“Perfect Honeymoon Paradise”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

The Maritim Hotel was amazing, we cant thank them enough for making our honeymoon very special.

They make the effort from the moment you arrive - greeting you with cocktails and hot towels. We also were given some sparling wine, towels in the shape of swans and flower petals.

Great food - top tip though go to La Maree for Lunch, its included as part of the all inclusive. Fantastic food. We also booked to the Banyan restaurant a few nights (essentially covered by the 750 rupee PP allowance that you are given), really lovely good quality pan asain food.
We ate the Chatue mon desir one nigh, very fancy, felt special but smallish portions.

They catered very well for vegetarian food.

Beach and pool always clean, always managed to get a sun lounger.

We had booked through virgin and Michela the rep was great. We went on the catamaran trip (£88_ but worth every penny. Also on the tour of the south. Good advice is to hire a car+driver (through the hotel) to take you to grand bay and port louis. The hotel also packed us a packed lunch as we were all inclusive, and ended up having a lovely day out.

SPA fab too (very expensive, but worth it), we enjoyed quite a lot of the last minute deals
really enjoyed and would go back again.

Went to the maritim for our 50 th birthdays and planned this for over a year looked at lots of hotels in Mauritius and the reviews and grounds made us choose the maritim .
From the moment we arrived and pulled into the gates and drove up to the front we were pleased but nothing could prepare us for that first view as we walked into reception wow it is amazing and never ceased to amaze me the whole time we were there .
On arrival we were given towels and drinks as it was early we were give the arrival and departure lounge to use this is as great place and a we used it on departure . We had lunch and explored the grounds it's is beautiful . I had emailed the hotel prior to going as there were a couple of reviews saying they had things taken from the safe the manager Antje came to speak to us and assured us that this was not correct and the reviews had been left on even after they had sorted it. The rooms have electronic safes and they can tell who enters your room and when the safe has been opened there is no security issue at this hotel and I felt happy with all aspects of the security and leaving things in the safe and in our room . The room was just perfect the free standing bath tub nice to relax in with a glass of wine the bed was big and comfy and the free toiletries great every night there is a turn down service checking you have everything you need .
Now to the really good things the food is wonderful we ate at the belle vue for breakfast and evening meal at lunch we used la maree or we ordered wraps on our sunbeds we also did the steak night and the lobster night at la maree both wonderful nights and very romantic. We also had a gourmet pass at the chateau this was a fabulous night and one I will not forget they take you down on the golf buggy and the service and food is excellent . The drinks menu is extensive and one of the best we have come across in an all inclusive ,the system is easy to understand anything with an asterix is included and this covers a wide variety of food and drinks we only payed a small amount extra for our special meals .
The staff are the biggest asset to this hotel and they were all lovely friendly and helpful they went the extra mile for you and made you feel special. A special mention to Kamlesh Neelem And Vimla in the belle vue they always had a smile and our drinks ready it was nice to see them each day . Also Kavita and Vikash from the customer service team every day they would check on us to make sure we had all we needed this was a real bonus as they do care that the guests are happy .
The whole management team are on hand and we spoke to Antje several times during our 16 days there .
The spa was also good and you could use the sauna and steam room plunge pool and just relax whenever you wanted. We used it several times after a day on the beach it was a nice way to end the day.
We hired a car and driver for the day this was to take us to walk with the lions (this was something I would recommend as it was something you can only do at a few places in the world and a one off experience ) and then to chamarel seven colours of the earth then on to the Grand Basin Hindu temple he also took us around various parts of the south and was full of things to tell us we had a wonderful day with him. We also took a taxi to grand bay to buy my gifts for home and enjoyed our morning there .
So if you have booked this hotel lucky you if you are thinking about it think no more it is the best hotel we have ever Been to and gets the wow factor from us .
A very big thank you to all the staff at the maritim we had an amazing time x

Room Tip: We had a room on the top floor you get a great sea view it was over by the water sports and very qui...

