“Overpriced”

I agree with the other poster about the Portico room. The room had no charm and was furnished with garage sale purchases. Lighting was from two overhead fixtures and one nightstand lamp. Carpeting was old and the dust ruffle on the bed was tattered. Bathroom was clean and innkeeper made two good restaurant recommendations. I think $130/night is too much for this room.

The Brass Rose Inn is a quaint, clean, hospitable place to stay if you decide to visit Warwick. The room we had, the Portico, was nice because it opened up onto the back porch. There is cable tv, a queen sized bed, a fridge, an end table and a dining table. The bathroom was well lit, had plenty of hot water and fluffy towels. There is a bar and restaurant downstairs, as another reviewer mentioned, and we ate there when it was packed, and when we went upstairs, you could not hear a sound from the bar. Not a peep, so either, miraculously, only our room muffles these sounds, or the aforementioned reviewer was imagining things. We usually travel to much more expensive cities throughout North America and in Europe, so perhaps I just don't know what things cost, what is expensive, etc., in Warwick, NY, but I thought this place was very nice for only $120 a night. One warning, however: there is no parking at the B&B and after November 1st until...I'm not sure, some time in March, I believe, you can not park on the street either! Quite a quandary, and one we were not told about in advance. Otherwise, for this very low price, I would recommend The Brass Rose Inn wholeheartedly.

Upon arriving at the Brass Rose Inn, we realized why there are few photos on the website - the room itself was very small, just large enough to fit a bed, a tiny dresser, a table, and a refrigerator. There were no closets, and no bedside tables or reading lamps. The room appeared to have been furnished from garage sales, which we found in contrast to the website's claim of "country antique." The bathroom was dark and cramped, lit by a single light which did not penetrate the shower once you pulled the curtain closed. There was no shampoo, and pump soap. The B&B is right on main street, on the second floor above a music store and bar. So it was a bit noisy. The door to the bathroom stuck, and we had no confidence whatsoever in the entry door's lock. The Inn has no common rooms, and the stairs and landings were rather shabby. For breakfast, we were given a choice of either pancakes or eggs, which came with coffee, orange juice, and what seemed to be a fruit cobbler, served in the room. For $125 a night in Warwick, we would suggest considering other options.
