Flew with Air Mauritius direct from Heathrow, apart from the limited leg room the flight was good arriving at both destinations on time. The transfer from the airport took around 1 hr 15 mins, but this is subject to the time you hit the traffic in Port Louis(Capital City).

On arrival at the hotel we were met by one of the Customer Service Team and escorted to a comfortable sitting area where we were given iced teas and a warm cloth to cleanse our hands and face. Once we had completed the “checking in” formalities we were given a temporary room card to use as we had arrived mid morning and the room was not available until the afternoon.

We had booked a Privilege room which was on the lower ground floor level with a view out into the bay. The room was very spacious, had walk in shower, separate toilet, his and hers wash basins and a stand alone bath. There were portable sliding partitions which would give you additional privacy if you chose to take a bath rather than a shower. There was amble wardrobe and drawers space available for your clothing etc.The room was cleaned daily and each evening a member of staff would provide clean towels and bottled water.

The complex had two affinity swimming pools which you could use with comfortable sun loungers and parasols.

The beaches were of golden sand although the sand was quite course in a lot of areas. Again there were amble comfortable wooden sun Loungers and Parasols for use.

Having been on All Inclusive packages elsewhere in the world found it unusual to have to pay supplements to eat in other restaurants at the resort. Generally the standard of food was good but sometimes felt it was limited in its choices.

There in a spa at the resort which we used on a regular basis with certain amenities available free of charge. There are various discounts offered to you as guests on the treatments that are available which make them affordable to holiday goers.

The hotel sits in tropical gardens and has a waterfall and historic ruins which are used for receptions and parties. It also has its own animal farm which houses ducks, goats, chickens and giant tortoises.

Finally a big thank you to all the staff and management at the resort who provided us with a “First Class” service during our vacation. We were taken aback by your warm and kindness that was on display each and everyday.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mauritius

We stayed here in Dec over Xmas for our honeymoon, following a few nights in Dubai.
This place (and the staff) is out of this world!!

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a nice glass of refreshing juice and a talk about the hotel.
While the talk seemed to go on forever as we were tired, it prevented us from asking the hotel staff lots of questions further down the line.

Aside from this, the staff couldn't do enough for us, we had gifts most days at our door, a free bottle of bubby, free meal at the famous Chateur Mon Desir (exc drinks) which is just stunning and a must-do althought its expensive, and beautiful weather....what more could we ask for.

The food was incredible ranging from fresh fish, sushi, curries, steaks and if you were AI you had access to most of the drinks and wines which we have never had before. Usually its hotels local rubbish but this was Pinotage and Shiraz wine...not cheap stuff !
Rooms were clean, pool area was spotless, great gym and also airport changing room so no need to keep your room on and pay to be honest.
The equestian centre is great if you horse ride but bring close toe shoes and the SPA....well that is just the best hotel spa ever!! Definately get your treatments in early.

We went with the intention to book up a few trips but in fact we were so tired we just led on the beach or by the pool and relaxed. The pool was busy with the children compared to the beach so we decided to go to the beach more for the type of holiday we wanted.

Overall, one of the most relaxing and best hotels we have ever stayed in with exceptional customer service. Romantic but also a great place for families.

Only one critism, we didnt read many reviews before we left as we were too busy so missed out on booking the beach restaurant a few nights. This gets booked up straight away so make sure you plan your evenings as soon as you arrive if you want to eat o the beach or in Mon Desir.
Also the entertainment is nothing to be excited about.
After about 9pm the bar is dead so if you are looking for atmosphere and nights of drinking/partying this is not the place for you.

Thanks to the Maritim and its team for making this a holiday to never forget.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 373, very quiet, close to everything.

We had our 30th weedding anniversary here on November 2012.
What a place. From everone conceierege, bar staff, restaurant staff, beach staff even the traders on the beach - all so very freindly and treated person as an individual. The frendliest set of staff I have ever met- nothing is to much bother.

Complex- is excellent . well planned for ease of reaching all amenities.

Rooms: clean- two towel a changes a day which is brilliant in the evening after a day at the beach.
Bar is well stocked
only downfall is shower is not a power shower - but hey.
get robe and slippers and toiletries- kettle as well.
room attendants also make shapes from towels on the bed and turn it down at night for you also.

Restaurants
Really good- the buffet main is excellent - great range of food- you must try home msde ice cream made in front of you!!
Other restaurants which you pay for are also great value and service.
There is also a new german style one by the beach hich you must try - more lunch time food and beer gareden inb the evening.

