“Attention to the hotel staff!!! They stole us money from the room!!”
Reviewed August 10, 2009

My housband and me are here in this hotel now. we came here for our honeymoon and we are having a terrible experience!
Someone of the hotel staff entered into our room and stole our 1400 Euro in cash which were hidden in a pocket INSIDE ONE OF OUR BAGGAGES.
AT the moment we are waiting for police reply, they are investigating on 3 people of the hotel staff.
WE HOPE TO GET BACK OUR MONEY BUT IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT.
NOTE THAT ALSO THE SEA IN THIS HOTEL IS NOT NICE, THE SANDY IS TERRIBLE AND ARTIFICIAL.
We will come back to Italy before.

Flight - We travelled with Air Mauritius. Not a great experience and woul not recommend them. Staff surly and planes uncomfortable.

Location - In isolated position without public transport from or near hotel. Taxis are your only option and they are not cheap - £60 per half day or about £80 per day.

Room - . Our room on the ground floor was clean and well presented. However, it was dark and noisy. We would reinforce comments by other reviewers regarding poor drainage in the shower room and horrible smells. We complained to the manager but he failed to resolved the problem and admitted that it was a design fault and common to all rooms.

Restaurant/Food - We were all inclusive and would recommend this option as everything here was astronomically expensive. Food was good but the main restaurant featured mostly curries (including breakfast). Very little in the way of traditional English or Continental breakfast. We would highly recommend the Asia Fusion a la carte restaurant. We discovered it towards the end of our 8-night stay and wished we'd eaten there every night - you can use your all-inclusive allowance here and pay a supplement.

Beach - OK but coral sand was coarse and sharp. Not in the league of Caribbean beaches.

Staff - Friendly and helpful but lack of training is a handicap.

Excursions - Forget the Waterfall, not worth the risk of travelling in dodgy boats and speed boats. Instead book a taxi for the day and see the botanical gardens and the coloured earth.

Summary - Sold to us as a five star hotel but is nowhere near this standard at this point in time, It lacks the relaxed vibrancy of Caribbean resorts and its isolation makes it unattractive.

I somehow was given a feeling at different places in the hotel as if Indians are the least welcome clients at the property. This was specially at the restaurant where even for tea / coffee in the morning breakfast, we had to ask the staff twice at times whereas to a European sitting nearby, the hotel staff themselves used to ask the guest twice for this.

Also During dinner on one of the days, a waiter even after listening to my wife just walked away without bothering for what she was calling him. Upon raising the issue, the restaurant manager only turned up after requesting thrice to meet him and the excuse we received was that the waiter had to rush to the toilet and thus could not attend us.

Very nice place and friendly staff. Just that the staff needs to be trained a little more. Specially in English.

My husband and I went on holiday a few weeks ago and expected a fantastic hotel complimented with great service. After we heard about the good stories from friend we taught that it would be a good break away. That is after all what you would have expected when you book a 5 star resort. We were happy with the facilities, the room, the beach, the bar but when it came to service this is where the resort fell short, and this is what you look forward to. Let me list the things that really disappointed us. For every night we had dinner we didn't have salt on our table, when it was replace the second one was empty. After the third time 20 minutes later your food was cold and then you just lost your appetite. This happened at breakfast and at dinner. 25 minutes to bring you coffee after dinner to enjoy with your desert. Eventually we left and didnot have coffee. We arranged a taxi the night before with the hotel reception as we had a very early tour the following morning but this didnot arrive and we had to arrange one ourselves the next morning. The morning reception staff did not understand our frustration with a taxi not being there or that we would have missed our tour. The cherry on the top was the night we left. We settled our bill and arranged for a breakfast pack as we were leaving the hotel at 5h30 the next morning. True as anything no one could assist and acted as if they didnot know anything about it. We stood there at reception the previous night and heard the clerk place the order with room service but it did arrive as we expected and we left without the pack. I am not saying this just to complain but my husband and i do a lot of travelling and choose to stay in 5 star accommodation because we expect a certain level of service and we were very disappointed with out stay there. We definitely will come back to Mauritius as it is a nice destination, not far from home but will not likely consider this resort again.

I had just came from my honeymoon and I am telling you .. This is a great place to spend your vacation in. The beach, The main pool, The warm pool .. every thing was just perfect!
The service was great in this hotel and the people serve you with a smile and they offer me a free massage and free honeymooners dinner which was delicious.
The location is far from the city which makes it a perfect place for relaxing and chilling out.
The room was good but I found for 2 times a harmless spider in the room and also the floor is slippery one and the edges of the bathtub was sharp.
Finally it was a great value for a great place.
