This hotel and its personnel are superb. Nothing is too much trouble. Check in and checkout were quickly done with a warm towel and a refreshing drink. Because we arrived early in the morning our room was not ready, but they have a lounge with lockers, toilets, showers and heaps of towels. Also you were given a security key for the roomand locker and a pass for all your meals and drinks until you had your permanent one when your room was ready. The room was brilliant and large with all the amenities you could want. Fresh towels were provided around 8pm when your bed was turned down, a fresh bottle of water put next to your bed and lights turned on. The view from the balcony was spectacular. There are four restaurants to choose from and are excellent both with service and the food. The La Maree have special nights though you do have to book days in advance to get a table. We did not use the Chateau, but we gathered it was very expensive and the set menu not brilliant. There are 25hectares of grounds to wander through with ruins, 9 hole golf course, equestrain centre, giant tortoises, waterfalls and wonderful trees and foliage. If you don't want to walk far there is a mini shuttle service which will take you around or to a particular area and pick you up at a given time. Staff were constantly cleaning everywhere all the time including the beaches, pool area, and everywhere. The Quaterdeck bar is great with a huge menu of drinks. The pool bar staff were awesome and constantly fed and watered you all day. The Spa is fantastic and should be used. You feel in another world. The whole package was brilliant.

Room Tip: Try and upgrade from a Privilege to a Prestige room.

This place is out of this world on all levels from the service to the resort to the rooms to the food! We spent 2 weeks for our honeymoon at the Maritim and it was the best!
The check-in was superb after a long journey, very efficient, informative & friendly with the bonus of a cold towel and drink. Our room was not ready but the arrival and departure lounge was great (advice would be to pack some swimwear & shorts in your hand luggage to change into if arrive really early!).
Our room was fantastic. We had paid to upgrade our room & it was worth every penny. The room was huge with a fantastic bathroom and all the amenities you could ever want in a room.
Because it was our honeymoon we received a bottle of bubbly and fruit in our room along with 'just married' flip flops and petals on the bed. It made us feel so special.
The variety of restaurants is fantastic with something for everyone. The Buffet restaurant is good but can get very busy at peak times. But the Banyan (Chinese/Asian fusion) and the La Maree are absolutely excellent both in food and in service. In fact the service is exceptional. There are some additional charges in these restaurants for certain items but these are well worth it especially the fillet steak on the steak night in the La Maree it was out of this world!
I would however recommend that you book in advance for the La Maree as there are limited tables.
Our only disappointment restaurant wise was the dining at the Chateau Fine Dining. We received a honeymoon gift from the hotel for a meal for two at the restaurant so we thought we would try it. The décor and ambience was very posh and lovely but the food was so so disappointing. This however maybe because we were on a free set menu. Our other was the cost of the drinks there that were not included in our gift nor the all inclusive package. We chose one of the cheapest wines but this was £50 and even the still water cost us £7.
The resort overall is absolutely amazing with vast immaculate grounds, fantastic spa ever, beautiful beaches with comfy beds & drink service. Everywhere was so clean with staff working everywhere every minute of the day to keep all the areas immaculately clean. The resort is in the most amazing bay with blue seas and views out into nowhere. You can do as little or as much as you wish with plenty of activities to get involved in. For golfers there is a professional 9 hole golf course in resort & a mini version for the rest of us. The spa is out of this world and definitely worth a few pennies to get pampered.
And last but not least the service is absolutely fantastic from the beach service (Deepak is the best) to the restaurants and bars (all the bar staff in the Quarter Deck were the awesome!) and management.
As re trips we would definitely recommend Walking with the Lions!

Room Tip: Upgrade your room, book in advance to the La Maree restaurant & Walk with the Lions

My husband and I have just returned from our holiday to the Maritim. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel - the grounds, gardens, and the hotel itself are beaautifully kept. The staff are friendly, courteous and always helpful.

The food at La Maree beach restuarant is brilliant, and the Asian fusion restuarant takes some beating.

The only downside was the weather which was wetter than usual, but still warm. I needed to use a good insect repellant so if you are travfelling this time of year I suggest you take a supply with you.
The hotel shops are good for gifts etc. but very expensive for essentials, talc, sunscreen etc, so take plenty with you.

We flew with Air Mauritius and enjoyed an excellent flight

Room Tip: The rooms closest to the beach restuarant are the best for peace and quiet. All the rooms have grea...