The Bar- well - what can I say - measures are great!!!!!!!!! Praise must go to:Vikash,Ajay,Bob,Ramdhany,Anushi, Kamal, Sioeety, Brindfi, Yashley, Arsaad and Mevin. They kept us well stocked in alcohol, had a brilliant knowledge of cocktails and "surpise cocktails" and games concerning drinks!!!! Well done boys.

You need to try also the flavoured rum. I had the banana rum to toast in the new year. TIP: Buy this from the bar before you go home by the Litre- far cheaper than duty free.

I must alkso say a special thanks to JF Ellandoo from the equestrian centre.
For wonderful rides and gallops on Flamin light and clay brook and the swim in the sea with them. If you can ride- take some trainers and Jeans- THESE ARE RACE HORSES. I rode almost every day.
Miss it terribly now
Golf leaves alot to be desired though.but that is because of the quality of grass- they do flood lit driving range.

Events: Try an book a romantic meral on the jetty - we did this on our anniversay- will never forget it.
worth every penny.

Trips: they do a really go deal with book a taxi for a day- north or south of te island- set price and you choose where you want to go with your driver.

A must is WALKING WITH LIONS- this is my main reason for going- awsome a reall must have experience- suggest you book it on line BEFORE you go to avoid disaapointment.
I also am a "godparent" to a baby goat- CJ part of the animal farm- he was was born on the day we arrived and I held him when he was 4hrs old. Please say hi to him for me and give him a cuddle as well.

Beach: is brill - although you do need to get up eartly to get the "preferred" beds on the beach. But there are plenty to go round as also by the pool area. The beds are very comfy to sunbath on as well_ No back ache.

Water sportd are good- weater sking is popular, para glinding and banana boat and sofa!!
Diving is a must and do take your own snorkle and mask- as there is a tweo hour windo on these although free.

Dave the beach attendendant is brill- kepps you well watered and comes round with cold face towels. Even the beach traders are good. Got to know them after a fewe days and they do leasve you alone if you dont want anything- no need to worry on that score.

The depature lounge is brill- if you have a late flight- lockers, showers, tv room and comfychairds in an air cond area if you have a flight when the sun is up outside and you dont want to over heat in going home gear.

What else can I say- we are def going back in a couple of years time- this should be SIX STARS
love it. If you go- enjoy - oh yes if you really want luxury- they have a hliport- so you book chopper from airport to hotel to arrive in style or arrange trips round the island. bit pricy though for me. Coach was fine!!!!

We stayed at the Maritim from 24th nov to 8th. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and very well maintained. The location is perfect for a peaceful holiday. We walked into all the hotels around and found the Maritim to be the nicest.
Our room was perfect and we got the location we had requested. We ate most meals at the Buffet and found it had a good variety of food on offer. La Maree was lovely for lunch, being right on the beach and not far to walk from our beach beds.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.
A big thank you to Dave and jay on the beach, we got service without even asking.
The concierge Vakash (apologies if spelling is wrong) is always smiling, knows you by name and helped us with all our queries. He takes the time to walk around the hotel and make sure he talks to guests. He is a big advantage to the hotel. The staff at the boathouse were also great and friendly.
We will not hesitate to return next year.

Room Tip: We stayed in room115, direct access to beach.

We have just returned from spending 2 weeks at the Maritim for our honeymoon, staying from the 8-22nd of December. While we were there the weather was hot, nearly 30 degrees every day. Sometimes there was a shower but it passed quite quickly and even when it was cloudy it was still hot. I cannot fault anything about this hotel. The setting is beautiful and the way that the hotel has been designed maximises the amazing views of the beach/sea from every part of the hotel. All rooms had a sea view. The first thing that you will notice is how friendly and hardworking the staff are. I have never seen so many staff in one hotel and every single one will great you when they see you and take the time to talk to you. They are a credit to the hotel. In particular I'd like to thank the neach service team, specifically Dave, Jaynarain and Swadesh as they were fantastic!!
Our room was not an upgraded room but it was great, I particularly loved the huge bath tub!
Cannot fault the food. We usually had breakfast and our evening meal in the buffet restaurant and always ate lunch at the beach restaurant. We didn't eat at the fine dining or asian restaurants. The food in the buffet restaurant was great and had lots to choose from. The currys were amazing and there was always a choice of meat, fish, salads, sushi, pasta etc. The beach bar had a nice lunch menu with many dishes being all inclusive. Our favourite thing about this restaurant had to be the setting. On a night we liked to have a drink down on the beach next to the bonfire.
We used the spa on a few occasions and it was heavenly!
There are lots of activities to keep you occupied. We mainly did snorkelling which wasn't the best that we've every done but the reef is huge and there are plenty of fish to see. It seemed to be better in the morning as in the afternoon the current was too strong and kicked up a lot of sand so visibility wasn't always great.
We didn't step foot in the pool as we were down on the beach everyday. There is a problem with towels on sunbeds. We were always up early anyway to managed to get one but many times I would see people put towels down then dissapear for 2-3hrs and then decided to come back and use their sunbeds which I think is disgraceful.
Overall the hotel was amazing and we had a fantastic honeymoon. Hopefully at some point we'll manage to make it back to the Maritim to return to paradise!

