“Drive-In to the Fifties”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

If you're looking for haute cuisine go somewhere else, this place is all about nostalgia. Mac's Drive-In delivers a glimpse of how we used to dine along the blue roads of America fifty or sixty years ago. Your choice of seating includes the front seat of your '57 Chevy in the car-hop section behind the main pavilion where your order will be delivered on a window tray. I swear I spotted the Fonz pulling in back there. Just overlook the kitsch and flaking paint and you'll be treated to a unique dining experience at Mac's. I had the quarter-pound cheeseburger with all the trimmings (they bring the condiments to the table) and at four bucks it makes Ronald McDonald cry. The hot dogs are also worth every penny (not many) you will put down. Top it all off with a root beer float and count the money you saved. As you drive away with a full belly, you'll think you just emerged from a time warp!

“Good old fashioned drive-in”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

This place has the typical old fashoned drive in look, food, and feel. Food is good, fast, and cheap. Sure, most of the food is deep fried...but that is what a drive-in was meant to be. When you eat here it's like stepping back in time. It's a fun place to stop and very easy on the wallet.

“Funky, 50's style drive-in”
Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

It's like driving into a time warp. If you drive from the town of Waterloo you won't see the car hop section around the back.
Just the place for a quick lunch

“like going back to the 50s!”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

Mac's is a throwback to the 1950s! The food is GREAT if you are looking for a taste of the past, deep fried hotdogs being an example. Curb service, or sit up at the bar and enjoy the show.

You MUST experience a Root Beer Float at Mac's! They serve their Richardson's Root Beer in chilled mugs; adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream turns it into a Root Beer Float. They are Simply the BEST!

“Not worth your time to visit, a real disappointment”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

My buddy and I were driving the backroads from Syracuse and we decided to stop in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon at Mac's. What a disappointment is all I can say.

The menu is very simple (hot dogs, burgers, pizza, fries, etc.) I ordered a double-cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and mayo. I received a double cheeseburger, plain. If you want ketchup. mustard, relish, etc. they put a box of communal condiments on the table. Scoop whatever you want using a plastic spoon from the open bowls used by everyone ese. Not very sanitary. But this is no surprise because if you look at the top of the big barrel where they draw the rootbeer from you will see the compressor machine has about two inches of just and dirt on it.

While the rootbeer and Pabst Blue Ribbon are nicely served in frosted glass mugs, there is not much else positive I can say about Mac's. Yes, it harkens back to the days of years gone by as a road side root beer stand, but the food is pretty plain and not very delicious. Servers are teenagers who are friendly but cannot seem to get the order correct. Cash only, no credit cards or debit cards accepted.

Cleanliness is indeed circumspect. If you do not stophere you will not be disappointed.
