table and we were really looking forward to some a la carte indian food which wasn't bland - however it was just the buffet food!
la banyan - Asian - was lovely
las filaos - was supposed to be a german beer garden and we went to the "spare rib" night - nothing like a german beer garden and food was just average
chateau - this was my favourite (we did book for our 1 week anniversary- but had letter under door the night before to say we would have to change the date as it had now been exclusively booked)- gorgeous place and food was superb - I was vey much looking forward to my crepe suzette prepared in front of me which wasn't included in the AI and paid extra for this, however this did not happen, so we complained and we got 2 free glasses of champagne, it was removed from the bill and we were asked to go back the next night for it to be specially prepared for us

no need to do any excursions as enough to do at hotel - however - we explored most of the island which was fab. don't do an organised tour, you can have your own private taxi driver for not much more with pre-paid entrance to places with fast track entry and you can leave when you want and make up your own itinerary.- highlights were casela nature reserve (animal interactions esp.) and vanille crocodile park and the underwater sub sea scooters

entertainment - only 1 main bar - the quarterdeck bar (lovely) but a bar at la maree too which had a small beach bonfire. had live music on a lot of nights and a disco at the weekend. also a once weekly sega show and indian dancing - but need to change this as if you are there 2 weeks or more it is the same thing. definitely need something different on at night times.

wedding - was on the beach in the gazebo - but you can choose your spot - wedding flew over- I had bridal suite at spa (had picked out my hair do 2 days before-but they had lost the picturet-fortunately Katja was doing my hair and it was amazing!!)- thanks v much katja. only other things (which wasn't the hotels fault was the registrar got our names wrong and the ceremony had to be stopped and restarted as it was being recorded and a group of young lads who weren't staying at the hotel walked right past the gazebo shouting happy birthday in French!) got bottle of sparkling wine included in the wedding package but be warned you only get to have 2 glasses and then the bottle disappears! had lovely meal at 7.30pm on the beach away from everyone else with our own waiter at la maree. also had horse and carriage ride straight after the ceremony which was great.

shops on site too- but top tip we were told you don't need a travel adaptor - but there was only 1 English plug in the room and because of where it was positioned we couldn't charge our camera up and the on site shops don't sell these - but thankfully a spare was found in lost property. also be prepared for lots of flies!

I've probably missed loads out - but overall the hotel and staff are brilliant and the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous with the most fantastic views and sunsets. also we got upgraded to a prestige room for last 5 days of our holiday - so thanks to the maritim for a wonderful 2 weeks

special mention to sports kiosk guy who does the archery - unfortunately we can't remember his name!

We have just returned, after two weeks, from this hotel. This place is absolutely fantastic. All the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and unobtrusive, nothing was too much trouble. The grounds are beautiful, as was the beach and the gorgeous view across turtle bay. There was something to do everyday other than just relax by the pool or on the beach. We played golf, snorkelled, went on the glass bottom boat, kayaked, rode the hotel's gorgeous horses, played tennis, walked around the grounds. The food was fantastic, especially at the La Maree and the Chateau Mon Desir restaurants. They are definitely worth a visit and reasonably priced (especially as we were all inclusive and received a discount accordingly). We stayed in one of the privilege rooms and couldn't have been happier, it was very comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

We have just returned from a fabulous 2 week holiday. We were treated so well and the staff were always happy to help and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The staff are such an asset to this hotel and whilst we cannot thank them all by name those who offered standout service in particular were Yashine looking after us on the beach (my husband when waking from a doze in the sun found a beer being placed in his hand, perfect). Yashine seemed to know what we wanted and when we wanted it. The other staff providing standout service were Vishal, Vydia (sorry if the spelling is not quite right), Sachin and Zak the chef. Thank you to them all for making us feel special and thank you to all the other great staff too.

We loved all our meals but our favourite was brunch at the Chateau. We walked in and our first thought was what a spread and then we were offered an al a carte menu on top of this all for the same price. To top it all we arrived early so had a seat on the terrace. It was a special meal we will not forget.

Ladies one thing I wanted to know when packing for the holiday was what would the hairdryer be like as I had not always read good things. Well the one provided in the room was small but fairly powerful and I would liken to a good travel hairdryer. However it would have been better if it had had a nozzle to direct the air but it was adequate.

Just one area which we think could be improved was the beer garden. It is advertised as a German Beer Garden but served no German beer and apart from the time the trio was playing there was no atmosphere. The food and service were great. It just lacked something in atmosphere.

The hotel provided a range of entertainment and much better than that at a nearby hotel we stayed in previously where the entertainment was the same on most evenings and too loud to hear yourself think. Our favourites were the trio and we made sure we found out where they were playing.

Would we return to this hotel? Well of course. It is offers great service, choice, activities and value for money.

After reading all of the fabulous reviews we were really excited to be staying at the Maritim for a much needed vacation. Going through the gates and driving up to the entrance we both commented as to how great it looked and the greeting that we were given as we got out of the taxi was very welcoming which was nice especially after traveling for 24 hours. After booking in and being advised as to how the hotel/AI operated we were quickly shown to our room which was quite lovely , both of us desperately looking forward to a nice shower and a much needed cocktail. As we were the only couple to arrive at that time we expected our cases to be in our room almost immediately as there were numerous staff in reception but after a 15 min wait we had to go and retrieve them ourselves (not good).

Apart from the Belle Vue restaurant we were impressed with the number of restaurants you could go too and were advised to buy Gourmet Passes which allows you to upgrade your meal selection. We did this and we were not dissapointed, Apart from the German beer garden we used all of them and I have to say our favorite was the Chateau Mon Desir of which we went twice. Yes its pricey and yes you have to pay extra but if you like fine dining at its best then its a must, this has to be one of the best restaurants we have eaten in and we have eaten in a few around the world.
However, if there is one thing I will comment on and that is their booking system (or rather lack of it) for the restaurants. We were advised that you had to book at the main reception for the nights you wanted to go, which we did. On arrival at the La Maree we gave our names and room number to be informed that we were not on the list!, unfortunately we were treated as if it was our fault and that we had potentially got the wrong night! Wrong - we had a gourmet pass which was clearly written our booking for that night!. They subsequently found us a table and we went on to have a great meal but we felt as if we were still in the wrong.. Ok, mistakes happen, so when this same thing happened again the following night at Le Bayon, we were less than amused and the following day asked to speak to the manager as we felt this was unacceptable in a 5 star resort. Numerous apologies came our way and it didn't spoil either our meals or our holiday, but the hotel seriously need to think about installing a computerized booking system that stops this type of thing happening (especially as we found out this was happening quite frequently.

To summarize, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others, all of the staff are all extremely friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them, everyone is made to feel very welcome. There is something for everyone at this resort regardless of age.
We had a fabulous two weeks in the sun and were sorry to leave.