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view. We were quite close to reception which was good as it was close to everyt...

We stayed at the Maritim Hotel for two weeks at the beginning of December, and can honestly say that it was the most loveliest rest just before Xmas. We hired a car for the first week which we picked up at the Airport. As we came through customs the man was standing there holding up our name, so it was so quick, we went straight to our car done the normal checks and we were away. It was quite a simple trip to our Hotel. The roads are very good and driving was nice and calm. We spent the first week visiting the Island and as far as we were concerned we were not very happy with the North of the island, it isnt very pretty. Once we carried on around the map the scenary got much nicer. The Southwest of the Island is absolutly beautiful, in some ways it reminded us of the West country in England. Apart from the weather was much more warmer. If you get a chance try to visit the Hindu Temple once you get there you can not miss it, you will see the masive figure at the end of the road. Once you park your car and have taken photos follow the road down hill by foot and you will come to a large lake, which the Hindus worship around. All you can smell is incent sticks which are all different smells and they put flowers into the lake as well. It is very interesting. If you go you must take bananas with you because the monkeys come up to you to take them. Some of them sit like little dogs waiting for you to give them somthing to eat, but be careful they wont wait long before they jump up and just take it. We saw one man give a monkey a boiled sweet which he stuck in the side of his mouth and looked like he was enjoying it very much.

There are lots of beaches and what supprised us was the amount of picnic benches under the trees on the beaches. The local people spend a lot of their free time with their families on the beach which is lovely to see. There was no part of the Island where we felt uncomfortable visiting, everybody we met was very nice, we felt safe to leave our car and walk around anywhere.

We did two catermaran trips one to the Island of Gabriel and one to El eu cerf which is on the East of the Island. Both were fantastic, the beaches you land on are paradise but what ever you do make sure you have a sun hat, when we went the Gabriel Island we had to stand on the beach and wait for little boats to take you back to the catermaran and it was extremly hot standing there. At El eu cerf there is a little market affair as you go onto the beach, and I wish I had not bought from the Hotel sellers on the beach because I could have bought a lot more there, it was so much cheaper and they had an awful lot of very pretty things to choose from. If you are thinking of taking little bracelets back for children or adults for that matter try to get them from here. Also when you get onto the beach which is again stunning there is a channell of water which has a very strong current, there are two lengths of rope to grab onto if you get swept down, the water in this part is not very deep but obviously if you have children you want to keep a very close eye on them. if you decide you want to go across to the other side and you dont want to chance falling over it is just as easy to walk along by the rope, you can hold onto it and get across nicely.

And back to the holel. There is nothing we can say negative about it. food was lovely and the setting as I have already said beautiful. Each night my husband and I went for a sauna which was so relaxing and made you feel lovely ready for the evening. Each night on the beach by one of the restaurants they have a little fire and music, it was nice to just get a drink and sit by the fire and relax. The staff are very proffesional, and I must say all the young ones doing their trainning were fantastic and could not do enough for you. They work very hard and deserve a big thankyou.

From the moment you step out of your car you are met at the door with hot towels and a drink, and also during the day on the beach cold towels are given to you the wipe your face.......lovely! all this treatment carried on throughout our stay and as we got into our taxi to go back to the airport the staff took our cases opened the taxi door and waved us off. FANTASTIC PEOPLE FANTASTIC HOTEL. Before I end we must mention the gardners who do a fantastic job at keeping the grounds beautiful, they work all day. whilst walking along keep an eye out for a little lady who is a gardner. we called her the flower pot lady. whilst taking a photo one day we herd a little Ooo Ooo and when we looked she was peeping her head out of a flower bed, she was so funny and all the time very happy and smiley. She couldnt understand english but we still had a giggle with her. Also at the beach restarant there is a man called Munnish who was so nice, he had a friend working with him who both together were sort of in competision with each other who could give as much information as possible about places to see and so on. You could talk to them all day if they were allowed to sit with you, but then that wouldnt be fair on other holiday makers would it? I will enclose a photo of these two boys and our little flower pot lady. Look out for them.
