It's 7th July 2013 and I'm presently writing this review from the Quarter Deck bar in the Maritim Hotel, having already stayed 7 nights with 7 more to go. What can I say that hasn't been said before? This is such a fabulous hotel! More than the beautiful location, more than the fantastic quality of the food, more than the superb rooms, what makes this hotel exceptional is the quality of service from the army of staff. From the gardeners to the waiters and waitresses, from the staff at reception to the bar staff, from the beach staff to the cleaners, everyone has a smile for you and nothing is ever too much trouble. It is abundantly clear that the staff know that their priority us to ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. The prestige rooms are thoughtfully designed, exceptionally roomy and supremely comfortable. The all inclusive package includes the vast majority of the hotel's sporting activities (archery was great fun!) and eating options (such a wide selection of foods; the standard dinner buffet is great). The Maritim Hotel in Mauritius is a class act!

This hotel is very Nice, beautiful location. It is most likely great for couple retreat and holiday, but for business it is not up to standard. The main parameter; internet is basically non-exisitng. During my 5 day stay, I had upload (=sending emails) speeds of 0.05 - 0.10 mbit, which is very low. Also no ironing possibility in the rooms.
Food in the restaurants is fine, but roomservice quality of the food is nothing but disappointing - don't do it! Morning buffet looked promosing, but rather disappointing in selection of quality and fruits.
All in all very clean, nice staff and good atmosphere, just not suited for business.

Stayed 9 nights at the Maritim Hotel from 14th June and cannot complain about anything other than the Friday night BBQ which was very basic ad not worth the extra you have to pay to attend.
We had a prestige room on the all inclusive option. Food in the buffet was good with lots of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner. One meet and greet staff member stood out from the rest - Sweety who was always smiling and greeted us warmly. We had breakfast a couple of times at the Bel Maree, lunched there most days and had two steak nights. Lunch there was very good and our praise goes mostly to Ishwaree who remembered us every day and was very attentive and helpful although the other staff there were also very good. We watched the sunset from there most evenings with cocktail in hand! We tried the Asian Restaurant one evening which was good but not well patronised which was a pity. The beach staff were wonderful with our waiter always ready with a drink for us as soon as we arrived. All staff were good and very customer focused which made such a difference, special mention also to the restroom ladies who do such a wonderful job.
To sum up wonderful hotel which made for a wonderful holiday with wonderful memories.

Room Tip: Prestige rooms are very nice and worth the extra.

We spent 10 days here last March, there is nothing I can do but praise this hotel. We were met with a welcome cocktail and a cool towel as we arrived and although our room wasn't ready when we arrived, we didn't have to wait long.
The room was nice and big as was the bed. The drink were plentiful, the food was excellent. The whole place was spotless. We also met up with some nice folk so that also helped make it a great holiday.

If we ever return here, we would probably use an airline with direct flights. We flew from Glasgow with Emirates and the journey via Dubai was endless.

Mauritius is far far away ...... bit so worth it in the end!

Room Tip: We had a room on the ground floor so we could walk straight out onto the grass and then a short stro...

Will keep this short as everything is mentioned. Have just returned after a faboulous two week stay
We were treated like king&queen everyday by the superb staff, our special members of staff were Dave our beach waiter a special man nothing was too much trouble and we had everything we asked for everyday i. Ishwalee serving us in la maree breakfast and lunch times , these two members of staff our long serving and a true asset to this hotel,also a new lad Vishnu also in la maree he was charming and funny . Our room beach front 105 was in a fantastic spot when booking prestige room.