We have just come back from a 2 week honeymoon in Mauritius and I am pleased to say that it was absolutely everything that we hoped for! The hotel is out of this world; the grounds are huge and very well maintained; there are so many staff there that anything you need will be tended to instantly, and they were all exceptionally friendly, always smiling and saying hello to you, you couldn’t help but feel special. It also never felt ‘put on’ – if that makes sense, it was really a lovely place to be in.
On arrival we were greeted with drinks and refreshing towels, check in was efficient and no hassle, and we were upgraded as soon as they realised we were on honeymoon (they did ask for marriage cert though so if you are honeymooners make sure you take it with you!) The room was beautiful, really good size with lovely bathroom, separate shower and toilet and fabulous views from the balcony. The housekeeping team were great, our room was always spotless and the bed made up every morning whilst we were out. The food was wonderful, we were all inclusive so the main buffet was included, which was huge with a wide choice of different cuisines, with hot stations cooking food in front of you and the place is so large that it never felt too busy. Staff are attentive and as ever, really friendly! There are also other restaurants in the hotel which you can eat at for a small supplement, we indulged in them all (after all, we were on our honeymoon) and can highly recommend the steak night on the beach and an evening at the Chateau for a more elegant evening of dining. Most water sports were included in the all inclusive package, which was amazing, and we also went on some excursions, which were great! I cannot recommend the walk with lions enough! An unbelievable day! The hotel has giant tortoises on site which are amazing, definitely go and say hello to them!! We also used the spa, which was beautiful and had a relaxing massage as we received a voucher with a discount which was great.
All in all this was the best holiday I’ve ever had and we did an awful lot of research, especially on Trip Advisor as to which hotel to pick and I feel absolutely sure we picked the best one to go to. Mauritius is a beautiful place and I only hope it wasn’t a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience and we can go again!
The management at Maritim should be very proud of their staff and their hotel; it was a superb holiday!!

Room Tip: We were in room 214 which had a nice first floor view from the balcony, but to be honest all rooms s...

This hotel is amazing! We stayed for 14 nights as part of our honeymoon and the entire package was worldclass! We arrived and recieved a refreshing juice and a cold flanel to freshen up and then we were told that our room had been upgraded. The room was beautiful and very spacious with views out to a small stream and opening up onto the beach lined with trees. The staff were amazing, they could not do enough for you! Specially a bar worker called Youdish who worked mainly at the beach bar and restaurant. He knew we were on honeymoon so he set up a beautiful table on the beach with rose petals and candles and even bought my new wife a present! So sweet!
The grounds are massive to the hotel and my wife fell in love with the giant tortoises that they have. Everywhere is so clean and staff were constantly gardening, sweeping, cleaning! If you had anything that you didnt like then the staff were always at hand to help.
We managed to eat in all the restaurants. The main buffet restaurant is the only one which is included in the all inclusive. But the others were reasonably priced and meant around a 10 pound suppliment per person to eat in them. The steak night on the beach is highly recomended!!
All in all a wonderful time and don't hessitate to book if you are considering anstay in Mauritus. I read trip advisor a lot before I decide to book anywhere and I would highly recommend this one!

The Maritim Hotel in Mauritius bills itself (and the customer) as 5* property. We (what is commonly described as "mature couple" are staying with an all-inclusive package for 10 days. So...let's examine, how the Maritim measures up against the billing:
It is located in a park-like environment that is very well kept and designed to make maximum use of the location. the grounds with old indigenous trees are well-kept and make maximum use of the location. Restaurants and bars are built beautifully to maximize views. Pool and beach are kept immaculate; the spa is modern and well-designed: 5*.
Rooms: The room is small for 5*. it has a partial sea-view; the bathroom is also rather small and for a shower you have to climb into the bathtub and you will flood the bathroom without fail. At 5*, a walk-in cubicle is expected....as is conditioner in the toiletries. Coffee is a Nescafe classic from the single foil pack. Elsewhere you would find a plunger and fresh coffee at this level....Aircon is working silently and effectively. Instead of a a reasonably sized flat-screen TV there is a small, dingy tube job....so the room gets a generous 3.5*.
Food: Good selection and fresh. Nice touch: Fresh fruit at breakfast is prepared continuously at the buffet. The selection covers a wide variety...and should do so as there are guests from Europe, middle and far east and subcontinent. dinner from the buffet is again maked by variety and freshness. But they can't string a decent coffee together...it tastes like it has been standing on the heater in one of those industrial filter coffee machines for hours. No relief from ordering a cappucino...foam is thin and the taste the same as the filter coffee. As for the wines, you get what is euphemistically described by wine writers as "easy summertime quaffing", inoffensive, bland wines that could come out of a box. If you look for upper middle class stuff (retail about ZAR 80, Euro 6-8 or GBP 5) you have too buy in and it gets very expensive fast. The compilation of the wine list has apparently been left to a juice drinker: Single varietals are listed as blends and vice versa. So, food and beverage gets another 4*.
Service: Very attentive, courteous and unobtrusive. Can't be faulted. 5*
So, beware what room you book (suppose the suites are nicer and better equipped) and preferably be a teetotaler that also isn't too much into coffee. The hotel gets a 4* in the overall rating and as such it is rather expensive for what's on offer. .

Room Tip: Go for the suites if you can.

Just returned from a fantastic holiday.
Room was excellent. Well maintained and very clean.
Food in the main buffet restaurant was varied and themed every night but the best food was in the beach restaurant La Mar'ee.
Check in had a personal touch, the staff were superb, this includes all the staff, check in, restaurant staff, cleaners gardeners and especially the beach and bar staff.
Everyone works so hard to make your holiday special.
Would definitely like to return to the Maritim.
Many thanks.
