“Beautiful property!”
Reviewed February 10, 2011

Remotely located on the Northern part of the island. We chose this property as it was close to most dive-sites (scuba). The hotel also has a dive instructor and take excursions.

We were pampered with goodies during our stay. Although, the star of our stay was a private jacuzzi on the top floor!! Other than the buffet breakfast & dinner we got to choose from their other restaurants for a fine dine experience. A complementary 30 min. massage at their spa was marvelous. Also, they gave us a voucher of $100 USD to shop from one of their boutique shops.

Really good value for money!

When you first enter the hotel is very beautiful the lobby is full of people with computers entertaining themselves by using the internet! (After I realised why)

The service from everyone was slow but then I figured thats how the whole island operates, it would take up to 15 mins for a drink to arrive. The food in the restraunts wasnt very nice. It could be good at noon but then dissapointing at dinner and vice versa! And I thought 99% of hotels never get breakfast wrong but this 1 most definetly did.

The room was probably the best thing about the hotel, it was nicely decorated the bathroom and shower was excellent the tv remote didnt work until the last day when we asked them to change it. The balconies view was beautiful.

Most worst of all 99% of the people who visited this hotel were Indian no disprespect but I expected a mixture of people and to be able to socialise and have a good time but they kept themselves to themsleves not even to mingle with each other. On my last night I learned the reason there were so many Indians was because they had come on an exclusive offer only available to people from India at half the price I had paid! So to add a wound to myself I had to pay double because I wasnt from India! Thats definetly discrimination where I come from!

Entertainment!! Where was it?!?! After 10pm the whole place shut down and it was terribly boring with no amusement or entertainment provided by this 5* hotel? It got to a stage I would loved to have come home early due to boredom! If you want to be somewhere where you do absolutely NOTHING then this is the place for you. But after the money i paid and the length of air flight. I for one will NEVER visit Mauritius again!

Dear Sir,

Please understand that there is and never has been a promotion to Indian guests at half price.

I would also like to clarify that the percentage of Indian guests at our resort are far below 50% and have never exceeded even 40%.

With kind regards,

Nico Hallier

We stayed at the Intercontinental over the new year period and found the hotel to be faultless, the rooms were immaculate, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and the food was as good as I have had in any restaurant , I work in the music business and have stayed at first class hotels all over world and can honestly say this place ranks amongst the best. The hotel sprawls along the white sandy beach giving you space and privacy while just a nod of your head or a raised arm and the attentive staff are by your side catering to your every need, you must try the blue cheese naan bread in the Indian restaurant :)

The hotel is all together a good place to spend a week vacation with kids. The 2 swimming pools and the laguna are just made for them.
The personnel is friendly (although a bit slow) and they try their best to make you feel comfortable. The place appears to be safe for kids (if one excludes the lion fish appearing every evening in the laguna ;-)

If you have a chance, I recommend to take the all-inclusive offer as you can eat and drink all day long without additional charges.

This is however not a luxury resort, therefore, if you are looking for luxury, special attention, then do not stay at this hotel.
This is also not a spa resort...

If you have food intolerance/allergy, then this is also not the perfect place for you. I have lactose intolerance.
For breakfast, I did not manage to get margarine, there is only butter available, croissant are with butter, most of the bread has milch in it, and they do not offer no lacto milch or soya milch, so forget to get a cup of coffee with milch

We had an all-inclusive package, which allows to choose from the set menu, which of course was almost never for me. Alternatively you can have the buffet in the main restaurant (where breakfast is served), but there you will hardly know the ingredients of the dishes. I got once a piece of butter which was sold to me as margarine..

Another not so great point: we stayed in a room far from the reception. Although this was great as it was quiter than the ones close to the main building, the cleaning service came always at around 5 pm which mostly coincided with the evening service, which was de fact skipped..

The first time I was at the Veda restaurant the cook offer to cook for me a special no lacto meal and ignored the set menu as not for me... I found it very nice and proactive! The food was delicious! Unfortunately this happened only on my first visit to the Veda restaurant.
During my third and last visit to the Veda, the main cook had a day off and my 6 year old daughter got chicken nuggets completely raw inside!!
She ate raw chicken!!!
The cook apologized afterwards, but this did not reduced the risk of salmonella!
Learning: always check what your kids eat, even if the previous days all went well!

One more warning: watch out if you take an offer form one of the hotel employee - we got a car with driver via one of the employees of the hotel (not the official channels) as it was 1/2 price compared to what the hotel offers. Yes we paid less, but the car did not have an air conditioned and, what is worse, the driver was a thief! He stole my iphone!

I left my iphone on the car seat. I realized it immediately, tried to reach the driver who was gone, called the hotel employee (who organized the car) within 5 min after the car left.. the phone was gone.. I never got it back - the driver was called Franc or Frank, caucasian, approx. 30 years old, of not many words, speaking mostly french/creole but capable of speaking english as well.. If you get a Frank, be careful!

This property was a disappointment compared to other IC properties worldwide. The service is uneven, some employees did not speak very good English and seemed unable to handle basic requests. We could not check in right away and did not like our original room. The distance from the lobby to room was also very far. The hotel is new and polished, but definitely lacked charm and character - there was not a good sense of open space except for the main lobby which was always full of japanese shutter bugs. The rooms (even the so-called deluxe ones) felt small and cramped due to their design. Even my ocean front room overlooked the port and did not really feel like a resort away from it all. The furnishings and art work are very bland. Amenities just okay. Buffet breakfast was included, but it was not a "high end"/elegant experience or feeling. The food was just okay. As a PC platinum member I was definitely not acknowledged or provided with better service. The prices are also extremely high, for example, the cost of a cup of tea in the lobby bar is outrageous. Also room service food was not up to par and expensive. Similarly the spa at the hotel was way overpriced in relation to the quality of the services. The gym looked nice, but we did not get to use it. Similarly the free business center was good. It was not a good relation between price and quality. We moved next door to the Grand Mauritian and had a marvelous holiday.

Rooms were nice and cosy.
Service/ personnel definitely rated as zero.
Food was repetitive and tasteless, except for pastries and desserts- delicious.
Nice spa, but all mix. so not much of privacy.
couldn't enjoy the sea, as it was not clean/ seaweeds everywhere.
overall was not to what we expected, & will never go back again for sure.