Have just come back from staying at the Maritim for 11 days. Went on All Inclusive package with Virgin, who I must say were excellent. Emirates airways with stop over at Dubai - long journey! Entrance to hotel very spectacular. On arrival met with cold drink and towel. None of this checking in at desk - no you sit down and have several members of staff come over and welcome you - very civilised. Some people have criticised the how the AI option works - to be honest it is very straight forward and explained at the check in.
Had a Privilege room on first floor (same floor as reception) room 364 and only about 30 seconds down the corridor.. These rooms are perfectly sized, with free standing bath, separate shower room, and balcony overlooking the bay. Comfortable bed and efficient A/C. Mini bar has some AI stuff in it as well.
Ate in main Belle Vue restaurant, La Maree, Banyan and Chateau Mon Desir, Breakfast at main restaurant really good - fruit, cereal, croissants, or cooked breakfast; lunch variety of cooked foods - pan fried fish (excellent), chicken, steak etc etc. Dinner was themed every day, an the food is freshly cooked behind the counters. The Banyan is an extension off the main restaurant and has Asian food - truly excellent. As you get 750RP allowance for AI per person off the menu, it doesn't cost much more to eat there - we averaged £6 - £16 for 4 people on the three times we used it. La Maree again had the allowance so not too much more. On steak night it is £14 per head extra and the steaks are very good. You sit outside a few feet from the sea. Chateau Mon Desr is a lot more - even with £22 per head allowance we still spent over £100 for 4 with wine, but definitely worth it and a great experience.
The AI covers pretty much any drink you would want except top brand names (like Tia Maria, Malt whiskies, cognacs) but for normal blended whiskies, gin vodka brandy etc you can drink as much of this as you want - oh and rum - so many different flavours! Sitting in the open sided Quarter deck bar after dinner is just magical. The bar staff seem to love creating cocktails for you and soon get to know what you like drinking. And as the evening wears on the measures get larger and large so be warned! Evening entertainment involves live musicians and is very tasteful and in the background.
Great range of water and land based sports available, and when we went no problems about getting a sun lounger. And yes they do monitor if people leave their towels for too long, but no it is not like some officious warden as has been mentioned! Works well. Only downside is the pool is really cold - hardly anyone used it. Worked out best way was to go into sea first, and then back in pool. Beach is great, with a line of coral rocks just off the shore where you can watch puffer, angel and loads of other varieties of fish- and I would advise taking sea shoes as the sand is coarse. We also saw dolphins just off the beach a couple of times.
But the real thing that makes this is place so good are the staff. Every time they pass you they say hello and right from the word go, the customer service team knew our names and would ask how our day was, how any trips out were. And they all seemed to want to have fun as well - from and it's not just customer facing staff - all house keepers, cleaners and gardeners would smile and say hello. A great hotel, service out of this world, good food and great drinks - perfect.

Room Tip: Privilege rooms are perfect - not sure why you would need more space. Room 364 is on same floor as...

We stayed at the Maritim in early June on an all inclusive basis and cannot wait to return!
The hotel and grounds are beautiful and so well cared for.
Our room was spotless with a fantastic ocean view - great for watching sunsets from the balcony with a glass of wine.

But it's really the staff that make this hotel super special - from the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome and special. Everyone is so genuine and friendly and always smiling especially Yvans at the beach kiosk.

We ate mainly at the buffet restuarant Belle Vue and the food was simply divine - so flavoursome and well presented - I'm a fussy vegetarian but always managed to find a wide variety of tasty options - special thank you to Megdhut for looking after us so well at dinner.
We loved the Le Maree beach restaurant for after dinner drinks on the sand with a bonfire on the beach - really relaxing and a great atmosphere.
The quarter deck bar is fab also for drinks and the staff are super attentive especially Deena - we had lots of fun sampling the extensive AI drinks menu.
Even the drinks service during lazy days on the beach was above and beyond expectation - Deepak would remember our drinks every day without us ordering and we especially enjoyed the afternoon treats delivered to our sunbeds as well as the AI icecream option.

We chose the Maritim as it has its own stables and golf course on site - both of which were fantastic. Riding retired racehorses along the beach before breakfast was the highlight of the holiday for me.
The Maritim has lots of other activities on offer - the free water skiing is a nice touch as well as the free glass bottomed boat rides/ golf lessons /pilates etc
And a trip to the Spa and Beach massage hut is a must!

Massive thank you to everyone at the Maritim for making our holiday so memorable - we WILL be back - see you soon!
