Description: When Driton “Tony” Sylaj came to the USA in 2000 he dreamed of owning his own restaurant. Tony was born in Kosova in January 1983. Upon arriving in this country his first goal was to obtain a degree. He attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and received an Associates Degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management. Tony began as a dishwasher in a small Italian cafe and gradually worked his way up to bus boy, waiter and then captain. He became the front of the house manager and then started to develop an interest in food preparation. He began as a prep cook and ultimately became head chef. His culinary background leading to Grappa is quite diverse. He has cooked and managed restaurants with the Hilton and Ritz Carlton hotels as well as Yonkers Raceway and Casino and the Surf Club Catering Hall. All of these experiences confirmed his goals and dreams. He wanted to own a restaurant of his own that featured exceptional food, an intimate atmosphere and a staff of courteous, hard working professionals. Grappa Ristorante is that and more. Ten years of hard work and commitment have allowed the dreams of Driton Sylaj and his partner, Nick Ahmetaj, to become a reality in Warwick Valley, New York. A long way for both from Kosova.

“The Worst ever”
Reviewed August 18, 2010

Had lunch with the ladies today and came home very very very disappointed.
Spent the time swatting flies, fanning ourselves to keep warm, waited 20 minutes and finally asked for bill. Even the bill was wrong....
Ragu makes better sauce.
Not a pleasant experience. Have NOTHING good to say about Grappa.
Called to complain to Manager, Leo. He shouted at me.
"Senora, we leave the doors open, Senora the ceilings are high and place doesn't cool...."
I strongly advise you to go elsewhere. Don't go to Grappa if you are looking for a pleasant
dining experience!

“the best kept dinning secret in the village - Grappa Restorante”
Reviewed August 6, 2010

Located on Railroad Ave in the Warwick village , eating at Grappa is a perfect way to end the day and feast on delicious food before you are homeward bound.
the atmosphere reminds me of the NYC- SoHo feel, and you are not rushed to eat and leave.
there is a great assortment of courses to chose from, all presented well and ever so pleasant to the taste.
definitely a place the locals are keeping to themselves because this palce should have neon lites outside announcing it's existance - but that wouldn't fit in Warwick.
Ask for Leo - you won't be disappointed - S & G

“Simply Delicious”
Reviewed May 23, 2010

Loved having the bread with cheese (I think it was parmesan reggiano) and the unique fried zucchini/olive oil dip to start. There were many specials. We went with the lamb shank and veal chop...simply delicious! I can't imagine anything that's not good on the menu. The only negative was - we ate so much that we didn't have room for dessert!

“Nice look with a rustic feel but husband...”
Reviewed May 16, 2010

Nice look with a rustic feel but husband and I sat down and literally waited for about 30 minutes for a menu. They put out some hunks of parm, bread and flavored olive oil dip (which was tasty) and another 30 mins later they took our order! Uh, hello? Another long wait for the food. Did not get the right appetizer that was ordered but was so hungry by then I didn't care and finished my glass of wine by the time entrees came out and no one asked if we wanted refills. Our utensils were removed after apps were finished and not given a fresh set once the entrees were out, so we sat there staring at the food we've waited an hour for and no means to eat! And then another brief wait to get someone's attention to get some damn utensils. All this with a toddler in tow too! The rigatoni with sausage was doused in cream though I don't recall that being an ingredient on the menu. The entrees was clearly sitting out for some time because the cream sauce was somewhat pasty. This is going to be higher rated for people who can't easily access better Italian with an unsophisticated palate. Wait staff and owner was friendly, but highly disappointing.

“Although the food was good, the service was so bad that it was a terrible experience.”
Reviewed March 9, 2010

We were shown to a table and then left there for 35 minutes without menus or service. Once we ASKED to be able to order, menus were produced, the order taken and two courses served. And then we sat again for almost 45 minutes. When we finally managed to flag down the waiter, he asked whether we would like dessert, completely spacing on the fact that our main courses had never delivered. No apology: he acted as if it were our fault that it had happened. Inexcusable.
