“An Island Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

We have just returned from a two week holiday at the Maritim, although the main reason for travelling there was a wedding, which was held at Chateau Lourbonnais (originally the Govenor's House). The resort was recommended by Johnathan Gotts of Trailfinders London, and was an excellent recommendation. there are many reviews on this site, which relate to the excellent service and the excellent staff, and all of that is true. For me the size of the site was all important, it would take me almost an hour to walk the circumference of the resort before breakfast. This meant it never felt crowded, there is plenty of space and a golf course too. There seemed to be a wedding at least once a day, and the setting is beautiful.
We took the more expensive rooms, and went fully inclusive, more expensive, yes, but for me I don't like signing bits of paper. The restaurants are excellent, but we did spend a great deal of time eating in the beach restaurant. The manager there was Laxman Randeer, and he looked after our party extremely well, the special evening meals you can have here, need to be booked, and cost an addition amount even if you are fully inclusive, but they made the holiday for us. September was an excellent time to visit, not too hot in the day, and cooler in the evening and at night. A very enjoyable holiday in all respects, and the Maree, the beach restaurant, was excellent, the meals were first class, and deserve recognition. As far as value is concerned, as they say, life is too short to drink poor wine, the same applies to holidays, enjoy them while you can. I really did enjoy this one.

Room Tip: We went for the more expensive rooms, and all inclusive, this worked out fine, I think that all the...

went early April 13, friendly, totally efficient staff, very clean, nice spa, for such volumes of people being catered for the food was always of a good variety and high standard, we booked half board, but upgraded to all inclusive on Day 1 which was very good value.

Nice waiting room, for showers etc in case you arrive ahead of strict check in time. High number of decent watersports included in price including instruction for new to water skiing, parasailing etc.

The onsite small animal farm with horses, giant tortoises etc very good for children and avoids leaving the site if dont want to.

Really good 2 bar areas with entertainment, if required.

Excellent, well organized resort.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Maritim celebrating my wife's birthday. Like most people I always look at reviews before booking our holiday, take it from me this is just about as good as it can get. There are hundreds of staff, they are all so pleasant, polite and helpful. They cannot do enough for you. We chose the Maritim because the food reviews were better than some of the others, they were right, the food is excellent. You do need to book the none AI restaurants quite a bit in advance but that's because they are so good. You must go to the Lobster menu night at the La Maree.
With regards to the beach the sun loungers are very comfortable the views across and along the bay beautiful and the sea lovely and calm (warmish! but refreshing). We had Dave to look after us on the beach and he was an absolute star (Thanks Dave). Remember this is All Inclusive yet everything is brought to you on the beach and in the bars, no queuing at the bar.
I could go on and on about our experience, however, just go there and have the most wonderful holiday, you will never regret it

Room Tip: We were lucky to be upgraded to a Prestige room (number 435). Didn't here one complaint about an...

This is the place for you if you like resort hotels. You can water ski, snorkel, scuba, paddle and more. On dry land there's golf, tennis, croquet putting, archery. I'm sure I've forgotten a few. Nice beach and pool too.
Rooms are nice, big, clean and we'll provided. Food is pretty good and plentiful with a number of specialty restaurants. Staff are courteous and generally helpful.
I'm afraid the rest of Mauritius is pretty sad and shabby.

Stayed a week at the Maritim for honeymoon. The food was excellent loved the variety of different meals.Great service anytime of the day.Friendly staff always smiling and greeting. The hotel is clean and the rooms are always neat.Ran out of spoons few times however room service topped up no matter the hour of day.

Problem: The room phone did not work.Requested 3 times for it to be fixed and it never got fixed.

Room Tip: Closest to reception is the best

We have just returned from the Maritim after spending 10 days at the resort celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the staff go out of their way to make each guest feel individual and special. They made our anniversary day one to remember!

We certainly recommend the Maritim and hope to return ourselves in the future.

This is the best place we have been to....we went for our honeymoon for a week. The resort property is wide spread and with lots of activities and facilities. The staff and services are very helpful and courteous.

The room was beautiful with a view to ocean....but i regret to find the ground level accommodation.

All the restaurants were good....but don't miss out the beach restaurant La Maree.

The facilities throughout the property were awesome....

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are the best place to have a view out on the beach.... Try out the beach res...
