“Great place for a dream holiday”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the Maritim. The hotel is beautiful and quite possibly the nicest hotel we’ve ever been too. We stayed in a Privilege room, which has a huge bed, lovely spacious bathroom and a balcony. The rooms were very clean, and you can see that the cleaning staff takes pride in their work. There is free WIFI everywhere in the hotel- I did not have any issues with signal.
The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. The boathouse staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help. There are a lot of water sports to choose from. If you are on the all-inclusive package, most of these are included.
We did the sunset bicycle tour with Vic. This was loads of fun, and Vic takes you through the villages so you really get a taste of Mauritian life.
The spa is very well maintained. We enjoyed the hammam. The water temperature of the Jacuzzi was a bit too cold.
We mainly ate at the Belle Vue restaurant. There is a wide variety of food. Each night has a different theme to keep it interesting. The chicken burgers served at lunch time are delicious! The masala time is also tasty, but be sure to order it 15 minutes in advance. Service at Belle Vue is not great, and often we had to search for a waiter to assist us. This was shortly resolved after we raised the issue with Vimla (who was always willing to assist with a smile on her face). There is also entertainment every night after supper.
La Maree is great- the beach bonfire is lovely and the service there was always impeccable.
We really liked that the Maritim PAWS project- where stray cats and dogs have been adopted by the hotel and sterilized and vaccinated. They live at the Maritm and are identifiable by the Maritim collars.
The animal farm is lovely for kids, there is even a dog who lives at the farm that was raised by a goat! The beach is lovely, and it’s great to watch the marine life- you don’t even need to get wet.
In conclusion, the Maritim is a great hotel, and the perfect place to relax.

I would like to thank you for a lovely holiday!! From the moment we arrived I was awed by your good service levels and friendly staff. All the staff seemed motivated and were always helpful and going out of their way to make our stay unforgetable, from the porter to the gardener... I would like to commend a few staff members: Evans thank you for your smile and teaching me the art of archery ,I can see that you enjoy your work. Yashin you will go far in this industry, thank you for being there all the time on the beach and your excellent service. Yaffar thank you for your service as well. The entertainment offered is excellent .
I am also impressed with the equestrian center where the horse are happy and so well taken care of.

I will definitely return to this resort with my whole family. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Room Tip: If you can choose at least a priviledge room.

We had an absolutely fantastic honeymoon here in August.
I am a travel agent and it is extremely hard to choose your own holiday and after lots and lots of research, I chose to honeymoon at the Maritim. And my oh my, was this the best choice!

From the minute we walked into the hotel, we were treated like royalty... everywhere we went, we were spoken to using our new married name... our concierge service from Dev & Aurelle was great - he remembered our room number and never had to ask.

If you are honeymooning or its a birthday/wedding/anniversary - you are spoilt too!!

On arrival, we received a voucher for the fine dining restaurant, which is worth a visit even if you are paying for it!!! Cheapest bottle of wine was approx. £27 English pounds, which some of the reviews say its more - but we had a bottle of rose - so not as expensive as some people say.

The Asian a la carte food was great! This restaurant really didn't seem like it had taken off when we were there, but we ate in there for a supplement of approx. £10 each and it was worth it!!

We ate at La Maree which is the beach restaurant and some nights in the buffet - both food were great!!

Massive choice of cocktails and drinks!

We went outside the hotel a lot, we went to Casela Nature Park and did a Lion interaction, we went to Ile Aux Cerfs island where the most beautiful beach is - we did both these places in 1 day and booked our own taxi to go to both places, which cost us about £100 for all the transport, but was much cheaper than booking a trip - we just had to pay for our entrance to the park - approx. £12 each and the boat to ile aux cerfs approx. £10 each.

We also went to the horse racing at Port Louis - we would definitely recommend going!!!!!
It was free to go in to watch the racing, but to go on the other side it was £3 each!
This was much cheaper than booking with outside companies because they wanted over £100 each.

OVERALL - THE MARITIM IS AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING HOTEL, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT ALL INCLUSIVE, PLENTY OF STUNNING GROUNDS, GOLF COURSE WAS FAB FOR THE HUBBY!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT!!!