Stayed at the Maritim in December 2012 and had an amazing time. The staff were extreamly friendly and helpful(espcially Bob at the pool bar).. Even on my birthday they put a birthday cake in the room. As a veggie the food options were great too!

This hotel is fairly small and therefore very personal...I cannot fault this hotel and would recommed it to everyone!

I will hopefully get back this year!

A superb hotel from start to finish, beautiful setting and excellent cuisine. Perhaps more seating round the bar on the beach would help as there is not enough shelter during the rainy season, but this would be our only criticism. Wonderful service from very friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommended.

for a special birthday we decided to push the boat out and go to somewhere special, after researching and emailing the hotels we decided to go to the Maritim as they had WIFI in all rooms, something I needed to keep in contact with my business. Family and friends also joined us for the trip and so 6 of us went.. The flight over using Emirates was long and not always comfortable, especially on the Dubai Mauritius section but as we are both over 6 foot this was to be expected. The staff & the service on the planes were fantastic. After the long flight we had private transfers to the hotel which was great, nicely AC'd as it was hot.. Going through Port Louis we were told is always a pain as there is always traffic jams so that added around 30 minutes to the transfer, however we have since found out that a new ring road should be open in July which means the transfer from the airport to the North of the island will be so much easier and quicker. On arrival at the hotel we were made really welcome and being very tired the staff quickly led us to seats and gave us a welcome drink, the checking in was dealt with quickly and we were lucky enough to get into our rooms within an hour of arriving. Room was fantastic with great outlook over the gardens and sea. The room had strong Wifi and once set up ran without a problem for the whole time we were there. Each room has a safe and so putting all valuables in there when going out and making sure the patio doors were locked meant we had no worries about our stuff being secure. The hotel offers free Golf(Take your own clubs, free on Emirates), Water Sports(Including Water Skiing) as part of the all inclusive package, and the drinks and food available was brilliant. The staff were very attentive and we got to know a few of them really well and because of that we felt we had even better service..

As with all holidays abroad the question of tipping and how much is always in your thoughts, but we found that tipping staff directly was not encouraged and rather than doing this saving your tips up until the end of your holiday and putting them in an envelope at reception with a note on the people you felt gave exceptional service meant that you did not feel uncomfortable when being delivered your drinks or food, and also meant all staff at the hotel, who we felt all deserved some recognition got the benefit of the tips. I saying this in the end we did also tip those we got to know really well separately.

The weather is very interesting in you do get rain (Quite regularly between Jan and May) but it comes in, it rains and is gone within minutes and the Sun is back before you notice it gone.

There are fantastic places to visit on the Island and I would suggest you hire a taxi for the whole day and plan the trip. Walking with Lions is a must, for those who feel having animals in captivity is cruel, there are always going to be situations where it is actually a benefit to the animal rather than cruel. The walks with the Lions are part of the daily exercise routine for the lions and you can see they love being out and running around free, if it doesn't upset your ethics then you have to do it. The swimming with Dolphins was again great and I was able to get within a couple of feet of them when snorkelling, but the whole set up of chasing the swimming dolphins just so you can then jump in front of them to see them swimming below or around you does feel wrong..

Gong back to the hotel, if you wanted anything or felt something wasn't right you just had to talk to a member of staff and it was sorted.

We went to the Chateau for the big birthday celebration night, and it was just as it said full silver service, very attentive staff and fantastic food, but be warned the supplement you get for all inclusive only puts a small dent in the bill, especially if you go for the top of the range food, and drinks which are inclusive in the hotel are not at the Chateau and things such as mineral water are very expensive and the wine Very, very expensive. But as this was a special celebration and a one off it did not spoil the evening..

We had never had a 5* holiday or all inclusive before and so cant compare to other holidays but all I can say is this passed expectations and we will definitely go back once we have saved the pennies to do so..

Room Tip: All Prestige Rooms have a Sea View, if you want to be close to everything ask for rooms nearer the r...

This hotel was great. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a birthday and anniversary whilst away and on both occasions, something special was delivered to our room.

The food is good, slightly repetitive, but not too much of a problem. Dining area was very pretty with lovely views. Went to the la Maree which was good, but dint feel the need to have to go from the main restaurant.

Felt there was not enough beds around the pool, but the beach beds, and beach attendants were very good, so after first day, didn't feel the need to look for pool beds.

Went on a day trip around the south of the island which was very good, and went to the port for a spot of shopping, which was nice.

Had a fab holiday, weather was very hot with some rain but really not a problem at all.