THANK YOU MARITIM!!!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite - worth every penny!!

I do not want to speak about the hotel, but only about this unique and fabulous experience about swimming with your horse in the Indian Ocean , jean Francois ( the owner of wall of thunder) shows you this awesome trip into the ocean , a must for horse lovers! This beautiful equestrian club belongs to the maritim, old and young race horses are retired here. Go for it . Without this experience Mauritius would be more "commun" I highly recommend

Spent 15 days in Mauritius,I was a guest of the Tourist department of Mauritius in 4 hotels, it is very difficult to separate one from the other they were simply delightful, the Maritim had a bit more flair , the swimming pools are acres in size, to have breakfast under a palm tree near the beach is an unforgettable experience, nothing was to hard for the staff always there for you, they would even go up a tree and get a coconut for you to enjoy its fresh milk, the rooms are amazing very clean, a huge bowl of exotic fruit is waiting on your arrival would, wonderful memories would go back any time loved the place and the people

Room Tip: ask for guided tours of the island, all rooms are good ask for one overlooking the swimming pool or...

From the moment we got to the lobby of the hotel, we felt that we would be well looked after during our stay at the Maritim Hotel. And we were not wrong, the staff were extremely helpful, courteous, friendly and willing to go the extra few miles just to make the stay that more enjoyable. The room was bright, spacious and had a balcony facing the sea. The bed was enormous and very comfortable, and as we were on an all-inclusive package, about 90% of the minibar was free, soft drinks, beer and water. The usual tea and coffee making facilities were also available. All water sports were free except for the paragliding, scuba diving and banana boats. Food was available for most of the day and night at the various restaurants and bars within the resort. There is a spa on site and the prices for the treatments were very reasonable, or else you can use the sauna and attend the various yoga and pilates classes which were also free. The gardens are well tended and have an abundance of various plants, trees and flowers. Apparently, the gardens has been voted "Best Garden of Mauritius 2012". Also on site are some old ruins of a rum factory, dating from the colonial times, an animal farm (with giant tortoises), horse riding stables and a fine dining restaurant.

Kudos to Teeshan and all his staff for making our stay special.

Pro
- free wifi in the rooms
- excellent gym facilities open 24 hrs, with 2 treadmills, and various other modern equipment
- best beach in the area (Intercontinental next door faces a rough sea with rocky beach)
- staff are very friendly, and adds that special touch to your holiday
- free mini bar except wine, grapetise and appletise. Minibar is stocked up once a day.
- 9 hole golf course
- onsite shop for gifts and souvenirs
- bicycle hire facilities
- kids club

Tips
Pamplemousses gardens is nearby and is worthwhile paying a visit
Port Louis market is great for bargains and souvenirs, (always haggle)
Factory shops are few and far between, just ask the staff and they will advise
It is easy driving around the island, so hire a car. The island can be covered in a day taking the coastal route. Also taxis are quite expensive ( round trip from hotel to Port Louis is equivalent to renting a car for 2-3 days), so be brave and get a map. But be back before the sun sets as quite a lot of roads do not have street lighting
Enjoy the other beaches, go to the north of the island for better beaches (Grand Bay, Pereybere, Mon Choisy)
Most of all have fun.

This was my first visit and holiday to Mauritius and I can tell you that I will stay at the Maritim everytime. The staff was amazing, from reception right through to the staff in the restaurants, the spa and the various activity centres. The buffet offered at the Belle Vue restaurant caters for every taste and culture. The surroundings including the gardens, the beach and the swimming pool were clean. We did horse riding on the beach and I must commend the resort for looking after the horses so well. They were in excellent condition. All other activities were easy to book and there was not a time that you had to wait until the next day to do an activity. Two staff members that work the beach service need mentioning. The one is Jafar and the other Yshin. They served us with a smile and were always willing to assist. This was one amazing holiday and we will definitely return. This is a holiday to save for each year.

Room Tip: Make sure that you are aware which room you book.
